Effect of Home-Host Country Psychic Distance (HHCPD) Perception of Chinese Tourists on Tourism Shopping Motivation and Fashion Brand Attitudes in Korea

  • The contribution of foreign tourist consumption on national economies is becoming increasingly important for many countries. This study examines the relationship of home-host country psychic distance (HHCPD), tourism shopping motivation and attitudes towards local and global fashion brands in host countries. Survey data from a sample of 500 Chinese tourists were collected at an international airport in Korea. The results reveal that all three key factors of HHCPD (economic, geographic and cultural distance) positively affect social shopping motivation. Moreover, only economic distance has a positive effect on commodity shopping motivation, while both cultural and economic distance positively influence souvenir shopping motivation. All three factors of tourism shopping motivation positively affect local fashion brand attitudes, while only commodity shopping motivation positively affects consumer attitudes towards global fashion brands. Thus, fashion marketers should trigger the shopping motivation of foreign tourists by maximising the psychic distance from their home in order to satisfy fashion-seeking tourists.

TV 홈쇼핑 판매제품별 쇼호스트의 의상 특성조사 (The Research on the Characteristics of Show Hostess Clothing and Presented Items in the CATV Home-Shopping Network Program)

  • This study tried to research on clothing styles of show hostess in the cable television home-shopping network program. Especially, show hostess's clothing styles were classified into 5 sections according to selling products, that is baby goods, insured goods, underwear, bedclothes and beauty goods. item is examined 7 levels by texture, color, clothing item, fashion image, fashion trend, fashion type, and fashion silhouette. The results showed that significant correlations between show host's clothing and selling products. The another findings of this study is that show hostess's clothing is aimed at the taste of main consumer such as housewife. Conseguently this study reaffirms the importance of the shopping hostess's clothing influnce according to selling products's characteristics.

  • This study analyzes the locution of television home shopping show hosts for apparel products with a focus on the selling points and vocabulary use. A qualitative content analysis was conducted for 15 recorded home shopping shows selling women's overcoats and jackets. The results are as follows. First, 8 dimensions of selling points were revealed: Promotions, brand popularities, the experiences of shopping hosts, fashion trend information, conformity motivation and suggestion, intangible attributes, tangible attributes, and compared/leading differences. The most frequent selling point was tangible attributes. Following this were, promotions, conformity motivation and suggestion, compared/leading differences, intangible attributes, brand popularity, the experiences of the shopping hosts, and fashion trend information in order. The selling points were almost proper to decrease the perceived risks of home shopping consumers. Second, shopping hosts frequently used the clothing terms without any expatiations and used loan words (foreign language terms) instead of the direct Korean translations. In the conclusion, the development of a marketing strategy focusing on shopping host management is suggested.

Television Shopping at Home to Alleviate Loneliness Among Older Consumers

  • Despite widespread awareness of the importance of a middle-aging and older consumer market, it is surprising that very little research has been conducted on their in-home shopping behavior. Therefore, this study focused on middle-aging and older female television home shoppers and examined the effects of persuasive mentions of the show host and parasocial interaction on social involvement, perceived loneliness, mood, perceived risk and unplanned buying tendency. A total of 109 middleaged and older female television shoppers responded. Results of path analysis revealed that persuasive mentions did not influence parasocial interaction. However, as middle-aging and older consumers more para-socially interacted with the host, they were likely to use television shopping for alleviating loneliness. Practical and theoretical implications were discussed.

  • The purpose sof this study was to examine consumer's addictive buying through the TV home shopping, focused on materialism, show host and credit card use consumer. Two hundred four female consumers who had purchased fashion items in TV home shopping had participated for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and multiple regression were used for the study with SPSS 12.0 program. The result were as follows. First, the addictive buying group was 13.2% among respondents while non-addictive buying group was 86.8%. Second, materialism was classified into 3 factors: happiness, success and possessiveness. Show host was classified into 3 factors such as visual presentation, image and communication skill. Credit card was classified into 3 factors: sales promotion, late payment and method payment. Results of multiple regression revealed that happiness and possessiveness from materialism, credit card late payment, and show host communication skill were significantly related to addictive buying. Based on these results, this study would provide fashion marketing strategies for reasonable and reasonable consuming culture, since addictive buying has been not only individual problem but also social problem. ISDS 포럼쇼핑 방지를 위한 투자협정상 MFN 배제조항 (MFN Restrictions in Investment Agreements for the Prevention of ISDS Forum Shopping)

  • MFN provisions in investment agreements have been a tool for equitable treatment between foreign investors with different nationalities. This non discriminatory principle has been pursued by the host states for further investment promotion. However, it may be abused to bring the situation of so called "ISDS forum shopping" which might harm the stability and predictability of investment agreements by unexpectedly extending the scope of obligations. While some investment arbitral tribunals have interpreted the scope of MFN provision very broadly to allow the ISDS forum shopping, both procedural and substantive provisions have been invoked. To prevent any chaos of unclear boundary of MFN provision, some explicit MFN restrictions which would limit the scope of MFN provision are needed. Indeed, some investment agreements have included these MFN restrictions. Specifically, MFN restrictions deal with both procedural or substantive provisions to prevent ISDS forum shopping. According to the lessons from the recent examples of MFN restrictions, there must be a careful consideration on the benefits and costs of having a certain type of MFN restriction as the parties can be the host state and the home state of their investors at the same time.

TV 홈쇼퍼의 강박구매에 관한 연구: 쾌락적 쇼핑성향과 마케팅 자극 요인을 중심으로 (TV Home Shoppers' Compulsive Buying: Shopping Orientation & Marketing Promotion Variables)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate TV home shoppers' compulsive buying, focused on shopping orientation and marketing promotion variables. Four hundred one female home shoppers who have purchased fashion products through TV home shopping. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and Cronbach's Alpha were used in this study. The results were as follows: First, approximately 17% of respondents were revealed as compulsive buyers. Second, for shopping orientation instrument, three factors of shopping orientation were found and labeled as 'indifferent', 'hedonic', and 'economic' factors. Third, compared to non-compulsive buyers, compulsive buyers had higher hedonic scores. Finally, compulsive buyers considered marketing promotion variables such as show host, scarcity sales, gift events as important factors for their purchasing than non-compulsive buyers. Based on these results, it would provide TV home shopping marketers efficient and social responsible marketing strategies.

쇼핑호스트의 스피치스타일이 구매의도에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Speech Style of Shopping Host on Purchase Intention)

  • 본 연구는 쇼핑호스트의 스피치스타일을 분류해내고, 분류된 스피치스타일이 쇼핑호스트의 평가와 구매의도에 미치는 영향관계를 파악하고자 하였다. 쇼핑호스트의 스피치스타일이 쇼핑 호스트 평가에 미치는 영향에서 설파형의 고객지향성, 신뢰성, 적격성과 서술형의 적격성을 제외한 다른 스피치스타일은 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 가설에서 검증된 스피치스타일과 쇼핑 호스트 평가의 영향관계를 살펴보면 논증형, 표출형, 서술형 순으로 영향력이 나타나고 있다. 쇼핑호스트의 스피치스타일이 구매의도에 미치는 영향에서는 설파형, 서술형을 제외하고 논증형, 표출형에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 즉, 서술적이면서 주도적인 스피치스타일 보다 논리적으로 설득하면서 주어진 내용을 잘 표현하는 스피치스타일을 선호하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

쇼핑몰의 야외성 발현 특성에 관한 연구 -공용공간 비교를 중심으로- (The Sense of Outdoor Characteristics on the Shopping Mall Planning -Focusing on Common Space Comparison-)

  • 현대 사회의 상업시설 중 쇼핑몰은 소비자의 집객과 매출을 높이기 위해 다양한 형태로 발전되어 왔다. 본 연구의 목적은 오픈형 쇼핑몰과 인클로즈드형 쇼핑몰의 공용공간에서 공통적으로 발견되는 야외성의 표출을 위한 건축계획적 특성을 비교하여 사례별 쇼핑몰의 야외성이 어떻게 구성되고 발현되는지 분석하는데 있다. 이는 다양한 프로그램이 복합적으로 집약되어 있는 쇼핑몰의 사례분석 결과를 통해 보다 쾌적한 공간계획을 위한 건축계획적 기초 연구의 토대가 된다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인클로즈드형 쇼핑몰 공간의 경우 오픈형 쇼핑몰에서 가지는 외부성을 표현하기 위하여 대규모 실내 공간의 구축을 통하여 야외성을 추구한다. 둘째, 인클로즈드형 쇼핑몰의 공용공간 구성방식은 기능적 가로 구성과 유기적 가로 구성의 구성으로 구분되며 입지적 특성에 따라 서로 다른 구성방식을 활용한다. 또한 공용공간은 실내공간의 제약을 극복하기 위해 지하 선큰, 내부 중정 등과 연계되어 공간의 확장 효과를 주는 것으로 분석된다. 셋째, 인클로즈드형 쇼핑몰의 건축계획적 요소들은 오픈형 쇼핑몰에서 보이는 일상성의 개념에 따라 공간의 정체성을 만들어 가며, 대규모 실내 이벤트를 위한 공간을 계획하는 것이 특징이다.

Modeling and simulation of large crowd evacuation in hazard-impacted environments

  • Every year, many people are severely injured or lose their lives in accidents such as fire, chemical spill, public pandemonium, school shooting, and workplace violence. Research indicates that the fate of people in an emergency situation involving one or more hazards depends not only on the design of the space (e.g., residential building, industrial facility, shopping mall, sports stadium, school, concert hall) in which the incident occurs, but also on a host of other factors including but not limited to (a) occupants' characteristics, (b) level of familiarity with and cognition of the surroundings, and (c) effectiveness of hazard intervention systems. In this paper, we present EVAQ, a simulation framework for modeling large crowd evacuation by taking into account occupants' behaviors and interactions during an emergency. In particular, human's personal (i.e., age, gender, disability) and interpersonal (i.e., group behavior and interactions) attributes are parameterized in a hazard-impacted environment. In addition, different hazard types (e.g., fire, lone wolf attacker) and propagation patterns, as well as intervention schemes (simulating building repellent systems, firefighters, law enforcement) are modeled. Next, the application of EVAQ to crowd egress planning in an airport terminal under human attack, and a shopping mall in fire emergency are presented and results are discussed. Finally, a validation test is performed using real world data from a past building fire incident to assess the reliability and integrity of EVAQ in comparison with existing evacuation modeling tools.
