  • The building structure is planned to maximize the use of space in recent. It was developed of a hybrid OCB (Optimized Composite Beam) for trying to take advantage of the maximize space. The OCB is composed of the steel h-beam section reinforced by open strands in negative moment zone and the psc concrete section in positive zone. Flexural behaviors of typical architectural bybrid OCB section was investigated. The 15 m OCB specimen was tested under three point static loading system. Following results are obtained from the tests; 1) The OCB with 15 m span develop initial flexural crackings under the 171% of full service loading. 2) Overall deflections of OCB under the service loads are less than those of the allowable limit in KCI Code provision. 3) The crack patterns, failure mode and ultimate load capacity of test specimen and F.E. model in this paper and they are compared to each other. The OCB is verified of structural reliability from the experimental results.

  • Many Web sites adopt SMS(Short Message Service)-based user authentication when a user loses her password or approves an online payment. In SMS-based authentication, the authentication server sends a text in plaintext to a user's phone, and it allows an attacker who eavesdrops or intercepts the text to impersonate a valid user(victim). We propose a challenge-response scheme to prove to the authentication server that a user is in a certain place at the moment with her smartphone beside her. The proposed scheme generates a response using a challenge by the server, user's current location, and a secret on the user's smartphone all together. Consequently, the scheme is much more secure than SMS-based authentication that simply asks a user to send the same text arrived on her phone back to the server. In addition to entering the response, which substitutes the SMS text, the scheme also requests a user to input a passphrase to get the authentication process started. We believe, however, the additional typing should be tolerable to most users considering the enhanced security level of the scheme.

  • This study was designed firstly to measure the job satisfaction (JS) levels of personnel engaged in contract food-service management company (CFMC), secondly to compare the job satisfaction levels by personal and company-related characteristics, and thirdly to identify the effects of JS facets on overall job satisfaction. Of 1135 respondents, there were 712 employees in the headquarters and 423 in the branch office. From an analysis on job satisfaction, overall job satisfaction level was 3.22 out of a maximum 5 and the co-worker (3.71) facet of JS was the highest job satisfaction followed by supervision (3.32), work itself (3.26), working condition (3.15), promotion (2.95) and payroll (2.74). In comparison of job satisfaction by personal characteristics, the personnel who were male (p < .01), had associate degrees (p < .01) or long-term careers in foodservice field (p < .05), or were regular employees (p < .01) perceived significantly higher than others for overall JS. In comparison of the job satisfaction by company-related characteristics, overall JS was significant by company scale (p < .01) and by work place (p < .05), but it was not significant by operating group. Finally, on the regression analysis for the effects of JS facets on overall JS, adjusted R2 was 0.534 (p < .001) and all six JS facets, especially payroll, had a positive effect on overall JS significantly (p < .001). Considering that the goal of enterprise on profit-making through customer satisfaction (CS) and the role of personnel on CS at moment of thrust (MOT), the findings confirmed the necessity for continuous internal marketing and human relation management focusing on the lower level of JS facets.

  • In recent years, various Social Network Service (SNS) is emerging as a new means of communication were enjoying a lot of popularity among consumers. Accordingly, an online word-of-mouth marketing through the SNS is prevalent. At this moment, the majority of companies selects the SNS used as resources of online word-of-mouth marketing on the assumption that the more a SNS is popular (followers or visitors based), the more it has an influence. In addition, the existing studies about the popularity or influence on the SNS were not distinguish them separately. The former researchers used popularity mixed with Influence. Therefore, this study, we have conducted a survey with people in their twentieswho use SNS most to do an empirical analysis of the relationship between popularity and Influence on the SNS. According to the results of this study, it has a weak correlation between popularity and Influence. So, it is necessary to distinguish between popularity and influence.

  • This paper deals with two contents: first, distributions of plate slenderness ratios, stiffened plate slenderness ratios, and stiffener slenderness ratios, which include dimensions and material variables of stiffened plates, of stiffened plates of large-sized in-service vessels, and, second, comparison of compressive strengths. The investigated vessels consist of 59 tankers, 49 bulkers, 28 product carriers, 15 container carriers, and 12 multi-purpose vessels. The tankers are ranged from handymax class to VLCC and larger than Suezmax class. The sizes of the bulkers are 20K to 200K deadweight. The maximum size of containers is less than 5000TEU class. Two parameters for normal distributions of the slenderness ratios (mean and standard deviation) are suggested and probable ranges of the slenderness ratios are also graphically presented. The ultimate strengths of the stiffened plates are presented using the various simplified formulas and nonlinear FEAs. As well, average compressive strength curves, which are necessary for the estimation of the hull girder moment capacities, are proposed. It is proved that formulas for stiffened plates in CSR overestimate slightly in overall average strain range. Mode5 formula (plate buckling mode) in CSR show unreasonably conservative results with respect to the ultimate strengths rather than post-ultimate average compressive strengths.

  • In this study, general bacterial counts and coliform counts, which are hygienic indicator microorganisms, were tested for candy, chocolate, and jelly which are easily available and enjoyed around. After dropping each sample on the desk, indoors, and outdoors, it is immediately collected, or washed and collected to confirm the myth of the 3-second rule. Immediately after removing the wrapping paper, each sample was dropped on the desk, indoors, and outdoors, and after 3 seconds from the moment of contact with the surface, and then collected in a sample bag using sterilized sanitary gloves. After the same operation, each sample was rinsed for 5 seconds using sterilized sanitary gloves and sterilized distilled water, and then collected in a sample bag. The number of bacteria detected in non-washing candies was 41 CFU/g at outdoor and the number of bacteria detected in non-washing chocolate was 76 CFU/g at outdoor. The number of bacteria detected in non-washing jellies was 79 CFU/g at outdoor. Coliform group was not detected in all samples. This showed good results at the level of m = 10,000 or less, which is an allowable value suggested in the Food Code. Also, effect of washing on contaminated food was confirmed. This result is remarkably low compared with the microorganism specimens shown in Food Code, and it is confirmed that contamination occurs but not high value. Therefore, the myth of the 3-second rule is true compared to the figures based on Food Code. However, it showed the characteristics of bacteria that could survive and cross-contaminate on dry food surfaces and emphasized the importance of hygiene through food contact to unsanitary surfaces to minimize the risk of food poisoning.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the systems thinking level of pre-service teachers using rubrics of evaluating systems thinking. For this purpose, systems thinking level model, which can be applied to education or science education, was selected through literature analysis. Eight pre-service teachers' systems thinking were investigated through the systems thinking analysis tool used in domestic research. The systems thinking presented by the pre-service teachers were transformed into the box type causal map using Sibley et al. (2007). Two researchers analyzed the systems thinking using rubrics of evaluating systems thinking. For data analysis, quantitative analysis was performed through correlation analysis using SPSS. In addition, the qualitative analysis of the box type causal map was conducted and the consistency with the quantitative analysis results was verified. The results indicated that the correlation between the 5-Likert systems thinking measurement instrument and the rubrics score was highly correlated with the Pearson product-moment of .762 (p <.05). In the hierarchical correlation of the systems thinking level, the STH model was analyzed with a very high correlation with the Pearson product-moment of .722~.791, and 4-step model was analyzed .381~.730. The qualitative analysis suggested the concept to be included in the low level of system thinking, the higher the level, the less the concept that is presented properly. In conclusion, the level of systems thinking can be derived as a result of research that there is clearly, a hierarchical part. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a systems thinking level model applicable to science education and develop and validate items that can measure the level of systems thinking.
