  • Communication antennas used at sea have been developed remarkably. However, the speed of this development is insufficient when compared with user demands. Therefore, we developed an antenna for UWB/Bluetooth that operates on 3 [GHz] and 5.72 [GHz] bands in order to use the high-speed communication network system which improved antenna miniaturization, gain and radiation patterns. To improve bandwidth, a microstrip patch antenna was selected and CST Microwave Studio 2014 program was used. Through the program, we calculated the slot width, length, transmission line width, etc. using a theoretical formula at each step. These figures were checked through simulation to see if they meet production standards. UWB for high-speed wireless communication for short-range communication at sea, Bluetooth for exchanging information at a short distance by connecting each device, and corresponding technology can be easily utilized.

  • In this paper, among short-range wireless communication technologies such as Beacon, Bluetooth, UWB (Ultra-wideband), ZigBee, NFC (Near Field Communication), Z-Wave, 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low power WPAN), D2D (Device to Device), etc., proposed an IoT service platform based on a beacon that can provide indoor positioning. And, a beacon-linked web server was designed by blocking indiscriminate beacon spam signals and applying REST web service technology with flexibility and scalability. Data accessibility between different devices was verified by testing the success rate of data transmission, the success rate of blocking beacon push, the success rate of IoT interlocking processing, the accuracy of location positioning, and the success rate of REST web service-based data processing. Through the designed IoT service platform, various proposals and research on short-distance-based business models and service platforms will be conducted in the future.

  • With the advent of ubiquitous computing society, many advanced technologies have enabled wireless sensor networks which consist of small sensor nodes. However, the sensor nodes have limited computing resources such as small size memory, low battery life, short transmission range, and low computational capabilities. Thus, decreasing energy consumption is one of the most significant issues in wireless sensor networks. In addition, numerous applications for wireless sensor networks are recently spreading to various fields (health-care, surveillance, location tracking, unmanned monitoring, nuclear reactor control, crop harvesting control, u-city, building automation etc.). For many of them, supporting security functionalities is an indispensable feature. Especially in case wireless sensor networks should provide a sufficient variety of security functions, sensor nodes are required to have more powerful performance and more energy demanding features. In other words, simultaneously providing security features and saving energy faces a trade-off problem. This paper presents a novel energy-efficient security architecture in an IEEE 802.15.4-based wireless sensor network called the Hybrid Adaptive Security (HAS) framework in order to resolve the trade off issue between security and energy. Moreover, we present a performance analysis based on the experimental results and a real implementation model in order to verify the proposed approach.

  • In the area of the destruction-free NIR analysis of fruit and vegetables development has not yet progressed as far as in grain and similar products. One reason for that is, that in contrast to grains, in fruit and vegetables water appears as the outstanding main-component making up typically 80% by weight of the fruit. Of the M absorption spectrum of pure water the bands at 1450, 970 and 760 nm are the first, second and third overtones respectively of O-H stretch while those at 1940 and 1190 are combination bands involving O-H stretch and O-H bend. The choice of band for spectrometry is governed by considerations of sensitivity and selectivity. The overtone bands are satisfactory for use in moisture measurements from 0 to 4 % depending on path length. Measurements in fruits and vegetables at wavelength areas that are also important for the determination of carbohydrates (sucrose, glucose, fructose) often lead to total absorption in the presence of significant water even if short path lengths are possible. In this work model systems are used containing different carbohydrates in solvents like heavy water (D$_2$O) or dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) that do not contain O-H functional groups.

  • This paper covers that modem performance test is effected by traffic and analysis of the result in TETRA network. The SDS is a method of the between PEIs transmission. And only SDS message type-4 is used to test. The range of the SDS message data length is from 10 to 140 bytes with an increment of 10 bytes. For each length transmitted 1000 times for each delay of inter-transmissions 0.5 second, 1.0 second and 1.5 second. The modem used in the test is the Unimo MU-1000MD by UNIMO Corp.

  • Meteor Burst Communication can provide effective and economical means of communication where long distance VHF NLOS(None Line of sight) data transmission is needed; often ranges more than 1200 km. It has been, however, so far considered unsuitable for distance as short as 700km application because of phenomenal decrease in burst durations, which leads to decreation of total duty rate of the system. This paper introduce experimental characteristics of very shot distance MB(Meteor Hurst) path. Also the occurring rate and average length measured on 50km paths between kyongsan-city to Andong-city shows that Meter Burst communication is useful communication system in mountain and valley communication.

  • Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (formerly Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora) is a plant pathogen that causes soft rot and stem rot diseases in several crops, including Chinese cabbage, potato, and tomato. To control this bacterium, we isolated a bacteriophage, PP1, with lytic activity against P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that the PP1 phage belongs to the Podoviridae family of the order Caudovirales, which exhibit icosahedral heads and short non-contractile tails. PP1 phage showed high specificity for P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum, and several bacteria belonging to different species and phyla were resistant to PP1. This phage showed rapid and strong lytic activity against its host bacteria in liquid medium and was stable over a broad range of pH values. Disease caused by P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum was significantly reduced by PP1 treatment. Overall, PP1 bacteriophage effectively controls P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum.

  • The exact load measurements for the mechanical parts of a wind turbine are important step both fur the evaluation of a specific wind turbine design and for a certification process. A common method for a mechanical load measurement is using a strain gauge sensing. Two main problems ought to be answered in order for this method to be applied to the wind turbine project. These are strain gauge calibration and non-contact signal transmission from the strain gauge output to a load monitoring system. This paper suggests reliable solutions fer these two problems. A Bluetooth, a short range wireless data communication technology, is used to solve the second problem. The first one, the strain gauge calibration methodology for a load measurement in a wind turbine application, is fully explained in this paper. Various mechanical loadings for a strain gauge calibration in a wind turbine load measurement are introduced and analyzed. Initial experimental results which are obtained from a 1 kW small size wind turbine are analyzed, and the uncertainty problem in estimating mechanical loads using a calibration matrix is fully covered in this paper.

  • To measure temporal variability of long- range transmission in northern part of the East Sea of Korea, low frequency acoustic sources were deployed on the continental shelf 0.4km south of Cape Shultz near the port of Vladivostok during October 1999. The transmissions of the phase modulated signals were recorded by VLA moored on the northern slope of Ulleung-do. The measured signals were processed for the acoustic arrivals and their variability in time. The temporal signal processing involves pulse compression of the phase-encoded signal, time spread and temporal coherence processing. Variability of the ocean sound speed field in time scales of short period seems to be dominated by random fluctuations caused by sound speed perturbation due to the vertical displacements associated with internal waves.
