A New Data Link Protocol for Railway Signaling Systems

  • In accordance with the computerization of railway signaling systems, the interface link between signaling equipment has been replaced by a digital communication channel and the importance of this communication link has become increasingly significant. However, there are some problems with the present state of railway signaling. First, different communication protocol is applied to interfaces between signaling although they have the same functions. Next, the communication protocols currently used in the railway fields contain various illogical components such as structure, byte formation, error correction scheme and so on. To solve these matters, a new data link protocol for railway signaling systems is designed. In this paper, the structure of protocol and the results of performance analyses are presented. It will be expected to increase the safety, reliability and efficiency of maintenance of signaling systems by using the designed communication protocol for railway signaling in Korea.

  • Propelled urban rail transit EMU's standardization/localization business receiving MOCT's assistance for 2001 years since 1995 in KRRI. But. urban rail transit is operated because signaling. electrical power. rail etc. as well as EMU connects each other. Therefore, receive MOCT's assistance since 2001 and is achieving standardization research about urban rail transit's infrastructure including signaling. Specially, is propelling standardization about CBTC way for expansive standardization hereafter in signaling part. Main contents of this urban rail transit's signaling standardization research are as following. - standard specification creation - development of core equipment for standardization specification verification - standard specification completion by core equipment testing & evaluation Is explaining about establishment of scheme and these contents for this urban rail transit's signaling's standard specification creation in this paper.

  • 다양한 무선 네트워크상에서 멀티미디어 멀티캐스트 서비스에 대한 기대가 날로 높아지고 있는데, 이는 IP 멀티캐스트 그룹 관리가 무선 환경에서도 효과적이면서 효율적으로 동작하여야 함을 가정하고 있다. 하지만, IGMPv3/MLDv2는 무선상에서 신뢰성이 없는 시그널링, 느린 상태의 전환, 낮은 주파수당 전송 효율, Bulk Report, Dormant 모드를 방해하는 등의 문제가 있어 무선 환경에서 그대로 사용하기에 비효율적이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 호스트 에이전트(Wireless Host Agent; WHA)를 도입하여 무선 링크 사이에서의 시그널링을 줄이고 그룹 관리의 효율성과 신뢰성을 높이는 기법을 소개한다. 또한 시그널링 비용 모델을 제시하고, 그 성능을 비교하였다.

  • In accordance with the computerization of railway signaling systems, the interface link between the signaling systems has been replaced by a digital communication channel. At the same time, the importance of the communication link has become increasingly significant. However, there are some questionable matters in the current state of railway signaling systems in KNR. First, different communication protocols have been applied to create an interface between railway signaling systems although the protocols have the same functions. Next, the communication protocols currently used in the railway fields have some illogical parts such as structure, byte formation, error correction scheme, and so on. To solve these matters, the standard communication protocol for railway signaling systems is designed. The newly designed protocol is overviews in this paper. And the simulation is performed to analysis the performance of data link control for designed protocol. According to this simulation, it is identified that the link throughput of new protocol is improved about 10% and the frame error rate is improved than existing protocol. And it is verified the safety and liveness properties of designed protocol by using a formal method for specifying the designed protocol. It is expected that there will be an increase in safety, reliability and efficiency in terms of the maintenance of the signaling systems by using the designed communication protocol for railway signaling.

Inter-MAG이 고려된 PMIPv6 환경에서 전달자 정보를 이용한 경로 최적화 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Route Optimization Scheme using Correspondent Information for in the PMIPv6 considering Inter-MAG)

  • In the paper, we proposed the Using Correspondent Information for Route Optimization on PMIPv6 over Inter-MAG. Proxy Mobile IPv6 has the problem that a mobile node sends data packets through inefficient routing paths when communicating other mobile node. Route optimization schemes are proposed to solve the triangle routing problem that creates the shortest routing path by leaving the inefficient routing paths. We proposed Correspondent Information Route Optimization scheme to reduce signaling cost as compared with other route optimization scheme. We can reduce signaling cost of route optimization through the Correspondent Information message on basic PMIPv6 and hand-off environment.

기회적 포그 노드를 활용한 IoT 기기의 위치 업데이트 방법 (Location Update Scheme for IoT Devices through Opportunistic Fog Node)

  • In order to provide useful Internet of Things (IoT) services, the locations of IoT devices should be well managed. However, frequent location updates of lots of IoT devices result in signaling overhead in networks. To solve this problem, this paper utilizes the opportunistic fog node (OFN) which is opportunistically available according to the mobility to perform the location updates as a representative of IoT devices. Therefore, the location updates through OFN can reduce the signaling loads of networks. To show the performance of the proposed scheme, we develop an analytic model for the opportunistic location update offloading probability that the location update can be offloaded to OFN from the IoT device. Then, the extensive simulation results are given to validate the analytic model and to assess the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of the opportunistic location update offloading probability.

셀 단위로 증가하는 위치영역을 고려한 거리기준 위치등록의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Distance-based Registration Considering Cell-by-Cell Location Area)

  • An efficient location registration scheme is essential to accommodate continuously increasing mobile subscribers and to offer a variety of multimedia services with good quality. In this study, we consider a distance-based registration scheme where the number of location areas varies on the basis of cell-by-cell, not of ring-by-ring, to analyze the optimal size of the location area. Using our proposed cell-by-cell distance-based registration scheme with random walk mobility model, we analyze a variety of circumstances to obtain the optimal number of cells for location area that minimizes total signaling traffic on radio channels. From our analysis results, we show that the optimal number of cells for location area is between 4 and 6 in most cases, and our cell-by-cell distance-based location registration scheme has less signaling traffic than optimal ring-by-ring distance-based location registration scheme where optimal distance threshold is 2 (thus the optimal number of cells for location area is 7).

  • 협력 네트워크는 전송기에서 송신기로 신호를 전송할 때 여러 개의 중계기를 통해 신호를 전송함으로써 통신성능을 향상시키고 전송용량을 증가시키는 장점을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 송신기와 중계기 사이에서는 일반적인 이진변조방식을 이용하여 신호를 전송하고 중계기와 수신기 사이에서는 차등 공간 시간 코드 방식을 적용한 신호전송 시스템을 고려한다. 먼저 송신기와 중계기 사이에서 동기방식과 차등변조 방식을 적용했을 때의 성능을 분석한다. 변조방식 및 중계기의 개수를 고려한 다양한 중계기 위치에서의 성능 또한 비교한다.

  • Woerner는 비동기 트레리스 부호화 DS/COMA (asynchronous treilis-coded DS/CDMA systems, A-TC-CDMA) 시스템에 낮은 상관도의 다중 시퀀스 시그날링인 배직교 시퀀스 (biorthogonal sequence)를 이용함으로써 단일 시퀀스 시그날링인 M-ary PSK에 비해 보다 개선된 시스템 성능을 얻을 수 있음을 보여주었다. 본 논문에서는 최근 기 제안된 다중 시퀀스 시그날링 방식인 OPSM (orthogonal plane sequence modulation)과 배직교 시퀀스를 이용한 비동기 트레리스 부호화 CDMA 시스템 성능을 상호 비교 분석한다. 가입자 수신신호의 상호간섭 랜덤변수의 모멘트를 유도하고 그 결과 배직교 시퀀스 시그날링 방식에 비해 적은 수의 심볼당 시퀀스를 갖는 OPSM(orthogonal plane sequence modulation)이 시퀀스간 낮은 상호상관도 특성을 가짐을 보여준다. 또한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 다중 시퀀스 시그날링 비동기 트레리스 시스템의 전력 효율 및 스펙트럼 효율을 비교 검증한다.

  • A S/W testing for vital railway signaling system have been important because of the increase of software usage for signaling. And also the safety of vital signaling system is required by int'l std. such as IEC 61508. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware's safety, not so much systematic approaches to assessment software's safety. In this paper, we propose a automation schemen of software testing tool for railway signaling system. From that, we show the functional architecture and internal components of the tool.
