  • The estimation of soil stabilization is of great importance concerning the construction of structures on weak soil. A typical model of soil stabilization is considered as replacement, which is based on ground at failure due to direct loading on weak soil. The calculation of the line of predicting settlement was carried out using RPL and DIKE programs. The DIKE program is showing a tendency to excel totally about this embankment of the seadike. Hereafter, This program will be contributed widely to the construction of offshore structures on weak soil.

  • The field plate load test a good potential for determining modulus since it measures both plate pressure and settlement. However, because The field plate load test is expensive and takes plenty of time for operation, it is very difficult to figure out the test characteristics of railroad roadbed in detail. For faster and economical operation, the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer(DCP) and the Light Falling Weight Deflectometer(LFWD) have been utilized for estimating the bearing capacity of railroad roadbed. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between the test(PLT, DCP, LFWD) of the railroad roadbed in Korea. The DCP test and LFWD test for evauluating the strength of railroad roadbed materials produced in Korea are presented in this paper.

  • The deformation modulus is an important variable which can be used to predict settlement of structures, analyze horizontal directions of piles and design roads. Though to predict deformation modulus relationships using standard penentration test N-value and undrained shear strength were suggested , these relationships are not appropriate in domestic areas because these relationships are based on foreign areas. Therefore, in this study, with field test results, reasonable equations in domestic area are suggested to estimate deformation modulus.

  • In this study, filling performance of concrete is investigated experimentally for the developmenmt of the concrete to be used in concrete filled steel tubular columns with inner diaphrams. Water-cement ratio with 3 levels, unit water contents with 5 levels, unit coarse aggregate contents with 5 levels, and slump flow with 3 levels are selected for test variables. For the estimation of the filling properties of the concrete, slump flow, V-type funnel time, U-type box height are measured and compared. A device which simulates the steel tubular column is designed and three kinds of concrete are tested with it. As the results, the filling performance is decreased with increasing coarse aggregate content. And, within the scope of this study, concretes with coarse aggregate content less than 880 kg/$\textrm{m}^3$ show good filling performance. To prevent excessive settlement of the concrete pumped into the steel tubular column, slump flow should be controlled within the limited range.

  • If the load of constructing vehicles during the construction work acts on the road or the ground surface on the soft ground, due to the excess stresses in soils the trafficability of the vehicles influences the constructing efficiency, constructing period and so on. Stress distribution in soils is the very important element to design and to solve the problems of settlement, safety of foundations and trafficability of constructing vehicle in civil engineering. This research represents the comparative estimation of the actual and theoretical measurement on the underground stress of outer layer for each soil after the observation of each top soil layer for its vertical and horizontal stress in (1)homogeneous sand ground (2) weak stratum with the sand soil (3) weak stratum with gravel of the soil model, and it also investigates the effect of subsidence of ground by the repeated load. The underground stress turn out to be different in the value of theoretical and actual measurement after the trial examination of model.

  • The vertical pressure due to soil prism load and surface surcharge load acts on buried pipe, and occasionally uplifting force due to earthquake or differential settlement acts on it. In this paper, study was performed to estimate the pressure acting on the buried pipe due to soil prism load through analyzing Marston-Spangler theory by new method. And loading tests on the buried flexible pipe were performed to study on the response of the pipe due to surface surcharge load. Also, through the estimation of uplifting resistance theory and uplifting test for buried pipe, the method to determine the maximum uplifting resistance of buried pipe was proposed.

  • 구조물 하중에 의한 점성토 지반의 침하량을 보다 정확하게 평가하기 위해서는 지반 내의 흙요소가 경험하는 실제적인 응력경로와 이에 따른 변형양상이 적절하게 고려되어야만 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 축대칭 조건의 다양한 응력경로를 따라 발생하는 정규압밀 점성토의 변형 거동을 고찰한 기존의 실험적 연구결과를 바탕으로 응력경로법에 근거한 보다 간편하고 합리적인 침하량 평가기법을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 제시된 평가기법을 기존의 1차원적인 침하량 평가기법들과 함께 실제와 유사한 조건을 가지는 가상지반의 침하량 산정에 적용해 보았으며, 동일한 조건에 대해 소성모델(MCC 모델)과 혼합압밀이론에 바탕을 둔 유한요소해석을 실시하였다. 그리고 이를 통해 얻어진 결과들을 비교.분석함으로써 기존 평가기법들의 문제점과 한계를 명확히 제시하였으며, 응력증분 평가방법이 침하량 평가에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • This study estimated reasonable rental for Kleingarten (weekend farm) in Kyungpook province. To estimate Willingness To Pay (WTP) for Kleingarten rental, a survey was committed for the aged 20 and above who live in Daegu area. Through the Single Bounded Dichotomous Choice (SBDC) method, WTPs were estimated from 338,361 won to 357,646 won. Explanatory variables are leisure frequency, state of retirement, intention to get Kleingarten, sex and income levels and so on. As we expected, all explanatory variables are positively related with WTP.

  • It is very important to manage efficient data for safety and maintenance of those constructs. Estimation for structural safety can be evaluated by using data that surveys various structural durability and safety elements. so, it should be based on synthetic and efficient data that includes a variety of related safety elements obtained from a structure. It will subsequently be managed properly and economically. Accordingly, we will approach efficient maintenance management using a Geographic Information System (GIS) with data from structural-safety diagnosis and a Global Positioning System (GPS). In this study, we noted that by using the data that measures the factors (crack, incline, settlement etc.) of various structures as evaluate safety degree. And the horizontal coordinate variation/time of structure was monitored using the GPS easily.

Bearing Capacity Characteristics of Stone Column by Numerical Analysis (수치해석에 의한 쇄석기둥의 지지력 특성)

  • Stone column is one of the soft ground improvement method, which can enhance ground conditions such as the settlement reduction and the increasement of bearing capacity with applying the crushed stone instead of sand. In recent, general construction material, sand is in short of supply. Therefore, the bearing capacity improvement by the stone column is considered as the alternative method needed in many cases so the bearing capacity estimation is considered as important point. Nevertheless, adequate estimation methods to predict bearing capacity of stone column considering stone column and improvement effect of ground is not yet prepared. For the analysis of above mentioned points, the behavior of stone column were simulated as numerically on various property cases of crushed stone and surrounded ground. Through the numerical analysis of simulation results, the formula for the bearing capacity estimation of stone column was suggested. This formula was verified by comparing the prediction result of in situ test.
