A numerical analysis for the space frame structure under ballistic and blast loads was performed using LS-DYNA, a commercial code. The space frame structure was developed to be adapted to the ground vehicle in the future and it was designed to build with Al7039 frames and lightweight multi-layered panels for the purpose of weight reduction and shock mitigation. The analyses have done for side impacts by a cylindrical projectile and Comp. C-4 explosive representing major threats to the vehicle. The deformed shape of the panel section and stresses as well as accelerations of the frames calculated from LS-DYNA were compared to the test results to validate the analysis model. The internal energies for panels and frames from LS-DYNA were also compared to each other to discern their role in absorbing the ballistic and blast impact.

The blast vibration can generate occupants dissatisfy as well as damage of physics nearby building. Then blast vibration estimation issue important problems. But, now blast vibration prediction inside-outside country not established objective method to express magnitude of vibration according to blast number. In this study, Our propose show our country problem of blast vibration about blast vibration measurement and this problems be able to find improve method.

Multi-objective optimization was conducted to obtain the optimal configuration of a composite sandwich structure with honeycomb-foam hybrid core subjected to underwater shock waves, which can fulfill the demand for light weight and energy efficient design of structures against underwater blast. Effects of structural parameters on the dynamic response of the sandwich structures subjected to underwater shock waves were analyzed numerically, from which the correlations of different parameters to the dynamic response were determined. Multi-objective optimization of the structure subjected to underwater shock waves of which the initial pressure is 30 MPa was conducted based on surrogate modelling method and genetic algorithm. Moreover, optimization results of the sandwich structure subjected to underwater shock waves with different initial pressures were compared. The research can guide the optimal design of composite sandwich structures subjected to underwater shock waves.
The use of the rigid polyurethane foam (RPF) to strengthen buried structures against blast terror has great interests from engineering experts in structural retrofitting. The aim of this study is to use the RPF to strengthen the buried structures under blast load. The buried structure is considered to study the RPF as structural retrofitting. The Guowei model (Guowei et al. 2010) is considered as a case study. The finite element analysis (FEA) is also used to model the buried structure under shock wave. The buried structure performance is studied based on detonating different TNT explosive charges. There is a good agreement between the results obtained by both the Guowei model and the proposed numerical model. The RPF improves the buried structure performance under the blast wave propagation.
A numerical analysis was made to investigate the intensity diminution of a simple silencer for high pressure blast flow fields. Reynolds-Averaged Wavier-Stokes equations were solved for an axisymmetric computational domain constructed by multi block Chimera grids. A blast flow field without the silencer was also calculated to validate the present numerical method. The evolution of high pressure blast flow fields was observed by depicting calculated contours of pressure and Mach number. It was found that the tested silencer could achieve 76 percent intensity diminution.

Nowadays, composite plates are widely used as high-strength structures to fabricate a dynamic loading-resistant armours. In this study, the shock load is applied by an explosion of spherical TNT charge at a specified distance from the circular composite plate. The composite plate contains a two-layer ceramic-metal armour and a poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) target layer. The dynamic behavior of the composite armour has been investigated by measuring the transferred effective stress and maximum deflection into the target layer. For this purpose, the simulation of the blast loading upon the composite structure was performed by using the load-blast enhanced (LBE) procedure in Ls-Dyna software. The effect of main process parameters such as the thickness of layers, and scaled distance has been examined on the specific stiffness of the structure using response surface method. After validating the results by comparing with the experimental results, the optimal values for these parameters along with the regression equations for transferred effective stress and displacement to the target have been obtained. Finally, the optimal values of input parameters have been specified to achieve minimum transferred stress and displacement, simultaneously with reducing the weight of the structure.

A projectile when passes through a moving shock wave, experiences drastic changes in the aerodynamic forces as it moves from a high-pressure region to a low pressure region. These sudden changes in the forces are attributed to the wave structures produced by the projectile-flow field interaction, and are responsible for destabilizing the trajectory of the projectile. These flow fields are usually encountered in the vicinity of the launch tube exit of a ballistic range facility, thrusters, retro-rocket firings, silo injections, missile firing ballistics, etc. In earlier works, projectile was assumed in a steady flow field when the computations start and the blast wave maintains a constant strength. However, in real situations, the projectile produces transient effects in the flow field which have a deterministic effect on the overtaking process. In the present work, the overtaking problem encountered in the near-field of muzzle guns is investigated for several projectile Mach numbers. Computations have been carried out using a chimera mesh scheme. The results show that, the unsteady wave structures are completely different from that of the steady flow field where the blast wave maintains a constant strength, and the supersonic and subsonic overtaking conditions cannot be distinguished by identifying the projectile bow shock wave only.
Supernova remnants (SNRs) are one of the most energetic astrophysical events and are thought to be the dominant source of Galactic cosmic rays (CRs). A recent report on observations of gamma rays from the vicinity of SNRs have shown strong evidence that Galactic CR protons are accelerated by the shock waves of the SNRs. The actual gamma-ray emission from pion decay should depend on the diffusion of CRs in the interstellar medium. In order to quantitatively analyze the diffusion of high-energy CRs from acceleration sites, we have performed test particle numerical simulations of CR protons using a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulation of an interstellar medium swept-up by a blast wave. We analyse the CRs diffusion at a length scale of order a few pc, and show the Richtmeyer-Meshkov instability can provide enough turbulence downstream of the shock to make the diffusion coefficient close to the Bohm level for energy larger than 30 TeV for a realistic interstellar medium.
In combat operations, naval ships may be subjected to considerable air blast and underwater shock loads capable of causing severe structural damage. As the experimental study imposes great monetary and time cost, the numerical solution may provide a valuable alternative. This study emphasises on numerical analysis for optimization of stiffened and unstiffened plate's structural response subjected to air blast load. Linear and non linear finite element (FE) modeling and analysis was carried out and compared with existing experimental results. The obtained results reveal a good agreement between numerical and experimental observations. The presented FE models can eliminate confusion regarding parameters selection and FE operations processing, using commercial software available currently.
This review paper investigates the use of shockwave attenuating materials within composite structures to enhance personnel protection against blast-induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI). This paper also introduces experimental methodologies exploited in the generation and measurement of shockwaves to evaluate the performance of the shock dissipating composites. The generation of shockwaves is elucidated through diverse approaches such as high-energy explosives, shock tubes, lasers, and laser-flyer techniques. Evaluation of shockwave propagation and attenuation involves the utilization of cutting-edge techniques, including piezoelectric, interferometer, electromagnetic induction, and streak camera methods. This paper investigates phase-separated materials, including polyurea and ionic liquids, and provides insight into composite structures in the quest for shockwave pressure attenuation. By synthesizing and analyzing the findings from these experimental approaches, this review aims to contribute valuable insights to the advancement of protective measures against blast-induced traumatic brain injuries.
