The Effects of Corporate Social Responsibility on Job Performance: Moderating Effects of Authentic Leadership and Meaningfulness of Work

  • The study aims to investigate methods for companies to contribute to not only social and national developments, but also on the promotion of individuals and companies by re-examining the various phenomena that define companies. The study examines the relationship between subordinate factors of social responsibility activities and job performances as well as the role of CEOs in showing authentic leadership and meaningfulness of work. A total of 312 valid questionnaires were obtained, and hypotheses were tested using regression analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and 3-way interactions. The results suggest that corporate social responsibility activities not only enhanced the performance of the members, but also confirmed the importance of the authentic leadership of the CEO. Additionally, the role of the members in the company also showed to play a very significant role in a company's developments. The results also show that the CEO and members need to make efforts to increase ethics as well as gain more competitiveness and improve their reputation by promoting their sense of calling and feeling of compassion in the workplace. In other words, the members of the high-ranking book and the members of the relatively low position will have different degrees of information transfer and evaluation of the company policy may be different.

치과기공사의 전문성 인식이 자기개발 및 전문성 향상 활동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of dental technicians' perception of professionalism on self-development and professionalism improvement activities)

  • Purpose: In this study, an attempt was made to identify the extent of dental technicians' perception of professionalism and examine to what extent the perception of professionalism impacts self-development and professionalism improvement activities. Methods: An online survey was conducted for 391 dental technicians for 20 days (i.e., from October 20 to November 10, 2020). Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to examine the correlation between the independent variable and the dependent variable, and multiple regression analysis was performed to analyze the degree of influence of independent variables on self-development and professionalism improvement activities. Results: As a result of examining the impact of dental technicians' perception of professionalism on self-development and professionalism improvement activities, it was revealed that all four subareas of the perception of professionalism, i.e., professional qualification, professional autonomy, social perception, and the sense of calling, were positively impacted. Conclusion: (1) It is necessary to compare and analyze the differences in the perception of professionalism among various dental technologist groups, prepare programs to improve them, and endeavor to ensure the growth of organizational operating system. (2) Self-development and professionalism improvement activities need to be supported so that dental technologists can immerse themselves in their duties with affections for the organization and contemplate and provide educational programs to workers.

정치광고에서의 니치 마케팅 전략 활용에 관한 연구-15대 총선을 중심으로- (A Study on the Niche Marketing Strategy in Political Advertisements-focusing on the 1996 Parliamentary Election-)

  • For succesful political advertisements the role of mutual communications between advertisers and their targets (i.e. voters) should be magnified, which must be based on the understanding of voter's life-style including the trends of daily life, their philosophy and attitude toward the contemporary matters. During the campaign period for the last parliamentry election the most important issue was nothing but who could be the best representer of their region without any political considerations compared to previous election and the decision made by voters has been evaluated as one of most brilliant ones so far. One thing to note from the last election is that many new faces have been high lighted and that could not have been possible if they could not differentiate their campaign from one of unchanged senior politicians by calling more attentions of voters to them by scrutinizing competitors' election pledges. The differentiation strategy in election campaigns is basically detecting small signs of changes in voters life\ulcornerstyle, bringing them into relief and provoking voters attentions to the election and advertiser. In this sense niche marketing strategy is the differentiating strategy itself and it can be a useful guide in political advertisement for the triumph of advertiser in elections as well as for heathy and fresh political environments on the basis increased attentions of voters. In this paper, aiming at further development of the niche marketing in political advertisements we propose questions whether the niche marketing in the last parliamentary election was introduced on the basis of concept of differentation by analysing last election's strategies targeted at voters specific dispositions.

병원간호사의 행복지수 영향요인 (Factors Influencing Happiness Index of Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data on the nursing Happiness Index and identify factors influencing nurses by describing their perception of lifestyle, health behavior, nursing professionalism, Happiness Index, and turnover intention. Methods: On July 2012, 700 nurses from 10 general hospitals were surveyed, but 23 were omitted due to missing or incomplete data. The focus of this study was the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Happiness Index, consisting of 11 OECD identified topics concerning living conditions and quality of life. Data were analyzed using $x^2$-tests, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS/WINdow 14.0. Results: Mean score for nurses' Happiness Index was 3.03 on a scale of 5. There were significant differences on the Happiness Index for the following: age, marriage, children, education, position, work experience, wages, number of beds, medical institution, health behavior, weight, and meal patterns. There was a positive correlation between the happiness index and nursing professionalism but a negative correlation between the happiness index and turnover intention. Conclusion: Results indicate that factors influencing happiness are autonomy, sense of calling and turnover intention suggesting the need to improve nursing professionalism for a life of happiness among hospital nurses.

코로나19 대유행 시 일 노인요양시설에 종사하는 요양보호사의 직무경험에 대한 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on the Experiences of Long Term Care Facility Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of those who take care of the elderly at a long-term care facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Colaizzi's phenomenological research method was applied to describe the meaning and nature of the experiences of eight workers in an elderly care facility during the COVID-19 crisis. Results: Studies have shown that these workers experienced 'fear from infectious disease' and had the opportunity to 'reflect upon life changed by infectious disease.' They also worked together to overcome the crisis by 'protect nursing home with the nurses at COVID-19 sites' and felt 'safety from the nursing home,' and experienced 'a strong sense of calling for the job' through the crisis. Conclusion: This study is the first of its kind conducted in Korea on workers in an elderly care facility. The results indicate that it is necessary to supports these workers with practical useful education, counseling, and emotional support during the epidemic.

졸업학년 간호대학생의 직업가치관과 진로적응력이 취업준비행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Work Values and Career Adaptability on Job Preparation Behavior in Graduation Year Nursing Students )

  • This study is a descriptive survey research conducted to confirm the effects of work values and career adaptability on job preparation behavior in Graduation year nursing students. The subjects are 4th grade students who are attending two university nursing departments in city G and N, and data were collected from September to October 2023. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis and controlled regression analysis. The research results are as follows. Intrinsic values (β=-.127, p=.122) had not statistically a significant effect on job preparation behavior. Extrinsic values (β=.168, p<.001) and career adaptability (β=.415, p<.001) had statistically a significant positive effect on job preparation behavior. The variables predicting the job preparation behavior of nursing students were identified in the order of career adaptability and extrinsic values. The study model accounted for 35.5% of job preparation behavior. It suggests that strategies are needed to enhance the extrinsic values and career adaptability in order to promote job preparation behavior in nursing students. However, considering the nature of nursing and the sense of calling of nurses who perform nursing, we should not overlook the fact that the intrinsic values of nursing itself is also an important aspect that nursing students preparing to become future nurses must cultivate.

소방공무원의 직무수행 스트레스 치유에 관한 경험 연구 (A Study on the Experiences Regarding the Healing of Job Performance Stress of Fire Fighting Officers)

  • 본 연구는 소방공무원이 직무수행과정에서 발생되는 스트레스에 대한 치유경험에 대해 살펴보고자 함에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 7명의 현직 소방공무원을 연구대상으로 하여 개별적 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 이들의 경험을 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법을 바탕으로 분석한 결과 17개의 주제묶음과 5개의 하위범주와 3개의 범주화가 도출되었다. 연구결과는 첫째, 다양한 민원해결 과정에서 직무수행에 따른 스트레스가 강박적 불안, 우울감, 수면장애 등을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직무수행에 대해 강한 자부심과 소명감을 보이지만 퇴직 이후 삶에 대해 두려움이 높은 것으로 나타났다 셋째, 이러한 스트레스는 직업적 소명의식과 동료애, 가족의 지지 등의 긍정적 경험으로 상쇄되고 치유되는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 높은 직무 스트레스는 지속적이고 복합적인 신체적 문제와 정서적 심리적 문제들로 발전되어 직업적 소명이나 동료애, 가족 지지 만으로는 치유에 한계가 있음을 나타낸다. 이에 본 연구는 소방공무원의 직무수행에서 발생되는 스트레스 치유를 위해 직무 환경개선 뿐만이 아니라 심리 정서 지원과 직업소명의식과 동료애 강화, 가족의 정서적 지원을 위해 복합적이고 체계화된 지원프로그램 운영이 병행되어야 한다는 시사점을 도출하였다.

Thinking Modernity Historically: Is "Alternative Modernity" the Answer?

  • This essay offers a historically based critique of the idea of "alternative modernities" that has acquired popularity in scholarly discussions over the last two decades. While significant in challenging Euro/American-centered conceptualizations of modernity, the idea of "alternative modernities" (or its twin, "multiple modernities") is open to criticism in the sense in which it has acquired currency in academic and political circles. The historical experience of Asian societies suggests that the search for "alternatives" long has been a feature of responses to the challenges of Euromodernity. But whereas "alternative" was conceived earlier in systemic terms, in its most recent version since the 1980s cultural difference has become its most important marker. Adding the adjective "alternative" to modernity has important counter-hegemonic cultural implications, calling for a new understanding of modernity. It also obscures in its fetishization of difference the entrapment of most of the "alternatives" claimed--products of the reconfigurations of global power--within the hegemonic spatial, temporal and developmentalist limits of the modernity they aspire to transcend. Culturally conceived notions of alternatives ignore the common structural context of a globalized capitalism which generates but also sets limits to difference. The seeming obsession with cultural difference, a defining feature of contemporary global modernity, distracts attention from urgent structural questions of social inequality and political injustice that have been globalized with the globalization of the regime of neoliberal capitalism. Interestingly, "the cultural turn" in the problematic of modernity since the 1980s has accompanied this turn in the global political economy during the same period. To be convincing in their claims to "alterity", arguments for "alternative modernities" need to re-articulate issues of cultural difference to their structural context of global capitalism. The goal of the discussion is to work out the implications of these political issues for "revisioning" the history and historiography of modernity.

On Problematizing IS Research: A Critical Reading of the KMIS SOLOMO Research Agenda

  • In this essay, we problematize the problematics of the KMIS SOLOMO research agenda. We propose that the SOLOMO agenda is a conditioned product of the various assumptions, biases, premises, and presuppositions that the field of IS collectively succumbs to and shares, and thus needs to be problematized to arrive at a new set of research questions for the field. The problematization begins with the ontology that underlies the agenda. We argue that the agenda is largely drawn from a dichotomic, deep ontology of Human vs. Technology. While such ontology is neither right nor wrong in its own right, we suggest it is what underlies and influences the field's whole mode of inquiry including its research agenda. We propose an alternative ontology, the Actor-Network Theory (ANT), which as a flat ontology provides a radically different set of research questions for the field. Next we take issue with the teleology of the SOLOMO agenda, and suggest that the telos of the agenda, and of the field of IS and the whole of Management discipline together, are anchored upon the capitalist episteme so that it creates a significant hole in its teleological scape. While not in any sense calling for an ideological demagogue, we propose that the field of IS should open itself to an alternative teleology including a leftist perspective. We draw upon the Critical Management Studies (CMS) to explore how further problematization can be made on the SOLOMO agenda, generating questions about its performativity, denaturalization, and reflexivity. As a result of the discussions, a list of new problematized research questions for the SOLOMO agenda is generated. In the end we state the motivation of the essay and call for a critical refurbishing of the field of IS.

포스트 코로나 시대 간호대학생의 수업 경험 (Class Experience of Nursing Students in the Post COVID-19 Age)

  • 본 연구는 포스트 코로나 시대 간호대학생의 수업 경험에 대한 의미와 본질을 이해하기 위해 시도되었다. 연구 참여자는 코로나 펜데믹 이후 4학기 동안 대면 수업과 비대면 수업을 모두 경험한 1-4학년 재학생 10명이었으며, 자료수집 기간은 2021년 12월 9일부터 12월 30일까지였다. 수집된 자료는 Colaizzi의 방법을 적용하여 분석하였으며, 연구결과 6개의 범주, 13개의 주제모음, 25개의 주제가 도출되었다. 6개의 범주는 '미래에 대한 막연함', '간호 실무에 대한 자신감 결여', '수업 시스템의 안정화', '상황에 대한 수용과 적응', '예비간호사로서 직업적 소명의식을 가짐', '비대면 수업의 개선 방향을 찾음'이었다. COVID-19 발발 이후 만 2년이 지난 현시점에서 간호대학생의 수업 경험에 대한 이해는 향후 교육 방향에 대한 전략을 모색하고 미래 교육의 질을 제고하는데 있어 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
