This study attempted to investigate the mediating effects of self-efficacy in the influence of appearance management behavior and life satisfaction among middle-aged women. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed among 153 women aged 40-59 living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's test, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis, using SPSS 25.0. To examine mediating effects, SPSS Process MACRO #4 was borrowed, and the results found the following: 1) A positive correlation with statistical significance was observed among appearance management behavior, self-efficacy, and life satisfaction. 2) According to the analysis of appearance management behavior, self-efficacy and life satisfaction by demographic characteristics, some differences were found. 3) The mediating effects of self-efficacy in appearance management behavior and the life satisfaction relationship was confirmed. The above results show that middle-aged women experience an increase in self-efficacy through appearance management behavior and improvements in their life satisfaction through such self-efficacy, not just enhancing life satisfaction through appearance management behavior. In other words, appearance management increases life satisfaction through an ego-discovery process.

The purpose of this study is to find which variable has the biggest effect on the school life adjustment of elementary school students among family strength, self-esteem, and the mother's rearing attitude. Second, the study observes how the elementary school student's self-esteem has a moderating effect regarding the rearing attitudes of their mothers and their school life adjustment. Five hundred forty-five fifth and sixth graders from an elementary school in Cheonan, are the participants of this study. The key research findings of this study are as follows: First, among the rearing attitudes of the mothers, family strength, and self-esteem, the variable that showed the greatest relationship with positive school life adjustment was family strength followed by self-esteem. Second, The self-esteem of the elementary school students showed a 1% moderating significant effect between the rearing attitudes of the mothers and school life adjustment. In the high self-esteem group of elementary school students, the moderating effect of self-esteem showed a higher level of school life adjustment when the students perceived that their mother had an affectionate rearing attitude, but showed a lower level of school life adjustment if they perceived their mother's rearing attitude as rejective or overprotective. Therefore, this study suggests that a focus on increasing self-esteem and family strength along with the affectionate rearing attitude of mothers is needed for the positive adjustment of elementary school students.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-efficacy promotion programs on self-efficacy, self-care behavior, and quality of life in breast cancer patients receiving radiation therapy. Methods: This study was conducted from November 1, 2009 to December 10, 2010. A total of 39 breast cancer patients, who received radiotherapy in a University hospital located in city B, participated in the study and were divided into two groups (experimental group 17 and control group 22). The data were analyzed with the ${\chi}^2$-test and ANCOVA using the SPSS/Win 17.0 program. Results: Self-efficacy promotion programs aimed at self-management were effective in enhancing concrete self-efficacy but not effective in promoting general self-efficacy, self-care behavior, and quality of life among breast cancer patients who have received radiotherapy. Conclusion: Organizing a support group for the breast cancer patients seems to be highly necessary to help themselves obtain higher level of specific self-efficacy, self-care behavior, and quality of life in general. It will also be beneficial for the breast cancer patients to understand their unique situations and improve their health problems for themselves.
The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for nursing intervention strategies to promote quality of life in cancer patients. Therefore the study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of perceived health status, self-esteem, health locus of control, self-efficacy, perceived susceptibility /severity, health promoting behaviors, and hope for quality of life. The sample was composed of 164 stomach cancer patients who visited outpatient clinics at a university hospital in Seoul. The following instruments were used in the study after some adaptation : Lawstone and others' Health Self-rating Scale, Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale, Wallston and others 'Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale, Sherer & Maddux's Self-efficacy Scale, Moon's Health Beliefs Scale, Walker and others' Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile, Nowotney's Hope scale and Noh's Quality of Life Scale. Data were analyzed using a SAS program for Pearson correlation coefficients, descriptive correlational statistics and stepwise multiple regression. The results are as follows : 1. The scores on the quality of life scale ranged from 115 to 243 with a mean of 177.84(SD : 25.35). The mean scores(range 1-5) on the different dimensions were : emotional state 3.37 : economic life 3.47 : physical state & function 3.52 : self-esteem 3.66 : relationship with neighbors 3.37 ; family relationships 3.80. 2. There was a significant correlation between all the predictive variables and the quality of life (r=.20-.65, p<.01). 3. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that : 1) Self-esteem was the main predictor of quality of life and accounted for 46.9% of the variance in quality of life. 2) Perceived health status, hope and perceived susceptibility/severity accounted for 11.8%, 8.3%, 1.5% of the variance in quality of life, respectively. 3) Self-esteem, perceived health status, hope & perceived susceptibility /severity combined accounted for 68.5% of the variance in quality of life. In conclusion, self-esteem, perceived health status, hope and perceived susceptibility / severity were identified as important variables in the quality of life of cancer patients.

To achieve this aim, the following research questions were posed: First, What kind of influence does the self-regulatory group counseling have on the self- regulation of the higher grade students in Elementary school. Second, What kind of influence does the self-regulatory group counseling have on school life satisfaction scale of the higher grade students in Elementary school. In order to verify these research questions, the self-regulation test and school life satisfaction scale were conducted to both the experimental group and control group in pre-test, next, self-regulatory group counseling was practiced to the experimental group. And finally, a post-test was given to both the experimental group and control group. For this study, 200 students from 6th-grader of S Elementary school located in Incheon were given the self-regulation test and chosen 50 students who received low marks. Then, 50 students were researched into the school life satisfaction scale and chosen 16 students who got average-below score again. It was two matching groups through consideration of their score of the school life satisfaction scale, 8 students were arranged to the experimental group and the rest to the control group. The Self-Regulatory Group Counseling program developed by Eun Hyuck-gi(1999). The program was based on the following three programs: "The development. of the Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling therapy and their reports" by Kim HyeSuk(1996), Group counseling" by Brigman and Early(1991) and the study on the improving program in human relation" by Park KyeongAe(1998). The Self-Regulatory Group Counseling program activity was conducted during 6 weeks. Each session was 60 minutes and it continued for 8 sessions. The data collected to find out a difference in self-regulation and the degree of school life satisfaction between the experimental and control groups were processed by means of SPSSWIN program, and the post-test between both the groups were comparatively analyzed through t-test, a mean difference test. The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this study. First, the self-regulatory group counseling program has obvious effect of improving the self-regulation of the higher grade students in Elementary school. Second, the self-regulatory group counseling program has obvious effect of improving the school life satisfaction of the higher grade students in Elementary school. Particularly, this study shows statistical significance in cognitive facts of the self-regulation and the degrees of satisfaction with general school life, teacher, friend and facilities.
