  • 이 논문에서는 새로 개정된 2000 SOLAS 규정에 근거하여 소형선박용 수동식 레이더 리프렉터(PRR-S) 설계에 관해서 기술했다. 이 연구의 설계개념은 PRR-S이 선박요동에 의해서 레이더 반사면적(RCS)이 변동하는 것을 방지하기 위하여 ‘catch rain’ 위치를 유지하도록 한 것이다. PRR-S은 원형판으로 구성한 옥타헤더럴 레이더 리프렉터와 요동방지를 위한 짐발장치로 구성하였다. 설계한 PRR-S는 전파흡수실에서 성능실험을 하였다. 실험결과, 기준으로 정한 Davis Echomaster사의 리프렉터 보다 설계한 PRR-S이 높은 RCS를 나타냈다.

Hydraulic conductivity estimation by considering the existence of piles: A case study

  • Estimation of hydraulic parameters is a critical step during design of foundation dewatering works. When many piles are installed in an aquifer, estimation of the hydraulic conductivity should consider the blocking of groundwater seepage by the piles. Based on field observations during a dewatering project in Shanghai, hydraulic conductivities are back-calculated using a numerical model considering the actual position of each pile. However, it is difficult to apply the aforementioned model directly in field due to requirement to input each pile geometry into the model. To develop a simple numerical model and find the optimal hydraulic conductivity, three scenarios are examined, in which the soil mass containing the piles is considered to be a uniform porous media. In these three scenarios, different sub-regions with different hydraulic conductivities, based on either automatic inverted calculation, or on effective medium theory (EMT), are established. The results indicate that the error, in the case which determines the hydraulic conductivity based on EMT, is less than that determined in the automatic inversion case. With the application of EMT, only the hydraulic conductivity of the soil outside the pit should be inverted. The soil inside the pit with its piles is divided into sub-regions with different hydraulic conductivities, and the hydraulic conductivity is calculated according to the volume ratio of the piles. Thus, the use of EMT in numerical modelling makes it easier to consider the effect of piles installed in an aquifer.

대형 캐비테이션 터널 내 선박 모형의 3차원 선체 반류 계측을 위한 레이저 유속계 개발 (Development of LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry) for Measuring Three Dimensional Hull Wake of Ship Model in Large Cavitation Tunnel)

  • Large Cavitation Tunnel (LCT) of KRISO enables us to conduct cavitation tests of the propeller attached to a ship model. As the ship model tests are done at rather high Reynolds number of 107~108, flow measurement system such as pitot tube cannot be employed because of structural safety problems in its system and difficulties in installing it within the test section. Thus, KRISO has developed new 3-D LDV system used in large test section of LCT. There are several difficulties in using 3-D LDV, which did not allow efficient operation of it. The first trouble was the calibration using the conventional pin hole. To make the focus with same laser-beam waists at the wanted position, the high spatial resolution CCD is utilized in the calibration procedure for 3-D LDV. The off-axis configuration provides two velocity components in the horizontal plane and on-axis configuration gives third velocity component in the vertical plane. The horizontal velocity components are also obtained in the coincidence mode, which prevents any misleading results in the off-axis configuration. The nominal wake of Aframax tanker model is measured by the developed 3-D LDV system. The measured hull wake showed good agreement with that obtained by CFD calculation.

해월(海越)송전선 하부의 선박 통항 안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Safety Assessment for Ship Sailing under Electric Power Cable)

  • 해월송전선의 해상고에 의하며 선박의 항로가 제한되는 해역에 있어서, 해월송전선에 관하여 현재 알 수 있는 정보는 아주 제한적인데, 주어진 정보를 토대로 송전선철탑들 사이의 임의의 위치에서도 해월송전선의 해상고를 알아낼 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 그리고 해월송전선의 하부를 선박이 항해할 경우의 안전성을 평가할 수 있는 방법론적 모델을 제시하였다. 실제 표본선박이 항해한 궤적을 조사하여 통계처리를 한 결과, 선박이 안전통항구간을 벗어날 확률은 약 0.00001 정도로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 네델란드 응용과학연구소의 보고서에 의한 안전기준(항만 내, 방파제 입구 부근에서는 0.0001 이하이면 안전하다고 판단.)보다 10배 정도 더 안전하다고 판단된다.

Design of a ship model for hydro-elastic experiments in waves

  • Large size ships have a very flexible construction resulting in low resonance frequencies of the structural eigen-modes. This feature increases the dynamic response of the structure on short period waves (springing) and on impulsive wave loads (whipping). This dynamic response in its turn increases both the fatigue damage and the ultimate load on the structure; these aspects illustrate the importance of including the dynamic response into the design loads for these ship types. Experiments have been carried out using a segmented scaled model of a container ship in a Seakeeping Basin. This paper describes the development of the model for these experiments; the choice was made to divide the hull into six rigid segments connected with a flexible beam. In order to model the typical feature of the open structure of the containership that the shear center is well below the keel line of the vessel, the beam was built into the model as low as possible. The model was instrumented with accelerometers and rotation rate gyroscopes on each segment, relative wave height meters and pressure gauges in the bow area. The beam was instrumented with strain gauges to measure the internal loads at the position of each of the cuts. Experiments have been carried out in regular waves at different amplitudes for the same wave period and in long crested irregular waves for a matrix of wave heights and periods. The results of the experiments are compared to results of calculations with a linear model based on potential flow theory that includes the effects of the flexural modes. Some of the tests were repeated with additional links between the segments to increase the model rigidity by several orders of magnitude, in order to compare the loads between a rigid and a flexible model.

해상교통류 평가모델 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Maritime Traffic Assessment Model)

  • 선박교통류 평가는 대상해역 해상교통특성 파악을 통하여 정량화된 체계화된 교통관리를 수행함으로써 해양사고를 예방하는데 중요하다. 해상교통류의 특성은 선박자동식별장치(AIS, Automatic Identification System)가 선박에 설치됨에 따라 이 장치에서 수신된 정보를 토대로 평가할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 해상교통관제센터(VTS, Vessel Traffic Services)에서 선박으로부터 수집된 위치, 속력, 침로, 시간 정보로부터 항로상에 해상교통류를 평가하기 위한 시뮬레이터를 구현하였다. 그 결과 해상교통관제센터에서 수집된 데이터로부터 선박 통항량, 통항분포, 선박속력분포, 기하학적 충돌빈도가 계산되어 표시된다. 이러한 해상교통류평가 평가는 해상교통관제사가 해상교통관리의 관점에서 해상안전을 위한 서비스를 제공하는데 유효하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

MR Tanker 실선 및 모형선 프로펠러 캐비테이션 및 변동압력 수치해석 연구 (Numerical Study on Propeller Cavitation and Pressure Fluctuation of Model and Full Scale ship for a MR Tanker)

  • Propeller cavitation extent, pressure fluctuation induced by cavitation, pressure distribution on propeller blade, total velocity distribution and nominal wake distribution for a MR Taker were computed in both conditions of model test and sea trial using a code STAR-CCM+. Then some of the results were compared with model test data at LCT and full-scale measurement (Ahn et al (2014); Kim et al (2014)] in order to confirm the availability of a numerical prediction method and to get the physical insight of local flow around a ship and propeller. The nominal wake distributions computed and measured by LDV velocimeter on the variation of on-coming velocity show the wake contraction characteristics proposed by Hoekstra (1974). The numerical prediction of propeller cavitation extent on a blade angular position and pressure fluctuation level on each location of pressure sensors are very similar with the experimental results.

쐐기형 모형선 주위 연속 쇄빙과정에 관한 입자 기반 수치 시뮬레이션 (Particle-based Numerical Simulation of Continuous Ice Breaking Process around Wedge-type Model Ship)

  • This paper covers the development of prediction techniques for ice load on ice-breakers operating in continuous ice-breaking under level ice conditions using particle-based continuum mechanics. Ice is assumed to be a linear elastic material until the fracture occurs. The maximum normal stress theory is used for the criterion of fracture. The location of the crack can be expressed using a local scalar function consisting of the gradient of the first principal stress and the corresponding eigen-vector. This expression is used to determine the relative position of particle pair to the new crack. The Hertz contact model is introduced to consider the collisions between ice fragments and the collisions between hull and ice fragments. In order to verify the developed technique, the simulation results for the three-point bending problems of ice-specimen and the continuous ice-breaking problem around a wedge-type model ship with bow angle of 20° are compared with the experimental results carrying out at Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO).

전파간섭환경에서 UAV를 활용한 선박의 백업항법시스템 설계 (Design for Back-up of Ship's Navigation System using UAV in Radio Frequency Interference Environment)

  • 국제항로표지협회에서는 해양 분야에서 활용하는 백업항법시스템의 경우 항만 입출항시 10 m의 수평정확도를 보장하도록 요구하고 있다. 대표적인 해양분야의 백업항법시스템인 eLoran은 10 m 이내의 수평 정확도를 만족함이 증명되었지만, 수신환경에 따라 항법성능이 저하되기도 한다. 특히 수신 안테나 주변의 잡음 및 멀티패스 등으로 인한 요인으로 인해 특정 상황에서는 항법 자체가 불가능해지기도 한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 환경에서 항만입출항 조건의 수평정확도 요구성능을 만족하기 위하여 UAV(unmanned aerial vehicles)를 활용한 선박의 백업항법시스템을 설계하였다. eLoran 신호 수신에 영향을 주는 주변 환경의 영향을 감소시키기 위하여 UAV에 카메라, IMU센서, eLoran 안테나 및 수신기를 장착하였으며, 선박의 안테나보다 높은 곳에서 카메라를 이용하여 랜드마크를 추적하고 일정 범위 내에서 eLoran 신호 수신과 위치 및 자세를 제어하도록 설계하였다. 선박에서는 UAV로부터 수신한 영상 및 자세 정보와 eLoran 신호를 이용한 선박기반 측위결과를 이용해 항만 입출항 시 수평정확도 요구성능을 만족할 수 있다.

근해통발조업의 안전향상 및 어로장비 개발을 위한 요인분석 (The analysis of questionnaire survey to develop advanced fishing gear and to improve safe fishing procedure for offshore pot fishery)

  • In this study, factors such as improvement of a fishing process and safety, reduction of the labor force and headcount and development of the automation technology for offshore (eel and crab) pot fishing vessels were analyzed. A questionnaire survey was conducted to analyze and select the key factors using independent/paired sample t-test and correlation analysis, and a living lab was operated with ship owners, skippers and experts to discuss practical needs of the site. From the result of questionnaire survey and field requirements, it was possible to understand the level of awareness of ship safety, general safety equipment, fishing work process and fishing safety equipment from the point of view of the field. In addition, there were differences in the measurement results of each items because the working environment and experience were different according to the position of the ship owner and the skipper. The results of the questionnaire survey and various perceptions of field stakeholders were reflected when analyzing the fishing system and fishing process to choose the development equipment applicable to the field. From the analysis results, the selected development equipment based on the fishing equipment and process currently in operation are pot washing device, catch separation and fish hold injection device, length limit regulations and bait ejection device after use, automatic main line winding device, bait crusher, automatic (crab) pot hauling separator and so on.
