The effects of moving accuracy on inteferometric 3D shape measurement (광 간섭계의 측정 정밀도와 구동 정밀도의 관계)

  • We present an interferometer system, which is able to perform both the phase shifting interferometry and white light interferometry. The interferometer system uses a d.c. motor to control the probe position with an accuracy of 10nm, which shows an outstanding performance on white light interferometry. However, the moving mechanism of d.c. motor is not accurate enough for the phase shifting interferometry that requires a moving precision less than 1 nm. We therefore propose a Fourier transform technique to calculate the phase of interferograms, which is strongly resistant to calibration errors and external vibration. Experimental results show that the Fourier transform technique is capable of reducing the measurement error caused by inaccurate movement within 0.1nm.

Hierarchial Encryption System Using Two-Step Phase-Shifting Digital Holography Technology Based on XOR and Scramble Operations (XOR 및 스크램블 연산 기반 2단계 위상 천이 디지털 홀로그래피 기술을 이용한 계층적 암호화 시스템)

  • In this paper, we implemented a hierarchical encryption system using two-step phase-shifting digital holography(PSDH) technology based on XOR and scramble operations. The proposed encryption system is a system that authenticates access through the issuance of an encryption key for access to individual laboratories, department offices, and universities. In the encryption process, we proposed a double encryption method using XOR and scramble operation with digital technology and two-step phase-shifting digital holography with optical technology. In the two-step PSDH process, an new method of determining the reference wave intensity without measuring it by using random common object image gererated from digital encryption process was also proposed. In the decryption process, the process is performed in the reverse order of encryption process. And only when the various key information used in the encryption process is correct, the encrypted information can be decrypted, so that the user can access the desired place. That is, there is a feature that can hierarchically control the space that can be accessed according to the type of key issued in the proposed encryption system. Through the computer simulation, the feasibility of the proposed hierarchical encryption system was confirmed.

Quality Improvement to Prevent Shifting Error of Tracked Vehicles (궤도차량 변속오류 예방을 위한 품질개선)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of shifting errors reported in military tracked vehicles and to improve related quality to prevent recurrence. Methods: A systematic disassembly and inspection of the transmission is carried out and an experimental simulation is conducted to reproduce the shifting error phenomenon. Electrical characteristic tests are subsequently performed and microscopic observation is also carried out on the disassembled connector parts such as pins and fractured surfaces. Results: Oil contamination and swelling deformation are observed in the connector to the vehicle due to oil leakage of its counterpart connector to the transmission. This causes electrical contact failure between both connectors in the fastened state, and it is found that shifting error of the tracked vehicle could occur subsequently. To prevent the recurrence of this phenomenon, comprehensive quality improvement is conducted including product improvement of the wiring harness assembly and strengthening activities for quality control and preventive maintenance. Conclusion: This study is expected to be helpful as a prior case study for cause analysis and recurrence prevention in the event of similar cases in the future.

An Improved Synchronization Control Scheme of a Low Cost 400Hz Power Supply for No-Break Power Transfer (저가격 고 신뢰성의 400Hz 전원의 무순단 전력절환용 개선된 동기화 기법)

  • This study proposes an improved synchronization control scheme for a low-cost 400Hz power supply for a no-break power transfer system. In the case of aircraft applications, the 400Hz power supply called ground power units is accepted and used as the external electrical power system during stopovers on ground. A momentary break in the supply occurs when shifting from one power source to another. To allow shifting without a break in the supply, the two power sources are momentarily connected in parallel. The proposed synchronization control is achieved by connecting an existing synchronization bus to the voltage zero-crossing signal of a generator power with discrete logic ICs and analog circuits. Therefore, unlike expensive controllers, such as DSP and CAN, the proposed control scheme is rather simple and may decrease operational cost. The practical feasibility of the proposed control scheme is proven by experimental results.

  • The high voltage driving system with multi-phase shifter including piezoelectric actuators comprised a driving power unit for outputting the driving power by converting input alternate current into direct current, a frequency shifting unit for supplying the direct current power and shifting or generating a frequency, a high-voltage amplification unit for amplifying the input signal outputted from the driving power unit and the frequency shifting unit into a high-voltage signal, and a phase shifting unit for shifting the phase difference of the amplified signal applied to the high-voltage amplification unit and driving plural piezoelectric actuators sequentially. The results that the operating voltage was stable, the voltage loss ratio was low and the response velocity was fast could be obtained. An experiment on performance of the high voltage driving system with multi-phase shifter designed and manufactured as above described was conducted by using a piezoelectric pump having 3 sheets of round unimorph piezoelectric actuators laminated respectively in a rectangular case. It sucks any fluid by causing the first piezoelectric actuator to shift from the inlet porter side, the phase delay of 60$^{\circ}$ causes the second piezoelectric actuator to begin to shift, and the phase delay of 120$^{\circ}$ causes the third piezoelectric actuator to begin to shift. As a result of measuring each change in the outlet flow rate of the piezoelectric pump, it was shown that the frequency-flow rate characteristic, the voltage-flow characteristic, and the load pressure-flow rate characteristic were improved.

  • Carbon dioxide emission has been increased by 7% in an annual average toward 212.5 million tons in 1990 from 108.7 million tons in 1980. Among emissions in 1990, industry, residential / commercial, transportation, other and non-energy have occupied 91.12, 68.04, 42.13, 7.13 and 4.09 million tons respectively. The Korea-scenarios corresponding to those of IPCC that is Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (A : modest control of $CO_2$; B : stringent control of $CO_2$, C: shifting fuel to renewable and nuclear energy in the second half of the next century ; and D: shifting fuel to renewable and nuclear energy in the first half of the next century show that the global-scale contributions of atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration are 0.77, 0.64 and 0.78% in 2050 for cases A,B, and C respectively. In all cases, the contributions were smaller than 0.09 % in 1985.

Drift Control for Multistory Moment Frames under Lateral Loading

  • The paper reports results of recent studies on the effects of column support conditions on the lateral displacements of moment frames at incipient collapse. The article presents a number of exercises in the plastic theory of structures that lead to useful design formulae. It has been shown that Drift Shifting (DS) is caused due to differences in the stiffnesses of adjoining columns, and that changes in drift ratios are more pronounced at first level column joints in both fixed as well as pinned base frames. In well proportioned moment frames, DS in the upper levels could be minimized, even reduced to zero. It has been demonstrated that DS can be eliminated in properly designed fixed and grade beam supported (GBS) moment frames. Several examples, including symbolic P-delta effects, have been provided to demonstrate the validity and the applications of the proposed ideas to the design and drift control of moment frames. The proposed methodology is exact within the bounds of the theoretical assumptions and is well suited for preliminary design and teaching purposes.

  • As the digital control technologies in automotive industry have advanced, electronic control units(ECUs) play a key-role to improve system performance. Transmission control unit(TCU) is a shifting controller for automatic transmission of which major functions are to determine the shift and manage the shifting process considering the various sensor signal on transmission and driver's commands. As with any ECU in vehicle, TCU performs complex algorithms such as shift control, diagnostic and failsafe functions. However, firmware design analysis is hardly possible by the reverse engineering due to code protection. Transmission simulator is a hardware-in-the-loop simulator which enables TCU to work in normal mode by simulating the electrical signal of TCU interface. In this research, diagnosis and failsafe algorithm implemented on commercialized TCU is analyzed by using the transmission simulator that is developed for wheel loader construction vehicle. This paper gives various experimental results on the proportional solenoid current trajectories for different operating modes, error detection criterion and limphome mode gears for all the possible cases of clutch malfunction. The derived results for conventional TCU can be applied to the development of inherent TCU algorithms and the transmission simulator can also be utilized for the test of TCU to be developed.

Development of an Electronic Starting Controller for Starting Motor of Packaged Power Systems (이동식발전설비의 기동전동기용 전자식 시동 제어장치 개발)

  • The core technology of a starting device in the packaged power system is the pinion gear shifting device and to limit the initial starting voltage. Although the conventional products have been used the starting controller using mechanical contactor, these have a big problem such as the uncertainty for the start of starting motor after a pinion gear is completely shifted or the arc demage due to high current. In this study, in order to solve these problems, we designed and fabricated a new product to achieve the safety and reliability as follows: the pinion gear-shifting control circuits to eliminate the uncertainty of the start, the starting control system using semiconductor device to prevent the arc demage of contactor caused by high current, a start safety devices for soft starting of series motor. In addition, we obtained the electrical safety by separating the pinion gear control circuit and the source circuit of motor.
