Verification of research questions was carried out through structural equation model analysis. As a result of the verification, the father's affectional attitude and autonomic attitude showed a significant positive effect on the infant's self-efficacy, and the affectional attitude showed a significant positive effect on the infant's peer competence. And it was shown that the infant's self-efficacy has a significant positive effect on their peer competence. The results are as follows. First, through the science experience class, the children in LIF's average point of science inquiry skills increased meaningfully, but ordinary children's did not. Second, the science attitude's points of both increased meaningfully. Third, the children in LIF's average self-esteem point increased meaningfully, but the ordinary group's did not. Fourth, the children in LIF' self-competence increased meaningfully, but the other's did not. The children from both groups were influenced positively by the science experience class. Especially, compared with ordinary children, the children in LIF who have fewer chances of science experience than other children were more positively influenced m every aspect of this study.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of a multicultural education program on nursing students' cultural competence, empathy, and self-efficacy. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, the participants were assigned to an experimental group (n=40) or a control group (n=40). The data were analyzed using independent t-test, Chi-square or Fisher's exact test, and paired t-test with the SPSS windows 18.0 program. Results: After receiving the multicultural education program, the levels of cultural competence and self-efficacy in the experimental group were higher than in the control group. The level of empathy increased slightly in the experimental group while it decreased in the control group. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that multicultural education is effective in raising the level of cultural competence and self-efficacy in nursing students. Thus, there is a need for continuous effort to integrate multicultural education programs in the nursing curriculum. Repeated study to test effects of these multicultural education programs should be also necessary.

  • This study was conducted to examine the relationship of the COVID-19-related anxiety, self-efficacy, resilience, and professional competence of nurses working in hospitals where COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. Additionally, this study attempted to identify factors that affect the professional competence of nurses. Using a cross-sectional descriptive study design, an online survey of 120 nurses working at hospitals where COVID-19 patients were hospitalized was conducted between February 9 and February 19, 2021. Pearson's correlations were used to assess correlations between the main variables, and stepwise multiple regression was used to identify factors influencing professional competence. Results of the study showed that the professional competence of nurses was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.58, p<.001) and resilience (r=.56, p<.001). The correlation between professional competence and COVID-related anxiety was not significant (r=-.03, p=.766). Factors affecting professional competence included self-efficacy (β=.36, p=.004) and resilience (β=28, p=.021). The model explained approximately 35% of the variance in nurse professional competence (F=33.65, p<.001). To fully demonstrate the professional competence of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, institution-based programs should be developed and applied to improve their self-efficacy and resilience. In order to prevent the burnout of nurses in the longer-than-expected COVID-19 pandemic, efforts and policies at the nursing organization level are needed to systematically manage and monitor self-efficacy and resilience of nurses.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the clinical competence of nursing students. Methods : The participants of this study were 209 nursing students who were in 3rd and 4th grade. The collected data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results : Clinical competence had positive relationships with self-leadership (r=.59, p <.001) and resilience (r=.64, p <.001). Clinical competence was influenced by resilience (𝛽=.45), self-leadership (𝛽=.20), and grade (𝛽=.20), with an explanatory power of 44.9%. Conclusions : Based on these results, it is suggested that future nursing education should develop a curriculum that enhances students' personal abilities such as self-leadership and resilience, rather than only teaching knowledge and skills.

  • This study was conducted to identify the correlation between the self-efficacy, communication competence, and clinical practice satisfaction of dental hygiene students and the factors affecting clinical practice satisfaction. The data survey was conducted on 201 students of Chungcheong Province who experienced clinical practice. Data were analyzed by anova and logistic regression analysis. As a result of the study, clinical practice satisfaction was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.337), communication competence (r=.293) and self-efficacy was positively correlated with communication competence (r=.633). Factors affected to clinical practice satisfaction were self-efficacy, academic score, and major satisfaction. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop clinical practice education programs that can enhance students' self-efficacy and improve their communication competence.

The mean score for professional self-concept was $2.65{\pm}0.29$ points in the range of 1 point to 4 points. And interpersonal relations was an average of $3.55{\pm}0.35$ points in the range of 1 point to 5 points. Nursing competence was an average of $2.65{\pm}0.39$ points in the range of 1 point to 4 points. Professional self-concept and interpersonal relations were positively correlated with nursing competence. Nursing competence was differed from clinical career(F=10.518, p<.001), working unit(F=4.139, p=.018), educational background(F=6.542, p=.002), and satisfaction on nursing(F=6.326, p<.001). The regression model with clinical career, working unit, educational background, satisfaction on nursing, 3 sub domain of professional self-concept(professional practice, satisfaction, communication), and interpersonal relation was statistically significant (F=31.94, p<.001). And this model could explain 51.5% of nursing competency(Adj R2=.515). Especially, professional practice(${\beta}=.532$, p<.001) of professional self-concept, interpersonal relations(${\beta}=.223$, p<.001), clinical career(${\beta}=.169$, p<.001), working unit: ICU (${\beta}=.169$, p<.05) were identified the factors influencing on nursing competence.
