  • To develop the Exhaust Maniverter(Manifold and converter) it needs to consider flow characteristics related to durability and performance of the catalyst, manufacturability, etc. This paper presents the analysis results regarding to flow characteristics such as flow uniformity, tangential speed, O2 sensor sensitivity and CHT (conjugate heat transfer) for the LCF(Low Cycle Fatigue) for gasoline 2.0 liter engine. The results are satisfactorily corresponded to the general criteria. Also skin temperature and pressure drop wire measured at the Engine Bench. These results can be useful for the design guide for Exhaust Maniverter.

TRIZ를 활용한 유아 및 노약자를 위한 안전감지시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Security Detection System for Infant, the Old and the Weak by using TRIZ)

  • There are no products, systems to manage health and detect security for infant, the old and the weak in Korea. Recently, the concerns of parents are increasing more about all of children(baby, infant, etc) because rate of birth is decreasing gradually. Also, the average span of human life is on an increasing trend according to well-being and evolution of medical treatment. Therefore, this treatise analyzed problems in managing and following-up infant, the old and the weak at present. By using TRIZ to solve problems, we devised new conceptional ideas, detail designs to manage health, detect security, cope with correspondences for them and developed the prototype and tested it. Excellent performances are proved through various field test.

폐 FRP선박의 재활용공정에서 용이한 면포추출공정을 위한 화학적 처리 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study For The Simple Method In Dividing The Layers of Fiber-reinforced Plastic)

  • 중소형 폐 선박으로부터 배출되는 FRP를 재활용하기 위한 방법으로 층상으로 배열된 로빙층과 매트층을 분리하는 것은 에너지 면에서나 환경적인 면에서 많은 장점을 가지고 있다. 비록 로빙층과 매트층은 모두 유리섬유로 이루어져있으나 수지함유량의 차이와 유리섬유의 조직형태의 차이로 인하여 재활용 용도는 매우 달라지고 있다. 그러나 로빙층은 매트층에 비해 얇은 두께로 존재한다는 이유로 인해 로빙층을 FRP에서 분리할 때 기계가 자동적으로 층간의 차이를 인식하기는 매우 어렵다. 따라서 이 추출과정에서 많은 로빙층의 손실과 공정의 난이도에 의한 처리시간 지연 등의 문제가 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 유리의 구성비가 다른 두 층의 화학적 성질의 차를 이용하여 광학적으로 층간 인식이 가능한 방법을 모색하였다. FRP에 대해 유리의 $SiO_2$와 반응하는 플루오르산(HF) 용액으로 처리한 후 수용성 염료를 도포한 경우 두 층간의 차별화가 확연하게 일어났다. 본 연구는 이 결과를 이용하여 폐 FRP의 면포분리 공정의 효율성을 극대화 할 수 있는 시스템을 개발 하였다.

Electrospun Nanofibrous Polyacrylonitrile(PAN)/ Fe2O3 Membrane as Co2Gas Sensor

  • Polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/$Fe_2O_3$ nanocomposite membranes with a thickness of 0.02 mm were electrospun by adding 0 to 5 wt% of $Fe_2O_3$ into PAN. The surface tension, density, kinematic viscosity and dynamic viscosity of the PAN solution were determined to be $33.8{\pm}1mN/m$, 0.9794 g/ml, $1548.6mm^2/sec$ and 1516.7 cP, respectively. The average diameters of PAN fibers containing 0, 1 2, 3, and 4 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ particles were 300, 260, 210, 130, and 90 nm, respectively. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy results showed that the addition of $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles to the PAN mat reduced the absorption peak intensity at $2242cm^{-1}$ ($C{\equiv}N$ bond) while it caused a sharp increase in the peak intensity at $2356cm^{-1}$(C=O bond). Thus, it appears that an appropriate amount of $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles in the PAN backbone leads to an improvement of the performance of the $CO_2$ gas sensor, most likely due to the change of functional groups in the membrane.

재가노인 유헬스 생활지원기기의 실용화를 위한 여성노인의 선호 (A Study on the Preference of Old Women for the Higher Usability of u-Health Life Support Appliances)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the preference and the needs of old womens on the life support appliances i.e. medication dispenser, video phone, activity monitor and sleep monitor. The appliances may be improved reflecting the result of the questionnaire asking about the preferred functions and designs. The respondents were 141 female seniors of 65 years and older, living in Ulsan city or Cheongju city, Korea. Following is the list of results. (1) The medication dispenser, responded as highly preferred, met some worries over the troubles by power stoppage especially while one is out, letting her forget the medication time. (2) The video phone was worried over the cases of hearing failure by small sound, and watching failure by weakening sight. (3) The activity monitor, like the medication dispenser, was worried about the troubles while one is out or out of the monitoring scope, its expense, and the privacy, (4) The sleep monitor met the worries over the inadequacy for the sleeping mat on the floor and the emission of electromagnetic waves. (5) The preferred designs were (1) white or red standing medication dispenser, (2) wall-mounted video phone working by voice, (3) metal activity monitor sensor with white or yellow bracelet.

State Estimation Technique for VRLA Batteries for Automotive Applications

  • The state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health (SOH) estimation of batteries play important roles in managing batteries for automotive applications. However, an accurate state estimation of a battery is difficult to achieve because of certain factors, such as measurement noise, highly nonlinear characteristics, strong hysteresis phenomenon, and diffusion effect of batteries. In certain vehicular applications, such as idle stop-start systems (ISSs), significant errors in SOC/SOH estimation may lead to a failure in restarting a combustion engine after the shut-off period of the engine when the vehicle is at rest, such as at a traffic light. In this paper, a dual extended Kalman filter algorithm with a dynamic equivalent circuit model of a lead-acid battery is proposed to deal with this problem. The proposed algorithm adopts a battery model by taking into account the hysteresis phenomenon, diffusion effect, and parameter variations for accurate state estimations of the battery. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiments by using an absorbed glass mat valve-regulated lead-acid battery and a battery sensor cable for commercial ISS vehicles.

  • In this paper, the designed fish robot is researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. This paper is a study on how the outside technology merely to find the location of fish robots without specific sensor or internal devices. This model is designed to detect the position of the Robotic Fish in the Mat lab and Simulink. This intends to recognize the shape of the tank via a video device such as a camera or camcorder using an image processing technique to identify the location of the robotic fishes. Here, we are applied the two methods, one is Hom - Schunk Method and second one is newly proposed method that is the comparing image data algorithm. The Horn - Schunck Method is used to obtain the velocity for each pixel in the image and the comparing image data algorithm is proposed to obtain the position with comparing two video frames and assumes a constant velocity in each video frame.

발목관절에서 힘과 위치 측면의 고유수용성감각 수준이 균형능력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Force and Position Aspects of the Ankle Proprioception on the Balance Ability)

  • Despite of a lot of studies about proprioception tests, there are little study results to investigate the relationship between the functional movement and proprioception level. In this study, we tried to perform quantitative analysis for the effect of ankle joint proprioception level on the one leg standing postural control ability. Nine healthy people volunteered for this study. Force and position aspects of proprioception were evaluated using the electromyography system (EMG) and mobile clinometer application, respectively. The center of pressure (COP) trajectories, measured by a pressure mat sensor, were used for quantitative analysis of balance for each subject. We computed indices and errors of force and position aspects of proprioception from the EMG and ankle angle. Mean velocity of total and anterior-posterior direction (Vm and Vm_ap), root mean squared distance in anterior-posterior direction (RDap), travel length (L), and area (A) of COP trajectories were also calculated as indices of postural control ability of subjects. Two aspects of proprioception showed the low correlation from each other as previous studies. However, the EMG error of gastrocnemius lateral activation showed a high correlation coefficient with COP variables such as Vm (ρ=0.817, p=0.007), Vm_ap (ρ=0.883, p=0.002), RDap (ρ=0.854, p=0.003), L (ρ=0.817, 0.007) and A (ρ=0.700, p=0.036). Within our knowledge, this is almost the first study that investigated the relationship between proprioception level and functional movement. These study results could support that the ankle joint proprioception facilitation exercise would have positive effects on functional balance rehabilitation interventions.

  • 대부분의 역사에 개찰구와 매표소가 구비되어 있거나 탑승 검표원이 드문 국내 철도 시스템과는 달리 해외의 경우, 버스 혹은 철도차량의 각 출입문 근처에 압력센서 발판 혹은 적외선 센서 그리고 CCTV 카메라를 이용한 승객 계수 시스템이 이용 되어져 왔다. 이러한 승객 계수 시스템에 의해 수집된 정보는 요일별, 시간대별 그리고 정류소별 차량 승하차 승객 수 파악을 위한 솔루션을 제공함으로써 대규모의 차량 운영사로 하여금 효율적인 차량배치 및 불필요한 인력낭비 방지를 통한 이익창출을 가능케 할 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 철도차량 출입문 근처에 적외션 센서를 장착하여 차량 승하차 승객수를 계산하는 시스템의 특정 및 무선망 (GPS, WLAN, Cellular)과 연동시 제공되는 기타 기능들에 대해 서술하였다.

Research of Body Pressure Distribution Change with the Use of BackJoy and Satisfaction of Human Sensibility

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of BackJoy on how it effectively reduces the physical load generated in a posture in which the user sits, increases user's comfort and satisfaction, and maintains the correct posture. Background: Because of development of science and economic development, most office workers and students spend about 75% of their working time in chairs. However most of them have a poor posture. Method: This experiment conducted measurement using a pressure mat and surveyed to evaluate fatigue level, satisfaction and comfort of sit. The study is experimented 20 male and 14 female participants. The participants carried out four different types of tasks and each task took 20 minutes long. Results: In the case of experiment results before and after the use of BackJoy, average pressure, contact area and pressure per unit area appear to prove that using BackJoy is more effective. Conclusion: Through this study, the BackJoy's effects for the maintenance of good posture and loads that occur in the body are reduced. In the future study, there are some researches needed for various verifications using an EMG sensor that shows loads of vertebrae and we need to analyze each group of the participants by dividing them. Application: The evaluation method used in this study can be applied to evaluating ergonomic chairs.
