  • This paper aims to offer a solution based on semantic document classification to improve e-Government utilization and efficiency for people using their own information retrieval system and linguistic expression. Generally, semantic document classification method is an approach that classifies documents based on the diverse relationships between keywords in a document without fully describing hierarchial concepts between keywords. Our approach considers the deep meanings within the context of the document and radically enhances the information retrieval performance. Concept Weight Document Classification(CoWDC) method, which goes beyond using existing keyword and simple thesaurus/ontology methods by fully considering the concept hierarchy of various concepts is proposed, experimented, and evaluated. With the recognition that in order to verify the superiority of the semantic retrieval technology through test results of the CoWDC and efficiently integrate it into the e-Government, creation of a thesaurus, management of the operating system, expansion of the knowledge base and improvements in search service and accuracy at the national level were needed.

  • The aim of this study is to apply latent semantic indexing(LSI) techniques for efficient automatic classification of opinionated documents. For the experiments, we collected 1,000 opinionated documents such as reviews and news, with 500 among them labelled as positive documents and the remaining 500 as negative. In this study, sets of content words and sentiment words were extracted using a POS tagger in order to identify the optimal feature set in opinion classification. Findings addressed that it was more effective to employ LSI techniques than using a term indexing method in sentiment classification. The best performance was achieved by a supervised LSI technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a automation of the classification process for reusable software component and construction method of structured software components library. In order to efficient and automatic classification of software component, we decide the facets to represent characteristics of software component by acquiring semantic and syntactic information from software components descriptions in natural language, and compose the software component identifier or automatic extract terms corresponds to each facets. And then, in order to construct the structured software components library, we sore in the near location with software components of similar characteristic according to semantic similarity of the classified software components. As the result of applying proposed method, we can easily identify similar software components, the classification process of software components become simple, and the software components store in the structured software components library.

  • Due to the semantic gap problem across different modalities, automatically retrieval from multimedia information still faces a main challenge. It is desirable to provide an effective joint model to bridge the gap and organize the relationships between them. In this work, we develop a deep image annotation and classification by fusing multi-modal semantic topics (DAC_mmst) model, which has the capacity for finding visual and non-visual topics by jointly modeling the image and loosely related text for deep image annotation while simultaneously learning and predicting the class label. More specifically, DAC_mmst depends on a non-parametric Bayesian model for estimating the best number of visual topics that can perfectly explain the image. To evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm, we collect a real-world dataset to conduct various experiments. The experimental results show our proposed DAC_mmst performs favorably in perplexity, image annotation and classification accuracy, comparing to several state-of-the-art methods.

  • The use of drones is gradually increasing for the efficient maintenance of large-scale renewable energy power generation complexes. For a long time, photovoltaic panels have been photographed with drones to manage panel loss and contamination. Various approaches using artificial intelligence are being tried for efficient maintenance of large-scale photovoltaic complexes. Recently, semantic segmentation-based application techniques have been developed to solve the image classification problem. In this paper, we propose a classification model using semantic segmentation to determine the presence or absence of failures such as arcs, disconnections, and cracks in solar panel images obtained using a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera. In addition, an efficient classification model was implemented by tuning several factors such as data size and type and loss function customization in U-Net, which shows robust classification performance even with a small dataset.

  • Intelligent Content is defined as detailed information or fragment of content which contains a semantic data structure. This semantic structure makes possible to do various intelligent operations. There are wide range of content-oriented applications such as classification, retrieval, extraction, translation, presentation and question-answering. The concept of Intelligent Content is applied to various fields like MPEG and Semantic Web. In this paper, we discuss the several important researches of Intelligent Content and how to apply this conception to these fields.

  • The increasing interest in big data analysis using various data mining techniques indicates that many commercial data mining tools now need to be equipped with fundamental text analysis modules. The most essential prerequisite for accurate analysis of text documents is an understanding of the exact semantics of each term in a document. The main difficulties in understanding the exact semantics of terms are mainly attributable to homonym and synonym problems, which is a traditional problem in the natural language processing field. Some major text mining tools provide a thesaurus to solve these problems, but a thesaurus cannot be used to resolve complex synonym problems. Furthermore, the use of a thesaurus is irrelevant to the issue of homonym problems and hence cannot solve them. In this paper, we propose a semantic text mining methodology that uses ontologies to improve the quality of text mining results by resolving the semantic ambiguity caused by homonym and synonym problems. We evaluate the practical applicability of the proposed methodology by performing a classification analysis to predict customer churn using real transactional data and Q&A articles from the "S" online shopping mall in Korea. The experiments revealed that the prediction model produced by our proposed semantic text mining method outperformed the model produced by traditional text mining in terms of prediction accuracy such as the response, captured response, and lift.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the argument alternations in terms of semantic perspective. Argument alternation has long been an interesting topic for the linguists regardless of their linguistic schools. Semantic analysis of argument alternation is attempted by Dowty(2001) based on the Levin(1993)'s classification. The study is focused on the phenomenon where meaning changes with argument alternations even though those sentences look the same syntactically and lineally. 1 tried not only to classify verbs according to the meaning changes but to explain the alternations in semantic point of view. The verbs are divided into 4 types- Touch type, Hit type, Cut type, and Break type. Each type of verbs are tested if they show special characteristics with three alternations-Middle alternation, Body-part possessor Ascension, and Conative Alternation. And semantic analysis is tried based on that classification.

  • This paper aims to offer a solution based on intelligent document classification to create a user-centric information retrieval system allowing user-centric linguistic expression. So, structures expressing user intention and fine document classifying process using EBL, similarity, knowledge base, user intention, are proposed. To overcome the problem requiring huge and exact semantic information, a hybrid process is designed integrating keyword, thesaurus, probability and user intention information. User intention tree hierarchy is build and a method of extracting group intention between key words and user intentions is proposed. These structures and processes are implemented in HDCI(Hybrid Document Classification with Intention) system. HDCI consists of analyzing user intention and classifying web documents stages. Classifying stage is composed of knowledge base process, similarity process and hybrid coordinating process. With the help of user intention related structures and hybrid coordinating process, HDCI can efficiently categorize web documents in according to user's complex linguistic expression with small priori information.

  • In this paper, we present a two-phase shallow semantic parsing method based on a maximum entropy model. The first phase is to recognize semantic arguments, i.e., argument identification. The second phase is to assign appropriate semantic roles to the recognized arguments, i.e., argument classification. Here, the performance of the first phase is crucial for the success of the entire system, because the second phase is performed on the regions recognized at the identification stage. In order to improve performances of the argument identification, we incorporate syntactic knowledge into its pre-processing step. More precisely, boundaries of the immediate clause and the upper clauses of a predicate obtained from clause identification are utilized for reducing the search space. Further, the distance on parse trees from the parent node of a predicate to the parent node of a parse constituent is exploited. Experimental results show that incorporation of syntactic knowledge and the separation of argument identification from the entire procedure enhance performances of the shallow semantic parsing system.
