Purpose: The purpose of this preliminary study was to describe the physical and psychosocial distress of critically ill patients undergoing noninvasive ventilation(NIV). Method: Open-ended question interviews were conducted with four patients using NIV. Considering the outcomes of the interviews, literature, and experts'opinions, a survey questionnaire was developed. Twenty patients in medical and surgical intensive care units answered the questions. Results: Through open-ended question interviews and survey, the patients using NIV reported feeling heavy, impotent feeling, pain, loss in feeling, loss in communication, and lack of sleep as physical distress and a loss in sense of time, pain, anxiety, mind of desiring to die, worry about family, and a sense of burden for medical-cure expenses as psychosocial distress. Conclusion: Critically ill patients undergoing NIV experience physical and psychosocial distress to artificial respiratory ventilation treatment. Further research should be performed with a large sample for generalization of the study result.
In this research a 2-dimensional motion generator composed of two linear motors was developed. The inertia, damping and/or stiffness characteristics of the motion generator can be changed on the real-time basis by properly regulating the force generated by the linear motors. That is, active impedance is implemented without actual change in the physical structure of the motion generator. Control of the motor force is carried out by controlling the input currents supplied to the linear motors based on the combination of the PI controller and feedforward controller. This motion generator can be used to measure a kinesthetic sense associated with the human arm and thus to develop the products for which the kinesthetic sense is taken into account.
The coronavirus pandemic of 2019-20 confronted fiscally dominant regimes around the world with the question of whether the large deficits caused by the health crisis should be monetized or financed by issuing debt. The unpleasant monetarist arithmetic of Sargent and Wallace (1981) states that in a fiscally dominant regime tighter money now can cause higher inflation in the future. In spite of the qualifier 'unpleasant,' this result is positive in nature, and, therefore, void of normative content. I analyze conditions under which it is optimal in a welfare sense for the central bank to delay inflation by issuing debt to finance part of the fiscal deficit. The analysis is conducted in the context of a model in which the aforementioned monetarist arithmetic holds, in the sense that if the government finds it optimal to delay inflation, it does so knowing that it would result in higher inflation in the future. The central result of the paper is that delaying inflation is optimal when the fiscal deficit is expected to decline over time.
This paper is the environmental impact assessment of at road design in the light of the sense for the real from the virtual reality. For in this papers, This study developed 3D-model and virtual reality contents by suggesting the environmental impact assessment based on GIS in the road design. And, through this process, it's possible to visualize the environmental impact assessment by constructing the 3D-model and simulation. The 3D-model can be a method to show the road effectively by maximizing the road's shape visually after the construction. The main construction which composes polyhedron model that is generated from digital map and aerial photo is built by mapping the real texture, so the Sense for the Real was more heightened. Through this study, it must be made to shorten a long time exhausting period of conference and construct more real road after due scene consideration by specific and various low-cost strategy in the environmental impact assessment afterwards.
Traditional Manufacturing method is push system by plan made in advance and Japanese manufacturing method represented by JUST-IN-TIME is pull system which respond's to the demand flexibly. Both have their pros and cons. In general, it is well understood that push system is faster than pull system in the sense of manufacturing speed. However, pull system such as JIT excelles dramatically in the sense of work in process. Therefore, this paper is trying to put together to get alternative which has the advantage of both system. The objective of the paper is to enhance the effect of built-in manufacturing system without paying extra cost by way of introducing the alternative of the pull-push manufacturing strategic operational method.
Generally, noise from a indoor air conditioner has been measured by overall sound pressure level, dB. Customers evaluation, however, of the noise from an air conditioners should not be depend on the only overall level but also the sensory feeling. Moreover, in this sensory evaluation, irregular, time-varying and uneven sounds which are difficult to describe itself by overall level are more affectable. Unfortunately however the formal evaluation method for this kinds of noise is not determined yet. In this research, the evaluation method for tonal noise, which is one of the unmeasurable sounds by overall level, is proposed to evaluate its acceptability based on the consumer's sense of hearing. To consider the consumer's sense, several times of Jury evaluation are carried out. The proposed approach could be applied to the other sound, which acoustical characteristics are similar to the tonal noise .
With the increased use of computational technology, many educators question about spending large amount of class time for dealing with computational algorithms in elementary school math classroom at the expense of more holistic aspects of mathematics such as number sense, spatial sense, problem solving and data management. This paper introduce the new method for learning addition and subtraction so called ‘Mrs. Weill’s Hill’, which is believed as a suitable remedial method for children with mathematical learning disabilities, with perceptual problems, or with limited working memory capacities. This method provides children with external memory strategies by allowing them to solve the addition and subtraction problems in a stage by stage fashion with as many steps as they require. It also gives the child greater flexibility in the solution process and thus helps reduce anxiety.
Recently, the chaotic method is employed to forecast a near future of uncertain phenomena. This method makes it possible by restructuring an attractor of given time-series data in multi-dimensional space through Takens' embedding theory. However, many economical time-series data are not sufficiently chaotic. In other words, it is hard to forecast the future trend of such economical data on the basis of chaotic theory. In this paper, time-series data are divided into wave components using wavelet transform. It is shown that some divided components of time-series data show much more chaotic in the sense of correlation dimension than the original time-series data. The highly chaotic nature of the divided component enables us to precisely forecast the value or the movement of the time-series data in near future. The up and down movement of TOPICS value is shown so highly predicted by this method as 70%.
In this paper, a modified RBF(Radial Basis Function) network structure is suggested for the prediction of a time-series with non-linear, non-stationary characteristics. Coventional RBF network predicting time series by using past outputs sense the trajectory of the time series and react when there exists strong relation between input and hidden activation function's RBF center. But this response is highly sensitive to level and trend of time serieses. In order to overcome such dependencies, hidden activation functions are modified to react to the increments of input variable and multiplied by increment(or dectement) for prediction. When the suggested structure is applied to prediction of Macyey-Glass chaotic time series, Lorenz equation, and Rossler equation, improved performances are obtained.
