  • This paper proposes a method to detect fall action by using stereo images to recognize emergency situation. It uses 3D information to extract the visual information for learning and testing. It uses HMM(Hidden Markov Model) as a recognition algorithm. The proposed system extracts background images from two camera images. It extracts a moving object from input video sequence by using the difference between input image and background image. After that, it finds the bounding rectangle of the moving object and extracts 3D information by using calibration data of the two cameras. We experimented to the recognition rate of fall action with the variation of rectangle width and height and that of 3D location of the rectangle center point. Experimental results show that the variation of 3D location of the center point achieves the higher recognition rate than the variation of width and height.

  • The study focused on the petrology and petrochemistry of the so called "Ganghwa syenitic rocks" which intruded into metasediment of basement in southeastern part of Ganghwa Island. The geologic sequence of the mapped area was shown in table 1, 10 model analyses and 7 chemical analyses on the rock samples taken from the Ganghwa syenitic rocks and Manisan granite have been used to discuss the nomenclature of the rocks and petrological relationship between rock types. The petrograpical and petrochemical features based on, the analyses are as follows: 1) Ganghwa syenitic rocks consist of Ganghwa alkali syenite and Ganghwa diorite porphyry which based on the classification of the subcommision on systematics of igneous of IGUS. Ganghwa diorite porphyry which occured as dike forms are intruded into Ganghwa alkali syenite. The rock forming minerals of Ganghwa alkali syenite are composed of perthite, plagioclase, quartz, hornblend and chlorite in major, and zircon, apatite, sericite and magnetite in minor. Ganghwa diorite porphyries consist of plagioclase, biotite, hornblend, orthoclase and chlorite, with, porphyritic texture. 2) In silica-oxides variation (Fig. 2) and AMF diagram (Fig_ 3), the Ganghwa alkali syenite is similar to the trend of Daly's average basalt-andesite-dacite-rhyolite than Skaergaard which shows the trend of the fractional crystallization of magma, and equivalent to the alkali rock series by Peacock. 3) The general trend of data points shift to plagioclase, and are superimposed on the alkali rich terminal part of the granodiorite province of SW Finland in normative Q-Kf-Pl(Fig. 4) and Or-Ab-An diagram respectively. The above-mentioned evidences suggested that the Ganghwa syenitic rocks are the differential products resulted by assimilation of intermediated magma and metasedment rock under relatively rapid cooling condition.

  • Protein carboxyl O-methyltransferase (E.C.2.1.1.24) may play a role in the repair of aged protein that is spontaneously incorporated with isoaspartyl residues. The porcine brain carboxyl O-methyltransferase was cloned in the pET32 vector, and overexpressed in E.coh (BL21) that harbors pETPCMT, which encodes 227 amino acids, including tagging proteins at the N-terminus. The protein sequence of the cloned porcine brain PCMT (r-pbPCMT) shares a 98% identity with that of human erythrocyte PCMT and rat brain PCMT. It is 100% identical with that of bovine brain. The r-pbPCMT was purified using Ni-NTA affinity chromatography and digested by enterokinase in order to remove the protein tags. Then Superdex 75HR gel filtration chromatography was performed. The r-pbPCMT exhibited similar in vitro substrate specificities with the PCMT that was purified from porcine brain. The molecular weight of the enzyme was estimated to be 24.5 kDa on the SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The $K_m$ value was $1.1{\times}10^{-7}\;M$ for S-adenosyl-L-methionine. S-adnosyl-L-homocysteine was a competitive type of inhibitor with the $K_i$ value of $1.38{\times}10^{-4}\;M$. The enzyme has optimal activity at pH 6.0 and $37^{\circ}C$. These results indicate that the expressed enzyme is functionally similar to the natural protein. It also suggests that it may be a suitable model to further understand the function of the mammalian enzyme.

  • Misuse IDS is known to have an acceptable accuracy but suffers from high rates of false alarms. We show a behavior based alarm reduction with a memory-based machine learning technique. Our extended form of IBL, (XIBL) examines SNORT alarm signals if that signal is worthy sending signals to security manager. An experiment shows that there exists an apparent difference between true alarms and false alarms with respect to XIBL behavior This gives clear evidence that although an attack in the network consists of a sequence of packets, decisions over Individual packet can be used in conjunction with misuse IDS for better performance.

  • The filamentous ascomycete Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is well known for its ability to produce a large variety of hydrolytic enzymes. Two $\alpha$-amylases ScAmy54 and ScAmy43 predicted to play an important role in starch degradation were showed to produce specific oligosaccharides essentially maltotriose that have a considerable commercial interest. Primary structure of the two enzymes was established by N-terminal sequencing, MALDI-TOF masse spectrometry and cDNA cloning. The two proteins have the same N-terminal catalytic domain and ScAmy43 derived from ScAmy54 by truncation of 96 amino acids at the carboxyl-terminal region. Data of genomic analysis suggested that the two enzymes originated from the same $\alpha$-amylase gene and that truncation of ScAmy54 to ScAmy43 occurred probably during S. sclerotiorum cultivation. The structural gene of Scamy54 consisted of 9 exons and 8 introns, containing a single 1,500-bp open reading frame encoding 499 amino acids including a signal peptide of 21 residues. ScAmy54 exhibited high amino acid homology with other liquefying fungal $\alpha$-amylases essentially in the four conserved regions and in the putative catalytic triad. A 3D structure model of ScAmy54 and ScAmy43 was built using the 3-D structure of 2guy from A. niger as template. ScAmy54 is composed by three domains A, B, and C, including the well-known $(\beta/\alpha)_8$ barrel motif in domain A, have a typical structure of $\alpha$-amylase family, whereas ScAmy43 contained only tow domains A and B is the first fungal $\alpha$-amylase described until now with the smallest catalytic domain.

  • This study was aimed to produce a transgenic zebrafish expressing the human KCNE1 gene. Initially, the entire CDS of the human KCNE1 gene was amplified from a human genomic DNA sample by polymerase chain reaction using a primer set engineered with restriction enzyme sites (EcoRI, BamHI) at the 5' end of each primer. The resultant 402 bp KCNE1 amplicon flanked by EcoR1 and BamH1 was obtained and subsequently cloned into a plasmid vector pPB-CMVp-EF1-GreenPuro. The integrity of the cloned CDS sequence was confirmed by DNA sequencing analysis. Next, the recombinant vector containing the human KCNE1 (pPB-CMVp-hKCNE1-EF1-GreenPuro) was introduced into fertilized eggs of zebrafish by microinjection. Successful expression of the recombinant vector in the eggs was confirmed by the expression of the fluorescence protein encoded in the vector. Finally, in order to assure that the stable expression of the human KCNE1 gene occurred in the transgenic animal, RNAs were extracted from the animal and the presence of KCNE1 transcripts was confirmed by RT-PCT as well as DNA sequencing analysis. The study provides a methodology to construct a useful transgenic animal model applicable to the development of diagnostic technologies for gene therapy of LQTS (Long QT Syndrome) as well as tools for cloning of useful genes in fish.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to classify a document using a Recurrent Neural Network by extracting features considering word sense and contexts. Word2vec method is adopted to include the order and meaning of the words expressing the word in the document as a vector. Doc2vec is applied for considering the context to extract the feature of the document. RNN classifier, which includes the output of the previous node as the input of the next node, is used as the document classification method. RNN classifier presents good performance for document classification because it is suitable for sequence data among neural network classifiers. We applied GRU (Gated Recurrent Unit) model which solves the vanishing gradient problem of RNN. It also reduces computation speed. We used one Hangul document set and two English document sets for the experiments and GRU based document classifier improves performance by about 3.5% compared to CNN based document classifier.

  • The hybrid peptides, CA-ME, CA-MA and CA-BO, with the N-terminal sequence 1-8 of cecropin A and the N-terminal sequences 1-12 of melittin, magainin 2 and bombinin, respectively, have more improved antibacterial activities. CA-MA was found to have stronger antifungal activity against Trichoderma sp than other hybrid peptides and their parental peptides. In order to elucidate the relationships between the peptide structure and antifungal activity, several analogues of CA-MA or CA-BO were also designed and synthesized by the solid phase method. An tifungal activity was measured against T. reesei and T. viride, and hemolytic activity was measured by a solution method against human red blood cells. The residue 16 of CA-MA, Ser, was found to be important for antifungal activity. When the residue was substituted with Leu, showed powerful antifungal activity was dramatically decreased. CA-MA, P1, P4 and P5 designed in this study showed powerful antifungal activity against T. reesei and T. viride with low hemolytic activity against human red blood cells. These hybrid peptides will be potentially useful model to further design peptides with powerful antifungal activity for the effective therepy of fungal infection and understand the mechanisms of antifungal actions of hybrid peptides.

  • Recently, there has been a lot of research on graph-type data because it can model seamless the application domains such as GIS, network, WWW, multimedia presentations etc., and domain in which the data sequence is important. In this paper, an efficient code system, called node code system, is proposed to evaluate paths of DAG in a multimedia presentation graph. The node code system assigns a unique binary string to each node of a graph. The comparison of node codes of two nodes tells the connectivity between the nodes without actual traversal of a graph. The method using the property of the node code system allows us to construct the paths between two nodes more efficiently than the method using conventional graph traversals. The algorithms to construct paths using the node code system are provided.

  • Even though many researches are conducted for the conservation and restoration of endangered species Menyanthes trifoliata, recently, there is no study on the threatening factors to this plant. This is the first time in Korea to study growth and feeding characteristics of Deilephila elpenor as a threatening factor to Menyanthes trifoliata through an experiment. Experiment was done with 6 Eephant hawk-moth larvae and change of body weight, food preference, and ingestion amount of Bog-bean were investigated. It took 27 days from larva to pupa and maximum body weight of lavae was in the range of 4-7.5g. The food preference sequence of the lavae was Menyanthes trifoliata, Impatiens balsamina, Ampelopsis brevipedunculata var. heterophylla, Parthenocissus tricuspidata. Ingestion model shows the total amount of ingestion by a larva is 11-30g and this amount can be acquired at $0.03-0.08m^2$ of Menyanthes trifoliata pure stand. This study showed Deilephila elpenor as a potential threatening factor and suggests that the conservation and restoration plan of endangered species Menyanthes trifoliata include the control plan of Deilephila elpenor, also.
