A Color Image Watermarking Method for Embedding Audio Signal

  • The rapid development of digital media and communication network urgently brings about the need of data certification technology to protect IPR (Intellectual property right). This paper proposed a new watermarking method for embedding contents owner's audio signal in order to protect color image IPR. Since this method evolves the existing static model and embeds audio signal of big data, it has the advantage of restoring signal transformed due to attacks. Three basic stages of watermarking include: 1) Encode analogue ID owner's audio signal using PCM and create new 3D audio watermark; 2) Interleave 3D audio watermark by linear bit expansion and 3) Transform Y signal of color image into wavelet and embed interleaved audio watermark in the low frequency band on the transform domain. The results demonstrated that the audio signal embedding in color image proposed in this paper enhanced robustness against lossy JPEG compression, standard image compression and image cropping and rotation which remove a part of image.

  • The choice of threshold is an important in the compression algorithms. It plays a major role in the removal of coefficients which are not preserved the important features. In this paper two threshold method, hard threshold(HTH) and soft threshold(STH) are applied to the suggested wavelet based compression algorithm of power quality signal and compared the compression ratio and NMSE. The simulation results show that STH is bottom than HTH.

  • It is extremely important to compress a very large multimedia data under the currently used communication networks because of the forthcoming high fast multimedia informations. Wavelets are very popular and useful mathematical tool in the field of signal processing recently. In this paper, signal compression methods using the wavelet packet transform are compared with the other compression method under same threshold condition. As the result, the compression of using the wavelet packet transform is much more effective than the other compressing methods.

  • A sensor network system can be an efficient tool for healthcare telemetry for multiple users due to its power efficiency. One drawback is its limited data size. This paper proposed a real-time application of data compression/decompression method in u-Health monitoring system in order to improve the network efficiency. Our high priority was given to maintain a high quality of signal reconstruction since it is important to receive undistorted waveform. Our method consisted of down sampling coding and differential Huffman coding. Down sampling was applied based on the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem and signal amplitude was taken into account to increase compression rate in the differential Huffman coding. Our method was successfully tested in a ZigBee and WLAN dual network. Electrocardiogram (ECG) had an average compression ratio of 3.99 : 1 with 0.24% percentage root mean square difference (PRD). Photoplethysmogram (PPG) showed an average CR of 37.99 : 1 with 0.16% PRD. Our method produced an outstanding PRD compared to other previous reports.

  • Pulse echo techniques have been used for the conventional medical ultrasound imaging systems. However, their resolution is limited in the transmitted signal power. To overcome this limit, pulse compression method used in the radar systems was proposed. This system transmits a continuous coded signal and then compresses the received signal into the short and high resolution pulse by using correlator. The reflectors can be detected by cross-correlation between the transmitted signal and the received signal with the depth information. In this paper, we will present a comparative study of the performances of the most common sequences(pseudo-chirp, m-sequences, modified Golay code). The best result for improving resolution is obtained with the modified Golay Code.

기상레이더 반사도 자료의 계층적 압축 기법 (Hierarchical Compression Technique for Reflectivity Data of Weather Radar)

  • Nowadays the amount of data obtained from advanced weather radars is growing to provide higher spatio-temporal resolution. Accordingly radar data compression is important to use limited network bandwidth and storage effectively. In this paper, we proposed a hierarchical compression method for weather radar data having high spatio-temporal resolution. The method is applied to radar reflectivity and evaluated in aspects of accuracy of quantitative rainfall intensity. The technique provides three compression levels from only 1 compressed stream for three radar user groups-signal processor, quality controller, weather analyst. Experimental results show that the method has maximum 13% and minimum 33% of compression rates, and outperforms 25% higher than general compression technique such as gzip.

생체신호에 기반한 웨어러블 로봇 내 부분 압박 바지 착용 시 효과 검증 (Verification of Effectiveness of Wearing Compression Pants in Wearable Robot Based on Bio-signals)

  • In this study, the effect of wearing functional compression pants is verified using a lower-limb wearable robot through a bio-signal analysis and subjective fit evaluation. First, the compression area to be applied to the functional compression pants is derived using the quad method for nine men in their 20s. Subsequently, functional compression pants are prepared, and changes in Electroencephalogram (EEG) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals when wearing the functional compression and normal regular pants inside a wearable robot are measured. The EEG and ECG signals are measured with eyes closed and open. Results indicate that the Relative alpha (RA) and Relative gamma wave (RG) of the EEG signal differ significantly, resulting in increased stability and reduced anxiety and stress when wearing the functional compression pants. Furthermore, the ECG analysis results indicate statistically significant differences in the Low frequency (LF)/High frequency (HF) index, which reflect the overall balance of the autonomic nervous system and can be interpreted as feeling comfortable and balanced when wearing the functional compression pants. Moreover, subjective sense is discovered to be effective in assessing wear fit, ease of movement, skin friction, and wear comfort when wearing the functional compression pants.

  • With the recent development of hardware and software technology, interest in the development of wearable devices is increasing. In particular, wearable devices require algorithms suitable for low-power and low-capacity embedded devices. Among them, there is an increasing demand for a signal compression algorithm that reduces communication overhead, in order to increase the efficiency of storage and transmission of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals requiring long-time measurement. Because normal beats occupy most of the signal with similar shapes, a high rate of signal compression is possible if normal beats are represented by a template. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for determining the normal beat template using the template cluster and Pearson similarity. Also, the template is expressed effectively as a few vertices through linear approximation algorithm. In experiment of Datum 234 of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database (MIT-BIH ADB) provided by Physionet, a compression ratio was 33.44:1, and an average distribution of root mean square error (RMSE) was 1.55%.

파형압축 기법에 의한 GPR탐사 반사신호 분해능 향상을 위한 새로운 접근 (A new approach to enhancement of ground penetrating radar target signals by pulse compression)

  • GPR 탐사는 천부 지하 대상체 탐지에 유용한 방법이다. 그러나 다수의 GPR 적용사례에서 보여지듯이 천부 대상체에 의한 신호들은 지표에 의한 강한 반사파에 묻혀서 나타난다. 따라서 대상체에 의한 반사파를 이러한 강한 신호로부터 분리해낼 수 있는 신호처리 기법의 적용이 요구된다. 이 연구에서 사용된 파형압축기법은 신호의 폭을 압축시키는 것으로 심하게 오염되어 흐트러진 파형들로부터 신호를 분리해내는 방법이다. 이 논문에서는 위너필터링 (Wiener filtering) 기법을 사용하여 GPR 자료의 파형압축을 수행하는 자료처리방법을 소개하였다. 이 필터는 매설된 관로 위에서 얻어진 수치모형자료 및 현장 GPR 자료에 적용되었다. 이 분별방법은 강한 지표반사로부터 대상체의 반사신호를 구분해 내는 것과 파형압축을 위한 기준신호로서의 지표반사를 분리해 내기 위한 두 곳 모두에 사용 되었다. 파형압축 필터에 있어서 기준신호의 선정은 매우 중요한 문제이다. 그 이유는 특별히 기준신호의 신호대 잡음비가 낮을 경우 신호의 복이 압축될수록 잡음수준이 증가하게 되기 때문이다. GPR 수치모형자료와 현장 자료에 적용시킨 결과 GPR 영상의 눈에 띄는 개선을 보여주었다 즉, 지표반사파와 대상체에 의한 반사파의 구별이 뚜렷해지고 이를 통해 훨씬 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 그러나, 현장자료에서는 잡음의 고주파성분을 포함하는 넓은 대역폭을 갖는 기준신호 때문에 약간의 잡음수준의 증가로 나타났다. 지표반사파를 기준신호로 사용하면 GPR자료의 파형의 복을 압축시킬 수 있이 지하 대상체에 의한 반사 영상의 질을 향상시킬 수 있다.
