Fabrication and Physicochemical Properties of Carbon/Titania/Bentonite Monolith for Architecture

  • In this study, we used activated carbon (AC) and titanium oxysulfate as a titanium precursor to prepare carbon/titania composites. We then mixed it with bentonite in different ratios to make a carbon/titania/bentonite monolith for use in architecture bricks by using Phenolic rosin (PR) as a bonding agent. The physicochemical properties of the prepared composites were analyzed by BET surface area, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), self-cleaning effect and bactericidal tests. The BET surface areas increased as the ratio of carbon/titania composites increased. The SEM microscopy showed that the $TiO_2$ and bentonite were coated on the surface of the AC. The XRD patterns showed a mixture structure of anatase and rutile of $TiO_2$ with a clear $SiO_2$ structure. The EDX spectra of the carbon/titania/bentonite monolith confirmed the presence of various elements, namely C, O, Ti and Si, as well as other, impure elements. Moreover, to determine the self-cleaning effect of the carbon/titania/bentonite monolith, we used methylene blue (MB, $C_{16}H_{18}N_3S{\cdot}Cl{\cdot}3H_2O$) in an aqueous solution under the irradiation of visible light. Accordingly, all of the samples had excellent degradation of the MB solution. Furthermore, it was observed that the composites with sunlight irradiation had a greater effect on E. coli than any other experimental conditions.

윤활유 필터의 종류 및 특징 (Types and Characteristics of Lubricant Filters)

  • This paper presents a discussion on lubricating oil filters. The maintenance of lubricating oil filters can improve the performance of mechanical systems and extend the service life of the lubricating oil. Therefore, the effective management of the lubricating oil can extend the service life of the machine and reduce maintenance costs. A representative method for managing lubricating oil is filtering the lubricating oil using a lubricant filter. However, effectively managing a lubricating oil using a lubricant filter requires an understanding of the related knowledge. In this paper, we present the definition, classification, characteristics, specifications, performance, and self-cleaning function of lubricating oil filters. The lubricant filters are classified based on the filter material, filtering method, filtering location, and amount of filtered fluid. Cellulose and glass fiber materials are conventionally used as materials for lubricant filters, and recently, metal materials, which show excellent durability, are being increasingly adopted. The filtering methods can be classified into physical, chemical, magnetic, and electric field methods, and the lubricant filters can be classified according to their location in the lubrication system. The beta ratio and efficiency of the lubricant filter can be determined based on the performance of the filter. Finally, there are many products or technologies that add a self-cleaning function to the filter to remove foreign substances or contaminants for efficient management.

SiO2\TiO2 박막에 의한 투명 발수 반사방지 코팅 (Transparent Hydrophobic Anti-Reflection Coating with SiO2\TiO2 Thin Layers)

  • 태양전지의 셀을 보호하기 위한 커버 글라스에는 반사방지 코팅 및 셀프클리닝과 같은 기능성 코팅이 적용되어왔다. 일반적으로 메조포러스 실리카를 이용한 반사방지 코팅은 빛의 투과를 증가시키며, $TiO_2$ 광촉매 필름은 셀프클리닝 코팅에 적용되어왔다. 본 연구에서는 $SiO_2/TiO_2$ 박막 코팅에 의한 투명 발수 반사방지 및 셀프클리닝 코팅을 sol-gel 공정과 dip-coating 공정으로 글라스 기판 위에 제조하였다. 기능성 코팅의 표면형상은 전계방출 주사전자현미경과 원자힘 현미경으로 분석하였고, 광학적 특성은 UV-visible 분광광도계로 분석하였다. 필름의 발수특성은 접촉각 측정으로 확인하였다. 그 결과 $TiO_2$ 필름은 기판인 슬라이드 글라스와 비슷한 수준의 높은 광 투과율을 나타내었다. 일반적으로 $TiO_2$ 나노입자는 필름에서 반사를 증가시키며, 결과적으로 투과율의 저하를 가져온다. 하지만 본 연구의 $SiO_2/TiO_2$ 박막으로 이루어진 기능성 코팅은 $110^{\circ}$의 접촉각을 나타내었으며, 파장 550 nm에서 기판인 슬라이드 글라스의 투과율보다 2.0% 증가한 93.5%의 광 투과율 특성을 나타내었다.

메틸렌블루 용액을 이용한 광촉매 혼입 모르타르의 방오성능 평가 (Self-Cleaning of Mortar Mixed with Photocatalyst by Using Methylene Blue Solution)

  • 본 연구에서는 광촉매를 혼입한 모르타르의 방오성능을 평가하기 위해 메틸렌 블루를 이용한 실험 연구를 수행하였다. 실험 시편은 시멘트 중량대비 2.5%, 5.0%, 7.5% 및 10.0%의 광촉매를 혼입하여 모르타르 시편을 제작하였고, 시편 표면에 스크래치 형태로 조도를 설정하였다. 표면 조도는 3가지로 조도가 없는 경우, 조도가 작은 경우(중간 조도), 조도가 큰 경우(거친 조도)로 설정하였다. 모르타르 시편 제작 후 24시간 동안 자외선램프 조사와 12시간 동안 메틸렌 블루 컨디셔닝 용액에 침지 하는 전처리 과정을 진행하였다. 실험챔버에 전처리가 완료된 모르타르 시편을 배치 후 48시간 동안 자외선램프를 조사하였고 시간에 따라 메틸렌 블루 수용액의 색 변화를 분광측색계를 이용하여 측정하였다. 광촉매의 혼입량이 증가할수록 메틸렌 블루 색 변화는 증가하는 경향을 나타내며 이는 방오성능이 증가하는 것을 의미한다. 반면에 표면조도가 증가할수록 메틸렌 블루 용액의 색 변화는 뚜렷한 경향은 나타내지 않으며 표면의 광촉매 분포가 일정하지 않기 때문이다.

건물 청소노동자의 노동 경험 (Working Experiences of Cleaning Workers)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe cleaning workers' working experiences in Korea. Methods: The data were collected in two focus-group interviews with 9 cleaning workers. The phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi was used to analyze the data. Results: Five theme clusters and thirteen themes emerged from the analysis. The first theme clusters, 'Dead-end choice' included Limits of elderly women workers, Financial difficulties, Lowered self-esteem. The second theme clusters, 'Facing with discriminatory working environments' included Fear and unfair working conditions. The third theme clusters, 'Potential health problems' included Physical overload, Repeated exposure to hazardous substances and Emotional labor. The fourth theme clusters, 'Excluded from protection of the law' included Gloomy reality and Sexual harassment. The fifth theme clusters, 'Desire to get out of social isolation' included Efforts to maintain the status, Desire to live confidently and Desire to change social recognition. Conclusion: The findings of the study provide understanding on cleaning workers' working experiences to explain by their vision and language and should ensure proper working conditions and environment to live a better life.

청정에너지 회수용 유증기/매연 포집모듈에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Oil-mist/Smoke Collecting Module for the Pure Energy Recycling)

  • Traditionally, so-called "industrial waste gases", such ad exhaust from boilers at industrial installations and a large quantity of soot discharged from power station, before their release into the atmosphere, have been on occasion subjected to an air cleaning process to remove fine particles that may pollute the atmosphere (such as mist and dust containing various powdery or oily substances and moisture from industrial waste gases). The release of industrial waste gases containing these particles directly into the atmosphere poses a serious threat to the earth environment; and recovery of these noxious substances is required by law in some countries and local governments. in urban areas, air pollution from automobile exhaust and others creates a serious condition. Some homes are equipped with and use indoor air purifiers. In many of the kitchens of restaurants, smoke generated during cooking and otherwise contaminated air are cleansed by air purifiers before being released outside or recycled inside. For the dust collecting devices to recover the fine particles contained in contaminated air, the cause for air pollution and how to purify air, many types based on various principles are known. Specifically, classified based on theories of particle collection, filtration, gravity, inertia, centrifugation, electricity, and cleaning types are cited as available processes. Among them, an appropriate type is selected according to the size or type of fine particles to be collected and conditions for installation. For the efficiency of dust collection, a filtration system (by using bag filters and others) and electric system are particularly outstanding and are therefore used widely in various areas of industry. In this research, rotary type high performance oil mist and smoke collecting system with self auto cleaning device equipped with the cleaning fluid spraying section is investigated.

의료기기 재처리 세척 직원의 개인보호구 착용 이행의 영향요인 (Factors Influencing Compliance on the Use of Personal Protective Equipment during Cleaning of Medical Device Reprocessing Staffs)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors affecting compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) use among medical device reprocessing staff. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study included 163 cleaning staff members from ten general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires administered between July and September 2023. Analysis included t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Bonferroni correction, and multiple regression, conducted using SAS ver.9.4. Results: Statistically significant differences in compliance with PPE were found based on department and exposure to contamination within six months (t=-2.82, p=.007). Attitudes toward PPE (r=.22, p=.006) and awareness of the safety climate (r=.22, p=.006) showed a statistically significant positive correlation with PPE compliance. Factors influencing use of personal protective equipment by cleaning staff during medical device reprocessing were department, compliance with PPE, and awareness of the safety climate. The explanatory power of these factors was 58.0%. Conclusion: Improving PPE compliance and creating a safe cleaning environment entails fostering a supportive safety climate. Additionally, regular training that takes into consideration the characteristics of the cleaning staff, alongside continuous monitoring, is required.

자기위치 인식 가능한 덕트 청소로봇의 메카니즘 설계 및 제어기법 (Mechanism Design and Control Technique of Duct Cleaning Robot with Self-position Recognition)

  • 이 연구는 다양한 직경의 덕트를 탐사하고 극복하는 삼족 로봇의 구조를 디자인 하는 데에 목적이 있다. 세 개의 휠바디들은 센터바디에 연결되어 회로들이 모여있고 그것들이 로봇바디들을 움직인다. 또한 4개의 파트로 이루어진 슬라이더 링크 구조들도 로봇의 움직임을 돕는다. 스프링들은 로봇 다리의 수축과 확장을 가능하게 하는데 로봇이 다양한 환경을 극복할 수 있도록 해준다. 기어모터와 스프링, 그리고 벨트들은 정, 동역학적 계산에 의해 수직축과 다양한 수평 구조를 극복할 수 있도록 선정되었습니다. 센터 바디에는 카메라와 거리 센서가 장착되어 있으며 이를 활용하여 L형 및 T형의 덕트에서도 성공적으로 진행이 되도록 제어 알고리즘을 구현하였다. UWB 모듈 및 3변 측위 알고리즘을 사용하여 덕트 내의 청소로봇의 위치 추정도 성공적으로 이루어졌다.
