  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of interaction based on contingent regulation between teacher and underachiever in elementary mathematics. For this purpose, research questions are established as follows; (1) Is there any difference between contingent regulation and natural regulation in mathematics achievement\ulcorner (2) Is there any difference between contingent regulation and natural regulation in affectionate perspective\ulcorner (3) Is there any difference between contingent regulation and natural regulation in adult regulation\ulcorner Two classes of fifth grade Children(10 children) were sampled from an elementary school in city of Daegu. One of them was assigned to the contingent regulation group and the other to natural regulation group. An experiment was conducted for 7 weeks. Two kinds of test instruments were used : pre-test and post-test. The pre-test scores guaranteed that both groups were homogeneous. Post-test was used to identify two effects(research questions (1) & (2)) and the post-test scores were analyzed by t-test. The results were as follows. (1) There was significant difference between contingent regulation and natural regulation in mathematics achievement. This means that experiment group was higher than control group and the interaction effect of contingent regulation was higher in post-test. The self-control indicated in experiment group. (2) There was slightly significant difference between contingent regulation and natural regulation in affectionate perspective. This means that experiment group turned to slightly positioner in post-test. (3) There was significant difference between contingent regulation and natural regulation in adult regulation. In other words, level of contingent regulation changed depending on underachievers' ability but level of natural regulation didn't change. Therefore, I suggest that contingent regulation based on Vygotsky theory would provide effective mathematics education for underachievers in elementary mathematics.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate which psychological factors influence on the gifted students' achievement. As a psychological factor, self-determination, learning goal-orientation, self-efficacy, belief of intelligence, and self-regulated learning strategy were examined. The difference in psychological factors between the gifted with high achievement and the gifted with low achievement was to explored. For the study 128 gifted students' data from second-year data of Korean Education Longitudinal Study (KELS) were selected and analyzed. The findings indicate that the predictors of gifted students' achievement are extrinsic regulation, identified regulation, mastery-approach goal, self-efficacy, elaboration, and meta-cognition factor. Especially, the factor of elaboration and identified regulation are the strongest predictors. The findings from t-test analysis indicate that the gifted with low achievement show the low level in self-determination, mastery-approach, self-efficacy, elaboration, meta-cognition, place management and seeking social assistance from teacher. Therefore the developing elaboration, one of regulation learning strategy, is essential to improve the achievement of the gifted students with low scores.

  • This paper describes the performance analysis and design of single-phase self-excited induction generators. In this study, it is proposed to design the proper capacitance for self-excitation and voltage regulation, also. This methods are based on the induced MMF equations between main and the auxiliary winding. For the least influence between the two capacitors, the self-excited capacitor is selected under no load condition, while the series capacitor is designed under loaded condition. For the steady state analysis, the equivalent circuit of single-phase induction generators is used as circuit modeling using the double-revolving field theory. The validity of proposal methods and designed generator system will be confirmed by experimental and computed results.

  • Using two-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic simulations, we investigate the regulation of star ormation rates in turbulent, multiphase, galactic gaseous disks. Our simulation domain is xisymmetric, and local in the radial direction and global in the vertical direction. Our models nclude galactic rotation, vertical stratification, self-gravity, heating and cooling, and thermal onduction. Turbulence in our models is driven by momentum feedback from supernova events ccurring in localized dense regions formed by thermal and gravitational instabilities. Self-onsistent radiative heating, representing enhanced/reduced FUV photons from the star formation, s also taken into account. Evolution of our model disks is highly dynamic, but reaches a quasi-teady state. The disks are overall in effective hydrostatic equilibrium with the midplane thermal ressure set by the vertical gravity. The star formation rate is found to be proportional pproximately linearly to the midplane thermal pressure. These results are in good agreement with the predictions of a recent theory by Ostriker, McKee, and Leroy (2010) for the thermal/dynamic equilibrium model of star formation regulation.

  • This study is to develop and validate the academic motivation scale for medical students(AMSMS) based on self-determination theory. After composing preliminary questions from 74 students, a preliminary and main survey were conducted with 148 and 300 students from September to November 2020. Factor analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis were used. As a result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, construct validity was verified. The fitness index of the five-factor model of amotivation, external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, intrinsic motivation was good. The reliability of each factor was ranged from 0.760 to 0.933. The criterion validity of AMSMS was verified by showing a correlation with academic self-efficacy and school life satisfaction. This results show that the AMSMS is both valid and reliable, and it is expected to be used in research related to academic motivation of medical students in the future.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a smartphone overdependence prevention program for college students based on the self-determination theory (SDT) and evaluate its effectiveness. Methods: A non-equivalent control group repeated measures design was used for the study. Participants were 64 university freshmen (experimental group: 29, control group: 35). The developed program consists of eight sessions conducted twice a week. The program was designed to promote autonomy, competence, and relatedness the three elements of the basic psychological needs of self-determination theory. The participants were assessed before the program, immediately after, and 1 and 3 months after the program. Data were collected from April 23 to September 14, 2018 and analyzed by performing a Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results: This study showed improvement in the basic psychological needs (F=3.90, p=.010) in the experimental group compared to the control group. Specifically, competence (F=2.93, p=.035), relatedness (F=2.89, p=.045), and self-regulatory ability (F=3.11, p=.028) improved significantly. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that the smartphone overdependence prevention program based on the Self-determination theory could be an effective intervention for improving basic psychological needs and self-regulation ability. Therefore, this program could be an efficient strategy for smartphone overdependence prevention in university students.

  • During the past 100 years, Korean fisheries management policies have enforced the license system, it is the most typical regulation system in Korean fisheries. Even now, it has caused resource management failure, it has also invited economic inefficiency and inequity. Accordingly, the Korean government has recently introduced the self-regulatory management system for fishermen with the TAC system. These systems are one of the most market-oriented regulation systems in fisheries management systems. It is defined as regulatory policy tools other than regulations with command and control approach. It is also called “alternatives” which is composed of regulatory alternatives and non-regulatory alternatives. The self-regulatory management system and the ITQ system are cooperative-based co-management between government and fishermen as an alternative management strategy ; it is gaining the increasing attention to improve the effectiveness of fisheries management in Korea. It is expected not only to positively improve function in fisheries regulation, but also to decrease inefficiency in fisheries policies. However, these systems have many problems. The monopolization of rent is one of the typical examples. As solutions for the problem in the aspect of fishery management, fisheries policy is need of approach to industrial organization. For instance, Contestable market theory is one of the good theoretical background, it mean that market is able to free entry and free exit. Thus, fisheries management carry out policies such as revitalization of the used market of capital goods in fisheries, organize of the self-regulatory management group. Conclusively, as the exploiters and managers, fishers and the government should put emphasis on improving economic efficiency so that fishery would grow as an industry that contributes to the increase of social welfare, and the change to that direction will be the only way for our fisheries to preserve its importance.

  • In this talk, I will present a theoretical and numerical framework for self-regulation of the star formation rates (SFRs) in disk galaxies. The theory assumes (1) force balance between pressure support and the weight of the interstellar medum (ISM), (2) thermal balance between radiative cooling in the ISM and heating via FUV radiation from massive young stars, and (3) turbulent energy balance between dissipation in the ISM and driving by momentum injection of SNe. Numerical simulations show vigorous dynamics in the ISM at all times, but with proper temporal and spatial averages, all the expected balances hold. This leads to a scaling relation between mean SFRs and galactic gas and stellar properties, arising from the fundamental relationship between SFR surface density and the total midplane pressure.

  • This work describes a preliminary investigation to a learning model based on cybernetics and radical constructivism. To achieve this purpose, main ideas of cybernetics, i.e., negative feedback, difference, self-regulation, equilibrium, and purpose-directed behavior was analysed under radical constructivism. Powers' model, which consists of hierarchically arranged negative feedback systems, is introduced into this work. This was based on the claim that living organisms behave to control perceptions. By adding the notion of scheme from the view of radical constructivism, a learning procedure, which consists of six steps, was suggested in this work.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of self-efficacy that impacts on personal goal setting.. In addition, in the process of going to achieve the goal, this study was to evaluate the role of self-regulation resources. Specifically, this paper is divided into two groups of self-regulation resources, to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and goal-setting theory. To achieve this goal, by manipulating the self-adjusting resources to target college students divided into two groups, this measured the performance of the self-efficacy and goal setting. In the test, the a mediated effect of goal setting between self-efficacy and performance was meaningful, and evidence of enhancing the self-regulatory resource by self-efficacy was found. As a result, this paper provides guideline that manages the performance by using the self-efficacy and self-regulatory resource.
