The collapsed cases are more and more increasing at the large scaled structures because of increasing of the risk due to natural disasters. The measuring instrument such as inclinometer, total station on reinforced-soil retaining wall has been used that displacement, settlement for stability assessment, maintenance and management of it. But because these has gotten many instability measuring factors for stability analysis of RRW, new system needs to complement disadvantage of existing system. In this study, we considered a application of Visual Monitoring System (VMS) to measure a displacement in face of wall through Lab. test about block assembly of segmental retaining wall during load test.

Three-dimensional total station system which integrated the instrument with Target Pin and TEMS 3D software developed by SKEC R&D center was applied to a tunnel excavation for monitoring of convergence and crown settlement. The efficiency of the system was proved as the result in the aspects of exact monitoring and prediction of rock conditions ahead of the face. To monitor the behavior of tunnel lining at the maintenance stage, DOCS system was applied to the subway tunnel section. Such many effects as the vibration of sensors, verification of the system efficiency, the effect of test trains operation, the variation of temperature and the effect of high voltage was checked. Thus the management scheme for tunnel maintenance was laid out as a proposal.
Time Domain Refletometry, or TDR, is a remote sensing electrical measurement technique that has been used for many years to determine the spatial location and nature of various objects, especially in the United States of America and Australia at mining industry. Since early on 1990, the TDR techniques have been applied to the geotechnical engineering such as : deformation measurement of rock slope and landslide, monitoring of ground water content and ground water level change, investigation of ground contamination and its movement. The first application of this technique, in 1996, to the domestic area is to determine the possibility of ground settlement caused by subsidence from abandoned underground mines at the Tongri and Gosari in Gangwon-d. In this paper, through the results of analysed deformation data between conventional measurements and the TDR, it was concluded that the TDR technique is a useful instrumentation method for the prediction of ground deformation.
In this paper, the long-term performance of highway embankment using tire shred-sandy soil mixture as a lightweight fill material was evaluated through the field monitoring and field test programs. A tire shred-sandy soil embankment was constructed to support a four-lane highway in Indiana, which was built with a 50 : 50 volumetric ratio of tire shreds (maximum particle dimension of 76 mm) and sandy soil (SP, USCS). After opening of the road for traffic, no noticeable differential settlement and lateral deformation were observed, and no adverse environmental impact on temperature was detected as a result of the construction of the tire shred-sandy soil embankment. Moreover, FWD test results showed that tire shred-sandy soil mixture provides bearing capacity comparable to that of conventional fill and meets the criterion for a design life of 20 years.
Vibrations induced by traffic loading and construction activities are extremely important due to their potential to cause damage to adjacent structures and toy complaints to the neighbors. Vibration induced damage to the built environment may be caused by the direct transmission of vibrations as well as by the, vibration induced differential settlement. In order to effectively control the vibration related problems, the accurate in-situ vibration monitoring is essential. In this paper, a calibration technique of a geophone which is widely used in practice was described. Once the frequency characteristics of individual geophones were calibrated, the 3fomponent geophone was developed for the in-depth vibration measurement, and the dot ailed calibration and application techniques of the 3fomponent geophone were described. Vibrations caused by blasting, train loading, and pile driving were measured and the applicability of the 3fomponent geophone was assessed.

The ground shear force at the expected failure surface and resistance force due to reinforced anchor can act as important factors according to a failure type from the stability viewpoint at a slope. Furthermore, the anchor's axial force may vary at an anchor-reinforced slope due to ground weathering, settlement, and corrosion in the incompletely anti-corrosion treated steel wire strand at a ground where the bearing plate is installed. However, in case that the resistance force of the anchor is locally lost due to the variation of the anchor's axial force, the resistance force may not play the role so that the external force tends to be transferred to the surrounding anchors, causing an increase in the tensile force in the surrounding anchors. Accordingly, a stability problem at the entire slope may occur, which requires much attention. Thus, this study proposed a method to monitor a variation trend of the tensile force of anchors installed at a slope and infer the external stability at the entire slope considering the monitoring result.
In order to intuitively grasp the earth pressure direction acting on the structure and displacement state, displacement data in the horizontal and vertical directions were processed using the sigmoid function. A displacement coordinate system was set up for each axis. The system can intuitively check the current displacement and assess the management stage of each point. A displacement path can be compiled from continuously recorded points, allowing trends in the displacement's history and stress direction to be known. Analysis of data measured for excavated ground, found that displacement occurred in the direction of destressing at all points, and that the points' management state steady. Similar behavior trends were found among measurement points with high spatial correlation, whereas differing behavior trends occurred among measurement points with low spatial correlation. If the correlation analysis of the precursor and behavior area is performed using the continuously distributed surface settlement data and displacement coordinate system, it will be possible to predict the failure time and area.
As urban infrastructure is aging, the possibility of accidents due to the failures or breakdowns of infrastructure increases. Especially, aging underground infrastructures like sewer pipes, waterworks, and subway have a potential to cause an urban ground sink. Urban ground sink is defined just as a local and erratic collapse occurred by underground cavity due to soil erosion or soil loss, which is separated from a sinkhole in soluble bedrock such as limestone. The conventional measurements such as differential settlement gauge, inclinometer or earth pressure gauge have a shortcoming just to provide point measurements with short coverage. Therefore, these methods are not adequate for monitoring of an erratic subsidence caused by underground cavity due to soil erosion or soil loss which occurring at unspecified time and location. Therefore, an alternative technology is required to detect a change of underground physical condition in real time. In this study, the feasibility of a novel magnetic resonance based monitoring method is investigated through laboratory tests, where the changes of path loss (S21) were measured under various testing conditions: media including air, water, and soil, resonant frequency, impedance, and distances between transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX). Theoretically, the transfer characteristic of magnetic field is known to be independent of the density of the medium. However, the results of the test showed the meaningful differences in the path loss (S21) under the different conditions of medium. And it is found that the reflection coefficient showed the more distinct differences over the testing conditions than the path loss. In particular, input reflection coefficient (S11) is more distinguishable than output reflection coefficient (S22).

The present research paper is devoted to solving an urgent problem, i.e., the energy saving and energy efficiency of buildings. A rapid settlement method and experimental control of the energy conservation based on the specific characteristics of the thermal energy consumption for the heating and ventilation of the buildings, and as well as the rapid development of wireless sensor networks, can be used in a variety of monitoring parameters in our daily lives. Today's world has become quite advanced with smart appliances and devices such as laptops, tablets, TVs, and smartphones with various functions, and their use has increased significantly in our day-to-day lives. In this case, the most important role is played by a wireless sensor network with its development and use in heterogeneous areas and in several different contexts. The fields of home automation, process management, and health management systems make extensive use of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we explore the main factors of the microclimate in an indoor environment. We control the temperature humidity, and other factors remotely using sensors and Internet-of-Things technologies.
Estimation of shield TBM tunnelling-induced volume loss is of great importance for ground settlement control. This study proposed a simple method for evaluation of volume loss during TBM tunnlling, which is able to take into account of shield machine configurations and main driving data in calculation. The method was applied to analyze the tunnelling cases with earth pressure balanced and slurry pressure balanced shiled TBM, and mostly, reasonable agreements with monitoring results were found. Additional discussions were made for some disagreements.
