  • Realistic Modeling is to maximize the reality of the environment in which perception is made by virtual environment or remote control using two or more senses of human. Especially, the field of haptic rendering, which provides reality through interaction of visual and tactual sense in realistic model, has brought attention. Haptic rendering calculates the force caused by model deformation during interaction with a virtual model and returns it to the user. Deformable model in the haptic rendering has more complexity than a rigid body because the deformation is calculated inside as well as the outside the model. For this model, Gibson suggested the 3D ChainMail algorithm using volumetric data. However, in case of the deformable model with non-homogeneous materials, there were some discordances between visual and tactual sense information when calculating the force-feedback in real time. Therefore, we propose an algorithm for the Volume Haptic Rendering of non-homogeneous deformable object that reflects the force-feedback consistently in real time, depending on visual information (the amount of deformation), without any post-processing.

  • The statistical method of human sensibility ergonomics is widely used for analyzing interior design because it has standard processes and it can help to get quantifiable results. However applying this method demands repeated intense work and great time and effort is required. In this study, a tool applying Web and virtual reality techniques for statistical human sensibility ergonomic interior design analysis is proposed and the key parts of the tool including database and interface are implemented. The database contains the sensibility adjective table and the physical interior design factor table for analyzing the relationship between human sense and physical design factors. Interface of the tool is implemented using Web technologies, so testers can evaluate interior design samples via standard Web browsers. The 3D control which is an important component of the interface is also implemented. Employing the suggested tool can reduce effort and time for evaluating human sense in Interior design field.

  • This paper deals with the solutions of linear inhomogeneous time-fractional partial differential equations in applied mathematics and fluid mechanics. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. The fractional Green function method is used to obtain solutions for time-fractional wave equation, linearized time-fractional Burgers equation, and linear time-fractional KdV equation. The new approach introduces a promising tool for solving fractional partial differential equations.

  • The growing availability of broadband multimedia applications are providing strict real-time services and enabling users to feel much interactivity as well as 'sense of presence'. In that sense, there would be increased demand for what network and system have to do to fulfill the user expectations. In this paper, we implement a real-time multimedia application which make use of real-time DXT CODEC and investigate what the challenges of networking and system are. We carry out various experiments over a research network test-bed to evaluate the performance of our proposals.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to identify time management among college students and provide them with a basic resource for planning and educating them on efficient time management methods for improving the quality of life of all clients who receive occupational therapy services, including non-disabled people. Methods : This study is a survey of four-year university students using the questionnaire to know the relationship between structured time usage and quality of life. A total of 142 questions, excluding eight missing questionnaires, was compared and analyzed with using the general characteristics, time structure questionnaires (time structure questionnaires) and World Health Organization (WHOQOL-BREF). Results : The results of this study showed that there was a significant correlation between quality of life and structured time management, and between the sub-items of structured time management; sense of purpose, structured daily life, persistence, past direction and sleep intensity. Also, factors that affect the quality of life were sleep (β=.214), structured daily life (β=.203), a sense of purpose(β=.343), and past direction(β=.244) appeared in order. Conclusion : In the case of university student who is working within structured time, there were difficulties in showing satisfactory quality of life. These factors of poor quality of life were analyzed to affect structured daily life, sense of purpose, past direction, and sleep level.

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify frequency, intensity of urinary dysfunction and daily life distress in women after a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer. Methods: One hundred and fifty seven women who had undergone a radical hysterectomy and one hundred and sixty five women as healthy controls completed questionnaires on intensity of urinary dysfunction and daily life distress caused by urinary dysfunction. Results: Women with cervical cancer showed higher frequency of urinary dysfunction than healthy controls. Major urinary dysfunction for women with cervical cancer in order of frequency were night-time incontinence (odds ratio=10.39, p<.001), difficulty in starting urination, weak urine stream and sense of incomplete emptying of bladder. The highest score on intensity was difficulty in starting urination, followed by urgency, weak urine stream, daytime frequency and sense of incomplete emptying. Night-time incontinence was the urinary symptom causing the most daily life distress for cervical cancer women followed by difficulty in starting urination, urgency, sense of incomplete emptying, and night-time frequency. Conclusion: Results suggest that nurses should address the potential postoperative urinary complications and develop long term interventions to decrease urinary dysfunction and daily life distress for women who have had a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer.

  • This paper investigates a priority scheme for IEEE 802.11 Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol in order to provide short access times for priority frames (e.g. time-deadline traffic) even when the overall traffic on the wireless channel is heavy. Under the compatibility constraint for the IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs, two priority systems are simulated: no priority (current IEEE 802.11 standard) for time-deadline traffics and dynamic time-deadline priority. We evaluate algorithms to improve the time-deadline traffic performance using discrete event simulation (DES)

  • Blow-up phenomena for a nonlocal reaction-diffusion system with time-dependent coefficients are investigated under null Dirichlet boundary conditions. Using Kaplan's method with the comparison principle, we establish new blow-up criteria and obtain the upper bounds for the blow-up time of the solution under suitable measure sense in the whole-dimensional space.

  • In this paper, a new rehabilitation training system was developed to improve equilibrium sense of the elderly by combining virtual reality technology with a fixed exercise bicycle. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the training system, the elderly participated as test subject in the investigation of the influence of different the parameters on postural balance control. We measured three different running modes of virtual bicycle system with two successive sets. The parameters measured were running time, velocity, the weight movement, the degree of the deviation from the road, and the variables about the center of pressure. The repeated training, our results showed that the running capability of the elderly improve compared. In addition, it was found out that the ability of postural control and the equilibrium sense was improved with the presentation of the visual feedback information of the distribution of weight. From the results of this experiment, we showed that our newly developed system might be useful in the diagnosis of equilibrium sense or in the improvement of the sense of sight and, somatic, and vestibular sense of the elderly in the field of rehabilitation training.
