An Address Voltage Stabilization Circuit for the Single-Side Driving Method of AC Plasma Display Panels

  • An address voltage stabilization circuit for the single-side driving (SSD) method for AC plasma display panels (PDP) is proposed. The single-side driving method, which eliminates a common sustaining driver, uses only two electrodes in a three electrode AC PDP structure. The high-impedance (Hi-Z) mode operation of the data drive ICs during the sustaining period is needed for surface gas-discharge without misfiring in the SSD method but it produces the problem that the address voltage increases up to the breakdown voltage. The proposed circuit based on a flyback converter can stabilize the address voltage under the breakdown voltage and provide better surface gas-discharge performance without any misfiring in the SSD scheme.

  • In this paper, the intoner noise reduction for subway railroad vehicles was studied by improving transmission loss of carbody panels and side doors, and on-line tests were conducted to examine the exterior noise levels at various running conditions. Also the transmission loss for design candidates of the carbody specimen was measured in two reverberation rooms. From the results of the tests, side door gap is the most dominant factor affecting the Interior noise level of subway railroad cars with a sliding typed side door. The next one is revealed to transmission loss of a floor panel. To improve the transmission loss of the carbody, many activities were conducted such as, treatment of resilient and sound-absorbing materials and reducing the gap of the side door by adopting a brush and rubber, etc. The estimated interior noise level for modified car which is designed with improved carbody panels is lower than original car by about 5㏈.

  • Using a single LC panel and two lighting systems, we have developed an advanced LCD system called "Double-Sided LCD." It has only one LC panel and two lighting systems, but it can display images of the same size and resolution on both the front and the rear side. Furthermore, utilizing a simple and thin lighting system we have reduced dramatically its module thickness up to 3.0mm, much thinner than that of conventional dual-type LCD, which is quite appropriate for the use of mobile applications.

패널자료를 이용한 생활용수 수요의 가격탄력도 분석 (Panel Estimation of Price Elasticities on Residential Water Demand in Korea)

  • Demand side management(DSM) is the newly raised issues in the water resources management in recent. Many of the policy tools among demand management, the most important measures might be a pricing system. Furthermore, the responses of consumers on the price for water consumption level is the key factor for policy making. Here, we estimated panel data for 167 regions and over 7 years periods in Korea. Compare to other previous studies the price elasticities were somewhat low. The estimated price elasticity was -0.05. It was because the short term estimated period may derive lower elasticities. However, it might be a recent trend after the continuous increment of water pricing and consumers not willing to decrease their residential water consumption with increasing water pricing. According to this results, water saving effect might be much smaller than we expect with pricing policy. However, It does not imply there is no price effects on water consumption and it's still meaningful as a tool of water management.

  • To develop glass panel vacuum lift system for the post process in module line of FPD(Flat panel display) such as LCD and PDP, new vacuum adsorption parts of this system are proposed. These parts are composed of variable geometry configurations utilizing ceramic porous medium for variable size of glass panels. In order to design this device, detail understanding of flow phenomena in the flow path of vacuum adsorption system is essential. Thus, CFD analysis and designs are performed for several configurations in terms of pressure drop and balancing force at the adsorption side. From the result, new configuration is recommended for optimum design and manufacturing purpose.

  • This paper deals with transmission loss characteristics of the panel type silencer to control low frequency noise. The panel type silencer is composed of many Helmholtz resonators by side branch. Each resonator has high transmission loss on the narrow band of its resonance frequency. Direct arrangement of the resonators increases mainly the magnitude of transmission loss. If we arrange the resonators in a row, the peak and band of transmission loss are increased. This makes the resonator array to have high transmission loss in the broader band. Using this idea, we design a silencer that has broader band characteristics and smaller volume.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the adhesion performance of the three - dimensional forming fiber panels by the dimensional forming angle. As a result of applying the three dimensional surface shape to the back side of the fiber panel and testing the adhesion strength by the three dimensional forming angle, it was confirmed that the bonding strength of the specimens to which the dimensional molding was applied was higher than that of the non dimensional molding. In addition, the highest adhesion strength was confirmed in a specimen having a three-dimensional forming angle of 70 °.

  • To find the best intagliated shape on edgelit signboard, it was prepared wilt variations of illumination by changing the depth and angle of an engraved letter, the thickness of acrylic panel and wavelength of light source in this paper. As the result of analyzing optical design program, shallower depth and larger than critical angle on a visible side of panel, a favorable illumination characteristics was found. Also considering those factors, it was able to select the model which showed effectively engraved letter.

선미식 안강망 어구의 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of the Stern Stow Net)

  • Because stow net being used in now is doing throwing net and hauling net through a ship's side, the work is very complicated and the fishing boat needs many seamen and it could cause a loss of lives and ship in stormy weather. We are now using small mesh size 36~500mm and it even catches young fish, so we call it the fishing gear of resource reduction type.Therefore we must make manpower reduction in automatic operation, safe operation of throwing net and hauling net in the stern and the stern-typed stow net of resource management using large mesh. And we performed three-typed model tests to examine the fishing gear. The obtained results are as follows;1. The fishing gear being used in the ship's side type stow net has inappropriate standard and arrangement of the net, resistance increase of the fishing gear and frequent breakdown of the net.2. To supplement the fault of A-typed stow net, we schemed fishing gear developed as both B-type(12-seamed net) and C-types(8-seamed net) of the stern-typed stow net. 3. In model tests, C-typed model net(mesh size 40~1,600mm) was proved good fishing gear because the resistance in accordance with the flowing speed was comparatively small and it's mouth area was broad. 4. A-typed stow net had the spreading device attached to side panel of the net, but the stern-typed stow net had the spreading device consisted of 4 lines far behind about 6m from side panel of the net mouth. In the flowing speed 2knot, the spreading condition of fishing gear was proved batter than the former.

알루미늄 압출재로 이루어진 철도차량 차체의 경량화를 위한 최적설계 방안 연구 (Weight Reducing of Aluminum Extrusion Profiles of a Railway-Car Body Based on Topology and Size Optimization)

  • 알루미늄 재질의 도시철도차량 차체의 경량화를 위해 이중 판재구조로 이루어진 철도차량용 알루미늄 압출재의 최적설계를 수행하였다. 위상최적설계 기법을 이용하여 알루미늄 차체에서 가장 큰 중량을 차지하는 하부 프레임 베이스 플레이트의 경량화된 위상을 도출하였고, 이를 기반으로 압출재 부재별 치수 최적화를 수행하였다. 하부 프레임 다음으로 큰 중량을 차지하는 측면 프레임 압출재에 대해서는 치수 최적화를 통하여 경량설계를 수행하였다. 최적설계안과 현재 설계의 최대발생응력과 최대 변형량을 비교하여 최적설계결과의 타당성을 검증하였다. 이 과정을 통하여 언더프레임과 사이드프레임의 중량을 현재보다 평균 12% 줄일 수 있었고, 차체 전체로는 8.5%의 경량화 효과를 얻었다.
