  • The dynamic modulus of hot mix asphalt can be determined according to the different combinations of testing temperature and loading frequency. The superposition rule is adapted to get the master curve of dynamic modulus for each hot mix asphalt. There are couple of different methods to get the shift factor which is a key for making the master curve. In this paper, Arrehnius, 2002 AASHTO, and experimental method was employed to get the master curve. Evaluation of dynamic modulus for 25mm base course of hot mix asphalt with granite aggregate and two asphalt binders(AP-3 and AP-5) was carried out. Superpave Level 1 Mix Design with gyratory compactor was adopted to determine the optimum asphalt binder content(OAC) and the measured ranges of OAC were between 4.1% and 4.4%. UTM was used for laboratory test. The dynamic modulus and phase angle were determined by testing on UTM, with 5 different testing temperature(-10, 5, 20, 40, & $55^{\circ}C$) and 5 different loading frequencies(0.05, 0.1, 1, 10, 25 Hz). Using the measured dynamic modulus and phase angle, the input parameters of Sigmoidal function equation to represent the master curve were determined and these will be adopted in FEM analysis for asphalt pavements. The shift factor and activation energy for determination of master curve were calculated.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify perceptions on fixed night shift system and turnover intention of general hospital nurses and to explore a desirable application plan for a fixed night shift system. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey. Participants were 300 nurses working at one general hospital in GyeongGi-Do, Korea. Data were collected from November 3 to 7, 2014, with a structured questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS/PC ver 20.0 programs. Results: Of the participants 73.5% had thought about turnover because of night shifts and the preconditions for desirable fixed night shift system were a payment plan differentiated according to work conditions and an adequate number of nursing staff. Economic and administrative supports like 'raising extra-pay for night shift' and 'increasing the number of paid holidays' were very important for a desirable fixed night shift system. Conclusion: The results indicate that the most important factor for a desirable fixed night shift system to decrease nurses' turnover intention is economic and administrative support according to the needs of the nurses. So nursing managers need to find a desirable fixed night shift system considering nurses' demographic characteristics and organizational characteristics.

  • The main objective of this paper is to analyze university students' modal shift for commuting trip due to the introduction of new urban rail transit in a satellite city of metropolitan area. The paper uses SP(2011)/RP(2013) data collected from Yeungnam University in Gyeongsan City, which is a satellite city of Deagu Metropolitan City. So far few researches, especially using before-and-after individual SP/RP travel survey, have been conducted on analyzing university students' modal shift due to the introduction of new urban rail transit. For this research, some descriptive statistical analyses were conducted. Furthermore, some empirical logit models were estimated for analyzing factors affecting the modal shift. Finally, some important findings and policy implications are discussed. The significant findings from this research are summarized as follows. From the descriptive statistical analyses of SP and RP data, it is found that the rate of modal shift to rail transit is relatively high especially for bus travellers. Furthermore, from the empirical SP model estimation, it is found that time saving is the most important factor affecting the modal shift to urban rail transit. On the other hand, from the empirical RP model estimation, it is found that residential location is the most important factor affecting the modal shift to urban rail transit.

  • The error rate equations of digitally modulated signals transmitted through the Gaussian noise and tone multiple interference channel have been derived. Using the derived equations of error probabilities in the environments of Gaussian noise tone interferer and Gaussian noise multiple interferer, the error rate performances of various digitally modulated signals have been evaluated, and compared in graphs as a function of average carrier to tone interferer power ratio(CIR), average carrier to multiple interferer power ratio(CIT) and the average carrer-to-Gaussian noise powr ratio(CIR). In this paper, the modulation schemes such as amplitude shift keying (ASK), phase shift keying(PSK), frequency shift keying(FSK), minimum shift keying(MSK), quadrature amplitud modulation(QAM) and amplitude phase shift keying(APK) have been selected for the study of performance comparison. The results of comparison show us that, in low bits/sec/Hz, PSK is superior to the other schemes, but in high bits/sec/Hz, mixed multi ary type is better than single multi ary type. And in strong noise evironment, the multiple interferer has much influence than tone interferer, however, in low noise environment. the mojor error factor is tone interferer. But tone interference effect nearly disappears over specified CIR level about 20[dB]. And the modulation schemes using amplitude are heavily influenced by multiple interference.

  • In this study, the effect of stiffness ratio between base frame and anchorgae is evaluated and the seismic verification of nuclear power plant equipment anchorage is performed for typical equipment. The stiffness ratio between base frame and anchorage is mainly controlled by the effective height of side wall plate. And, the change of that stiffness ratio cause the large shift or ovreturning axis of equipment base. This shift of overturning axis of equipment base is able to reduce the factor of safety about 10%. Therefore, the adequate method for evaluating of effective height of side wall is required as further study.

  • Background: Shift work increases the risk of chronic diseases, including metabolic diseases. However, studies on the relationship between shift work and renal function are limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between shift work and a decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Methods: Data were evaluated for 1,324,930 workers who visited the Korean Medical Institute from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020 and underwent a health checkup. Daytime workers were randomly extracted at a ratio of 1:4 after matching for age and sex. In total, 18,190 workers aged over 40 years were included in the analyses; these included 3,638 shift workers and 14,552 daytime workers. Participants were categorized into the shift work group when they underwent a specific health checkup for night shift work or indicated that they were shift workers in the questionnaire. The odds ratio was calculated using a conditional logistic regression to investigate the relevance of shift work for changes in GFR. Results: 35 workers in the shift group and 54 in the daytime group exhibited an estimated GFR (eGFR) value of < 60 mL/min/1.73m2 (p < 0.01). The difference in eGFR values between two checkups differed significantly depending on the type of work (p < 0.01); the difference in the shift work group (-9.64 mL/min/1.73 m2) was larger than that in the daytime work group (-7.45 mL/min/1.73 m2). The odds ratio for eGFR reduction to < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 in the shift group versus the daytime group was 4.07 (95% confidence interval: 2.54-6.52), which was statistically significant. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that eGFR decreases by a significantly larger value in shift workers than in daytime workers; thus, shift work could be a contributing factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Further prospective studies are necessary to validate this finding and identify measures to prevent CKD in shift workers.

  • In this paper, we propose the new polyphase sequence with the best nonperiodic autocorrelation property in the viewpoint of the merit factors, which are important criteria for a nonperiodic autocorrelation property. We propose the general implementation of a polyphase sequence generator over an integer residue ring by using a linear feedback shift register(LFSR), in addition, we analyze the linear complexities of polyphase sequences based on the proposed implementation method.

  • Wet-work can be defined as activities where workers have to immerse their hands in liquids for >2 hours per shift, or wear waterproof (occlusive) gloves for a corresponding amount of time, or wash their hands >20 times per shift. This review considers the recent literature on wet-work exposure, and examines wet-work as a main risk factor for developing irritant contact dermatitis of the hands. The aim of this paper is to provide a detailed description of wet-work exposure among specific occupational groups who extensively deal with water and other liquids in their occupations. Furthermore, it highlights the extent and importance of the subsequent adverse health effects caused by exposure to wet-work.
