A portable torque and power measurement system for small farm equipment based on instrumented pulley was developed. The prototype pulley was machined from mild steel, with spokes serving as strain beams. Strain gages mounted to the spokes sense the bending strain due to the torque and convert this into millivolt output. Calibration results showed the torque-millivolt relationship was linear, while hysterisis and error were less than 1% fs. For power measurements, an additional tachmeter with dcvoltage output is necessary. With the tachometer , error in power measurement was +-1.03W or 0.2% fs. Field tests showed that for ease of installation, no machine alteration needed and safety, this system had advantage over other methods for small farm equipment.

A direct draft measurement system was developed based on the swingle tree- the rear component of the single-animal harnessing (or yoking) system . The prototype was made from a tube, on which four strain gages were attached. The pull of the draft animal through the flexible pull chains or ropes causes the beam to bend, The bending strain is sensed by the strain gages and the bridge converts this to a voltage signal. Counterweights keep the tube correctly oriented if the angle of pull changes , while end bearing follow the variations in the angle of pull. Hence, the voltage output is proportional to the draft. the device has highly linear response, acceptable sensitivity negligible error and hysteresis. It is suitable for electronic data acquisition, non-intrusive , easy to attach and detach and is reasonably priced.

In the present study, the design method of containment walls is proposed by utilizing an existing site. The selected remedy for the Source Area of Operable Unit 2 at Hill Air Force Base stipulated containment of the pure-phase trichloroethylene contamination. The in-place-mixed wall construction was selected because of the irregular topography, small area of the site, and the requirement to reach depths of greater than 90 feet below ground surface. Bench-scale compatibility studies were performed for the containment wall mix design on three commercial bentonite clays. The samples were subject to screening tests and long-term tests for evaluation of changed soil properties when exposed to the contaminated groundwater.

Women were used as their own controls in the comparison of presterilization and poststerilization menstrual patterns. Five parameters were studied: regularity of cycle length, duration and amount of flow and incidence of dysmenorrhea and intermenstrual bleeding. Three parameters in the electrocoagulation group (regularity of cycle length and duration and amount of flow) and one parameter in the tubal ring group (duration of flow) showed significant changes after sterilization. However, by controlling for the effect of previous contraceptive methods used, no significant menstrual pattern changes following sterilization were discerned in either technique group.

A dynamic interaction analysis of an adjacent surface fecundation on a layered half-space is performed in the frequency domain. A semi-analytical approach is employed to reduce the integration range of the wavenumber in the surface fundamental solution for a layered half-space in boundary element (BE) formulations. The present study then adopts a combined boundary and finite element method to analyze the dynamic behavior of a system of flexible surface foundations on an elastic homogeneous and layered half-space. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the developed method. The examples show the feasibility of an extended application fur the complicated dynamic interaction of foundations on layered media.
This study introduces trends on silver care implemented with the fourth industrial revolution technology, and discusses the use of digital technology for elderly health and rehabilitation by reviewing relevant literature to examine and present directions for future digital-based silver care commercialization. First, health smart home, which is a smart residential service available through digital technology or IT technology that supports independent living in your home, is available. Second, there are technical services using artificial intelligence(AI) and robots. Robots based on advanced intelligence can serve as an assistant for the health and rehabilitation of senior citizens by supporting services that enable the daily lives of senior, checking their health conditions, and high-quality medical care. For the commercialization of these silver care systems, information and services appropriate to the current situation, such as the physical ability and health status of the elderly, should be provided, and it would be desirable to gradually expand the use of essential technology to reflect the needs of the elderly in use so that the digital alienated.
The shear behavior of any interface is a function of the fundamental properties of both materials at the interface. This study aimed at investigating the effect of planar surface roughness on the stress-horizontal displacement curve at theinterfaces composed of various geomembrane textures and granular materials. In addition, the extent of surfacialscarring on smooth geomembranes against granular materials during shearing induced by plowing effect was studied. It wasobserved that the displacements required to achieve peak and residual interface resistance, and the stress-displacementcurve at the interface vary greatly with the surface roughness of geomembrane. Quantification of surface roughnessvariations on smooth geomembrane due to plowing effect showed that the surfacial scarring during shearing by the soilparticles is directly related to both the normal stress and the angularity of the soil particles at the interface. The findingsof this study can be used to provide the useful information for the design and selection of counterface materials.
Systems and processes to provide clinical education to students of nursing have been established between universities and health facilities in all countries where nurse education is tertiary based. However, systems and processes to link nurse researchers based in universities to their clinical colleagues are less well developed. When collaborations are established they are frequently based on personal networks, and while the rhetoric of the organizations encourages these collaborations, they are largely unrecognised by senior administrators in health facilities. The research is frequently "invisible" and the clinician researchers usually do not have access to appropriate infrastructure and other resources that are required to support large projects that have the potential to change practice across organisations. This situation influences the focus and scope of nursing research and limits opportunities for clinicians to be engaged in the generation of professional knowledge. The University of Western Sydney (UWS) has taken a strategic approach to the development of collaborations for research and has linked with health services in Western Sydney to establish and maintain research centres and adjunct appointments. The partner organisations jointly fund the infrastructure of the centres which include a Professor, research assistant position(s) and administrative staff. Five Professors of Nursing have been appointed to positions in one of three nursing research centres. This paper describes the approach established by the School of Nursing at UWS to build collaborations with clinical areas to promote research. This approach could be adopted or adapted by other facilities.

The reflection coefficients of monochromatic waves propagating over a shelf with varying dimensions are theoretically calculated. The diffraction of waves by an abrupt depth change is formulated by the eigenfunction expansion method. Not only propagating mode but also evanescent modes are considered in formulation. The role of evanescent modes in reflection coefficients is investigated in detail. Water waves are obliquely as well as normally incident to the region. The obtained reflection coefficients are verified by checking conservation of wave energy.
The purpose of this study was to analyze pre-service teachers' perceptions and change on the images about young children. The subjects of this study were 31 students in the early childhood department at a university. It was a longitudinal study conducted for four years. The data regarding the images that students had about young children were collected by having them answer a question. The question was "Young children are... Because of..." Subjects were asked to answer that question when they were freshmen and then, to answer the same question when they were seniors in order to see the change. A content analysis and frequency were conducted. The study of the results could be summarized as follows. Firstly, from their first year to senior year, the images that pre-service teachers perceived such as, vibrant active beings and beings with various characteristics" did not change. However, the images such as "being who was capable of interacting with environments" had changed. And the new image which viewed a child as a being who should be respected emerged. Secondly, the factors that influenced the image changes were based on the experience of working as assistant teachers at an early childhood setting, and practicum. Therefore, a systematic work on assistant teachers should be done and a concept about child-center education should be built.
