  • Synthesis and characterization of photosensitive orthonaphthoquinonediazide-sulfonyl derivatives were studied. These photoactive compounds underwent a UV induced transformation to the base-soluble photoproduct. The photoresists were prepared using these photoactive compounds with low molecular weight m-cresol novolacs as matrix resin. And photosensitive characteristics of the photoresists were studied. 3, 4, 5-Trihydroxy-benzophenone with bulky resonance structure increased the sensitivity and the solubility rate of the exposed region. The mixture of PAC and matrix resin having 3:8 weight ratio had the moderate rate of dissolution in the developer. The photoresist using these conditions showed the best snsitivity and contrast under the fixed conditions.

  • Four esters of succinic and maleic acid were synthesized, separated by thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and identified using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). A comparison of matrix materials showed that 2,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,6-DHB) yielded a greater ionization efficiency than 2,5-DHB prior to TLC separation. The location of each ester sample on the TLC plate was estimated by comparing the developed plate with a duplicate plate that had been visualized by immersion in a $KMnO_4$ solution. Generally, mass spectra obtained from the $KMnO_4$-visualized plate were relatively poor. Reproducible mass spectra with high peak abundance were difficult to obtain using the 2,6-DHB matrix from crude synthetic esters extracted from the TLC plates. Significant improvements in both reproducibility and sensitivity were realized by using pencil lead as the MALDI matrix. The current methodology will be beneficial to organic chemists since it can provide a guideline for simple and rapid characterization of small organic compounds.

  • The operating principal of a ring laser gyroscope depends on the phase difference for the counter-propagating waves within a closed path. The reflecting mirrors mounted on the monoblock form the traveling waves. The manufacturing accuracy of the monoblock influences the traveling path of ray, the sensitivity of laser resonator for misalignments, and diffraction losses. A 3 $\times$ 3 ray transfer matrix was derived for optical components with centering and squaring errors in a ring resonator. The matrix can be utilized to predict the optical ray paths on the basis of the manufacturing errors of the monoblock as well as the misalignment of mirrors. Then the distance and orientation (o. slope) at the arbitrary plane inside the resonator along the ideal optical path can be calculated from the chain multiplication of the ray transfer matrix for each optical component in one round trip. We also show that the counter-propagating rays In a ring resonator with errors does not coincide in each round trip, which results in gain difference between two beams, and how these errors can be adjusted through the alignment procedure. Finally this 3 $\times$ 3 ray matrix formalism can be used to calculate the beam size and its displacement from the optical axis and the deviation at the diaphragm.

  • This paper confirmed the applicability of model to Korean rivers through the calibration and sensitivity analysis of LRCS rainfall runoff model for 18 storm events of Songriweon station in Nakdong river system, and achieved that LS and WLS were better than LAD by model fitting results. Diagonal element of "hat" matrix and affluence measures were used by analysis of parameter estimates, and parameter IL was the most important parameter in model output. By the results of error propagation according to parameter error, parameters IL, TP, F1 were affected by error propagation, and this is measure of sensitivity for the model output. This paper confirmed the relationship of calibration and sensitivity analysis of model through analysis of sensitivity coefficient, diagonal element $h_i$ and $D_i$._i$.

  • To cope with the limits of conventional O-D trip matrix collecting methods, several approaches have been developed. One of them is bilevel Programming method Proposed by Yang(1995), which uses Sensitivity Analysis Based(SAB) algorithm to solve Generalized Least Square(GLS) problem. However, the SAB a1gorithm has revealed two critical short-comings. The first is that when there exists a significant difference between target O-D matrix and true O-D matrix, SAB algorithm may not produce correct solution. This stems from the heavy dependance on the historical O-D information, in special when gravel Patterns are dramatically changed. The second is the assumption of iterative linear approximation to original Problem. Because of the approximation, SAB algorithm has difficulty in converging to Perfect Stackelberg game condition. So as to avoid the Problems. we need a more robust and stable solution method. The main purpose of this Paper is to show the problem of the dependency of Previous models and to Propose an alternative solution method to handle it. The Problem of O-D matrix estimation is intrinsically nonlinear and nonconvex. thus it has multiple solutions. Therefore it is necessary to require a method for searching globa1 solution. In this paper, we develop a solution algorithm combined with genetic algorithm(GA) , which is widely used as probabilistic global searching method To compare the efficiency of the algorithm, SAB algorithm suggested by Yang et al. (1992,1995) is used. From the results of numerical example, the Proposed algorithm is superior to SAB algorithm irrespective of travel patterns.

  • During the diagnostic process of the various oral and maxillofacial lesions, we should consider the following: 'When should we order diagnostic tests? What tests should be ordered? How should we interpret the results clinically? And how should we use this frequently imperfect information to make optimal medical decisions?' For the clinicians to make proper judgement, several decision making tools are suggested. This article discusses the concept of the diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity and specificity values) with several decision making tools such as decision matrix, ROC analysis and Bayesian analysis. The article also explain the introductory concept of ORAD program.

  • Dynamic response of any small structure is always affected by the mass of the attached accelerometer. This paper predicts the natural frequencies and frequency response functions by removing the mass loading effect from the accelerometer. This mass loading is studied on a simple cantilever beams by varying the location of accelerometer. By using sensitivity analysis with iteration method, accelerometer mass and location are obtained. The predicted natural frequencies of the small cantilever beam without the accelerometer's mass show good agreement with the structural re-analysis.

  • A visual servoing method has been proposed based on disturbance observer to eliminate the effect of the off-diagonal component of image feature Jacobian, since performance indices such as measurement sensitivity of visual features, sensitivity of the control to noise and controllability could be improved when an image feature Jacobian was given as a block diagonal matrix. In this paper, experimental results of disturbance observer-based visual servoing are discussed where Samsung FARAMAN-AS1 6-axis industrial robot manipulator is employed. Also, the feature saturator is proposed to stabilize the disturbance observer loop by saturating the differential changes of the image features.

  • This paper presents a new method for contingency selection of the transient stability. Contingency ranking in transient stability is done by estimating the change in the imaginary part of electro-mechanical oscillation mode, which represents modal synchronizing coefficient. And the change in the imaginary part is obtained by applying eigen-sensitivity theory of augmented matrix to linear system model. The Proposed algorithm was tested for New England System and compared the results with PSS/E dynamic simulation.

  • In order to modify flexible mode frequencies, finite element analysis is applied for a lens-holder in pick-up actuator. Several design parameters like shape and local dimension of a lens-holder were selected adequately and sensitivities of the design variables for vibration modes were obtained by FE analysis and this result was used for updating FE model. A sensitivity matrix between the natural frequencies and the design variables was calculated by finite difference method. By comparing the calculated natural frequencies with target frequencies, modification of the design variables was acquired and used for improving FE model. Calculated natural frequencies after several iterations by FE analysis coincided with target frequencies and the errors between them were minimized.
