This paper proposes a decision method of fuzzy weights by utilizing degrees of contribution in order to classify insect footprint patterns having difficulties to classify species clearly. Insect footprints revealed delicately in the form of scattered spots since they are very small. Therefore it is not easy to define shape of footprints unlike other species, and there are lots of noises in the footprint patterns so that it is difficult to distinguish those from correct data. For these reasons, the extracted feature set has obvious feature values with some uncertain feature values, so we estimate weights according to degrees of contribution. If the one of feature values has distinct difference enough to decide a class among other classes, high weight is assigned to make classification. A calculated weight determines the membership values by fuzzy functions and objects are classified into the class having a superior value.atu present experimental resultseighrontribution. The puncture properties of short-fiber reinforced rubber were investigated as functions of fiber aspect ratio(AR: length of fiber/diameter of fiber), fiber content, specimen size and testing velocity. The puncture stresses of the matrix and short-fiber reinforced rubber decreased with specimen size, and increased with testing velocity at same specimen size. As the fiber AR increased the puncture stress at given fiber content also increased. The problem of the specimen shape was investigated by the comparison of the tensile strength with puncture stress. The forces acting in the membrane wall of the matrix and the short-fiber reinforced rubber showed a similar data regardless of specimen size. And those increased with testing velocity at same specimen size. As the fiber AR increased the force acting in the wall at given fiber content also increased. Overall, it was found that the specimen size, testing velocity had an important effects on the puncture properties.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the cross-sectional ratio of the courtyard, an external space that not only was used as a workplace, shelter, and playground in our lives, but also gave symbolic meaning to Koreans. Since the beginning of 2000, Hanok began to receive rapid attention from people, and Hanok construction and remodeling were actively carried out in urban and rural areas. In particular, Bukchon and Seochon in Seoul, around Cheonmachong in Gyeongju, and Hanok Village in Jeonju became popular places related to hanok, and Gyeongju, Buyeo, Gongju, and Iksan were designated as ancient districts to encourage the construction of hanok. However, although hanok is being built with national trends, support, and interest, attention is focused only on the external form, materials, and convenience of use, and the composition and system of the external space have not been properly reviewed. Therefore, this study aims to understand the functions and meanings of the yard in traditional housing, and to analyze the proportion of the height of the building surrounding the yard and the depth of the yard in terms of closure and opening. In addition, the system and characteristics of the external space of traditional architecture felt by this can be used as basic data in designing traditional architecture.

This paper deals with the strongest static arches with the solid regular polygon cross-section. Both span length and volume of arch are always held constant regardless the shape functions of cross-sectional depth of regular polygon. The normal stresses acting on such arches are calculated when both static vertical and horizontal point loads are subjected. By using the calculating results of stresses, the optimal shapes of strongest static arches are obtained, under which the maximum normal stress become to be minimum. For determining the redundant of such indeterminate arches, the least work theorem is adopted. As the numerical results, the configurations, i.e. section ratios, of the strongest static arches are reported in tables and figures. The results of this study can be utilized in the field of the minimum weight design of the arch structures.

Recently, as various cases of using deep learning in the health-care field are increasing, functions such as electrocardiogram examination and body composition analysis through wearable device can be provided to provide rational decision-making and a process tailored to the individual. In order to utilize deep learning, it it most important to secure refined data, and this data is being made through human intervention or unsupervised learning. In this paper, we propose a model that conducts unsupervised learning by clusters according to gender and age using human body data such as chest and waist circumferences, which are easy to measure, and classifies them with CNN. For data, the 7th human body data provided by Korean Agency for Technology and Standards was used. Through this, it it thought that it can be applied to various application cases such as personalized body shape management service and obesity analysis.
The existing concrete bridges are time-varying working systems, where the maintenance strategy should be planned according to the time-varying performance of the bridge. This work proposes a time-dependent residual capacity assessment procedure, which considers the non-stationary bridge load effects under growing traffic and non-stationary structural deterioration owing to material degradations. Lifetime bridge load effects under traffic growth are predicated by the non-stationary peaks-over-threshold (POT) method using time-dependent generalized Pareto distribution (GPD) models. The non-stationary structural resistance owing to material degradation is modeled by incorporating the Gamma deterioration process and field inspection data. A three-span continuous box-girder bridge is illustrated as an example to demonstrate the application of the proposed procedure, and the time-varying reliability indexes of the bridge girder are calculated. The accuracy of the proposed non-stationary POT method is verified through numerical examples, where the shape parameter of the time-varying GPD model is constant but the threshold and scale parameters are polynomial functions increasing with time. The case study illustrates that the residual flexural capacities show a degradation trend from a slow decrease to an accelerated decrease under traffic growth and material degradation. The reliability index for the mid-span cross-section reduces from 4.91 to 4.55 after being in service for 100 years, and the value is from 4.96 to 4.75 for the mid-support cross-section. The studied bridge shows no safety risk under traffic growth and structural deterioration owing to its high design safety reserve. However, applying the proposed numerical approach to analyze the degradation of residual bearing capacity for bridge structures with low safety reserves is of great significance for management and maintenance.
A review of previous studies shows that although there is a considerable difference between buckling loads of structures under follower and non-follower lateral loads, only the buckling load of FGM elliptical cylindrical shell under non-follower lateral load was investigated in the literature. This study is the first to obtain the buckling load of elliptical FGM cylindrical shells under follower lateral load and also make a comparison between buckling loads of elliptical FGM cylindrical shells under follower and non-follower lateral loads. Moreover, this research is the first one to derive the load potential function of elliptical cylindrical shell. In this regard, the FGM cylindrical elliptical shell was modeled using the semi-analytical finite strip method and based on the First Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT). The shell is discretized by strip elements aligned in the longitudinal direction. The Lagrangian and harmonic shape functions were considered in the circumference and longitudinal directions, respectively. The buckling pressure of the shell under follower and non-follower lateral loads was obtained from eigenvalue problem. The results obtained from the model were compared with those presented in the literature to evaluate the validity of the model. A comparison index was defined to compare the buckling loads of the shell under follower and non-follower lateral load. A parametric study was carried out to investigate the effects of material properties and shell geometry characteristics on the comparison index. For the elliptical cylindrical shells with length-to-radius ratio greater than 16 and major-to-minor axis ratio greater than 0.6, the comparison index reaches to more than 20 percent which is significant. Moreover, the maximum difference is about 30 percent in some cases. The results obtained from the parametric study indicate that the buckling load of long elliptical cylindrical shell under non-follower load is not reliable.
In this paper, buckling and free vibration of imperfect, functionally graded beams, including porosities, are investigated, using a higher order shear strain theory. Due to defects during the manufacturing process, micro porosities may appear in the material, hence the appearance of this imperfection in the structure. The material properties of the beams are assumed to vary regularly, with power and sigmoid law, in the direction of thickness. A novel porosity distribution affecting the functionally graded volume fraction is presented. For the compact formulation used for cementite-based materials and already used in P-FGM, we have adapted it for the distribution of S-FGM. The equations of motion in the FG beam are derived using Hamilton's principle. The boundary conditions for beam FG are assumed to be simply supported. Navier's solution is used to obtain the closed form solutions of the FG beam. The numerical results of this work are compared with those of other published research to verify accuracy and reliability. The comparisons of different shear shape functions, the influence of porosity, thickness and inhomogeneity parameters on buckling and free vibration of the FG beam are all discussed. It is established that the present work is more precise than certain theories developed previously.

The study presents a new hybrid data-driven method by combining radial basis functions neural networks (RBF-NN) with the Jaya algorithm (JA) to provide effective structural health monitoring of arch dams. The novelty of this approach lies in that only one user-defined parameter is required and thus can increase its effectiveness and efficiency, as compared to other machine learning techniques that often require processing a large amount of training and testing model parameters and hyper-parameters, with high time-consuming. This approach seeks rapid damage detection in arch dams under dynamic conditions, to prevent potential disasters, by utilizing the RBF-NNN to seamlessly integrate the dynamic elastic modulus (DEM) and modal parameters (such as natural frequency and mode shape) as damage indicators. To determine the dynamic characteristics of the arch dam, the JA sequentially optimizes an objective function rooted in vibration-based data sets. Two case studies of hyperbolic concrete arch dams were carefully designed using finite element simulation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RBF-NN model, in conjunction with the Jaya algorithm. The testing results demonstrated that the proposed methods could exhibit significant computational time-savings, while effectively detecting damage in arch dam structures with complex nonlinearities. Furthermore, despite training data contaminated with a high level of noise, the RBF-NN and JA fusion remained the robustness, with high accuracy.

This paper introduces an optimized design for a sensor bracket used to measure the wear amount of an automobile brake pad, based on a dynamic kriging surrogate model. During testing, the temperature of the brake pad can increase beyond 600℃, which often causes sensor malfunction. Therefore, it is essential to optimize the shape of the sensor bracket to minimize heat transfer. To reduce the computational cost of the optimization, the heat-transfer simulation is replaced by a dynamic kriging surrogate model. Dynamic kriging utilizes the best combination of correlation and basis functions and constructs an accurate surrogate model. Following optimization, the temperature of the sensor position decreases by 7.57%. The results from the surrogate model under optimum conditions are verified by a heat-transfer simulation, and the design optimization using a surrogate model is found to be effective.
