DEDMS : Distributed Environment Document Management System Model based on the XML-RPC (XML-RPC 기반의 분산환경 문서관리 시스템 모델)

  • Even the document resources offered from web server can be represented in the form of URL/URI, it can not necessarily be guaranteed that corresponding resources exist due to a dynamic change of sewer environment In this paper, integrated document administration system is therefore proposed and modeled using the XML-RPC technology which guarantees the reliance of resources, and handles a dynamic server resource management and request of clients. The proposed system is composed of middleware and server systems. The former system manages dynamic server resources, and the latter reports the updated information of documentations stored in server by client from the server to middleware system. As a result, effective storing management of dynamic resource in distributed server could be archived and building cost of a new web server could be reduced due to an applicability to current web sewer. In addition platform independent and efficient data management was obtained by using the XML-RPC protocol.

  • The Internet has become an important instrument for providing many pieces of information to us. And server systems offer the various services after processing a volume of information, it's network topology also has been complex for providing information. Therefore this expansion means the importance of fast and sustained management of server systems. But most of server systems are located in fire-walls to allow only restricted access. Moreover, due to the difference of management based on the different operating system of each server system, management of server system is not to efficiency. That is, sever administrators have to manage by themselves many kinds of servers by using local-based or socket-based single access applications. Therefore, we design and implement a middleware system which allows to manage many kinds of severs integrally ruling XML-based Web Services which have distributed object technology such as CORBA, Java RMI and DCOM, but are free from platforms or development languages. System also provides location transparency and terminal independence and calls a server system management command to manage systems.

  • The development of a Marine Engine Room Simulator system for training and research is described. Development objectives of the system are for both student training, research and development work. The system includes a distributed server/client architecture for 1 to 1, or 1 to many client simulation operation through OPC server, complete separation of visual elements from the controlling routines and the ability to work on the mathematical model independent of the controller and visual systems. A graphical user interface for the man-machine interface has been developed and the mathematical model has been updated. Various engine room operational situations can be simulated. The use of marine engine room simulator for training of sea going engineers and its competency for STCW-95 is discussed.

  • With the enormous growth of the Internet, an increasing number of people in corporations use the Internet for communicating with the outside world, for gathering information, and for doing business. Internet technology may have its greatest impact not on general culture, but rather on corporations. It has already begun to revolutionize the way that companies operate and do business. When Internet technology is applied and used inside a corporation, and open only to its employees, it is referred to as an Intranet. The same technologies that underlie corporate Intranets form the basis of the larger Internet. The benefit of Intranet is 1) low construction cost 2) easy system management 3) friendly user interface 4) OS and H/W independent, etc. This paper provides the concept of Internet and Intranet, compares client/server and Intranet environment, and propose case study of implementation from client/server to Intranet environment.

  • The convergence of broadcasting and telecommunication technologies is a key issue of the ubiquitous networks. So this paper offers the convergence of integrated telecommunication networks and broadcasting system, Advanced Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (AT-DMB), and the interconnection of them via the Media Independent Information Server/Service (MIIS). Then, this paper proposes the fast wakeup and connection mechanism with concepts for improving QoS and energy efficiency simultaneously. In the proposed convergence network, our mechanism places the key on the minimization of both the incoming service delay destined to a turned-off interface by using the broadcasting network and the additional energy consumption. This paper further evaluates the performance of proposed mechanism through the numerical and experimental analysis and has confirmed the decrease of both service delay and energy consumption.

  • In this paper, we design thin-client framework capable of application sharing & data access on the Internet, and apply related skills, such as X windows system, pseudo server, CODA file system, MPI(Message Passing Interface). We suggest a framework for the thin client to access data produced by working on a server optimally as well as to run server side application, even in the case of network down. Additionally, it needed to reflect all local computing changes to remote server when network is restored. To design thin client framework with these characteristics, in this paper, we apply distributed pseudo server and CODA file system to our framework, also utilize MPI for the purpose of more efficient computing & management. It allows for implementation of network independent computing environment of thin client, also provide scalable application service to numerous user through the elimination of bottleneck on caused by server overload. In this paper, we discuss the implementing method of thin client framework in detail.

  • 최근 컴퓨터와 제반 기술들의 눈부신 발달로 인해 대용량의 멀티미디어 데이터를 다루는 서비스들이 많이 등장하고 있다. 주문형 비디오 서비스(Video on Demand)가 가장 대표적인 예라고 할 수 있으며, 이를 구현하기 위한 많은 방법들이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재까지 개발되어 있는 VoD 시스템에 관하여 살펴보고, 이를 기반으로 PASS(Parallel and Scalable Server) VoD 시스템을 제안한다. PASS VoD 시스템은 병렬 비디오 서버로서 SAN(System Area Network)로 연결된 independent proxy 구조와 비슷한 구조를 가지는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 PASS VoD 시스템에 대하여 설명하고 PASS VoD 시스템이 scalable 함을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents a speaker recognition system intended for use in human-robot interaction. The proposed speaker recognition system can achieve significantly high performance in the Ubiquitous Robot Companion (URC) environment. The URC concept is a scenario in which a robot is connected to a server through a broadband connection allowing functions to be performed on the server side, thereby minimizing the stand-alone function significantly and reducing the robot client cost. Instead of giving a robot (client) on-board cognitive capabilities, the sensing and processing work are outsourced to a central computer (server) connected to the high-speed Internet, with only the moving capability provided by the robot. Our aim is to enhance human-robot interaction by increasing the performance of speaker recognition with multiple microphones on the robot side in adverse distant-talking environments. Our speaker recognizer provides the URC project with a basic interface for human-robot interaction.

  • This paper present the control of an intelligent home robot based on home network. The existing research is almost research of independent robot. home network will be a way that equipments in home exchange information. As robot combine home network, robot will be more intelligent and more powerful. We benefit for that load is divided in home network environment. The robot which has ultrasonic sensors performs obstacle avoidance with the Fuzzy Algorithm. Ethernet serial converter transmit the measuring data of home to a home server and the home server accumulates data. The home server controls the robot and manages home according to the acquired data. This paper supposed the home network system that consist of home server, embedded robot and intelligent home robot.
