Tests of intrinsic-extrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, and creativity were administered to 75 college students. Results were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, partial correlation and Barron and Kenny's(1986) model. The main results were that (1) creativity was positively correlated with intrinsic motivation and negatively correlated with extrinsic motivation. (2) Self-efficacy played an important mediating role in the relationship between extrinsic motivation and creativity, but not in the relationship between intrinsic motivation and creativity, suggesting that extrinsic motivation negatively affects creativity because it lowers self-efficacy, which is intimately related with creativity. (3) The negative effect of extrinsic motivation on creativity was explained by such sub-factors of self-efficacy as self-confidence and preference for difficult tasks, but not by self-regulatory efficacy.
The purpose of this study was to test the mediating effects of self-esteem and empathy on university students' motivation for parenthood and their definition of parenthood. Participants were 1,492 students (male 581, female 898) from 19 universities throughout Korea. Results were: (1) The definition of parenthood was explained for motivation of parenthood (male $7{\sim}27%$, female $4{\sim}24%$) and empathy was explained for all the subfactors of motivation of parenthood except 'motivation for traditional norms' (male $4{\sim}16%$, female $2{\sim}13%$). Self-esteem was not explained as motivation of parenthood. (2) There was no mediating effect from self-esteem on motivation for parenthood or the definition of parenthood in any of the students. (3) There was a partial mediating effect of empathy on motivation of parenthood and the definition of parenthood. In male students, there were mediating effects in 'motivation for strengthening biological family ties', 'altruistic emotional motivation', and 'motivation for deepening marital bonds and perpetuating one's self'. In female students, there were mediating effects in 'motivation for strengthening biological family ties' and 'motivation for deepening marital bonds and perpetuating one's self'.

Online self-disclosure was hypothesized as a mediating variable, explaining the relationship between Facebook access motivation (relationship expansion, curiosity about others' life, maintenance of social connection, social pressure from others, habitual use, impression management, searching for information, and content sharing) and Facebook addiction. Data came from 407 high school students in the Busan, and Gyeongnam provinces. Structural analysis was used to specify the relations among measured construct. Facebook access motivation of curiosity about others' life, Facebook access motivation of maintenance of social connection, Facebook access motivation of social pressure from others, Facebook access motivation of habitual use, and Facebook access motivation of impression management were significant predictors of Facebook addiction. Online self-disclosure mediates between Facebook access motivation of curiosity about others' life, Facebook access motivation of social pressure from others, Facebook access motivation of searching for information & Facebook access motivation of content sharing and Facebook addiction. Viewing online self-disclosure as a mediator has important implications for social media addiction counseling practice.
A consumer is an individual entity with various motivations. This study is intended to incorporate a hierarchical structure of motivation to understand self-determined motivation for purchasing secondhand merchandise at thrift stores. A conceptual model adopted from Cadwallader et al. (2010)'s comprehensive model of motivation used in a marketing context was developed to investigate motivational process in secondhand merchandise shopping. The conceptual model includes the three levels of motivational structure-the global, contextual (environmental concern and frugality), and situational motivation. A series of the causal relationships among the three levels of self-determined motivations and buying intention to shop at thrift stores were hypothesized. A total of 219 respondents from two different northeastern state universities in the U.S. completed a self-administered survey. The results indicated that secondhand merchandise shopping is well explained in the hierarchical structure of self-determined motivation where the global motivation had a positive impact on the contextual motivations regarding environmental concern and frugality. Of the two contextual motivations, only environmental concern had a positive impact on situational motivation for shopping at thrift stores. Finally, the situational motivation positively influenced the intention to shop at thrift stores. The results of this model suggest that the hierarchical structure of self-determined motivation would be a very useful framework to understand consumer behavior for apparel shopping. Also, further research can be done to identify other contextual motivational factors to understand consumer motivation for shopping at thrift stores.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relations of mother-adolescent relationships and adolescents' self-esteem to their achievement motivation. The mediating role of adolescent' self-esteem was also explored in the relations between mother-adolescent relationships and their achievement motitation. The subjects of this study consisted of 284 2nd-grade middle school students living in D city. The major findings were that adolescents who experienced higher maternal warmth showed higher achievement motivation, while those who experienced higher maternal rejection/restriction showed lower achievement motivation. Adolescent who experienced higher open family communication reported higher achievement motivation, and those who experienced higher problem in family communication reported lower achievement motivation. The higher self-esteem was, the higher adolescents' achievement motivation was. Adolescents' self-esteem mediated in the relations between maternal rejection/restriction and problems in family communication and their achievement motivation.

This study aims to provide basic data on establishing online learning by identifying the effects of self-efficacy as a medium on factors affecting self-control according to self-determination motivation through contactless online learning due to Covid-19. The research method used SPSS 25 and Sobel test to examine the causal relationship between the spokesmen and 196 middle and high school students in W-city, Gangwon-do. Self-determination motivation has had a significant effect on self-efficacy and self-control, and self-efficacy has been shown to have a significant effect on self-control. Also, Self-efficacy had a partial mediating effect on self-determination motivation affecting self-control. Based on this, fundamental and continuous development of online education programs to promote self-control of online learners is required, and efforts should be made to support learners' capabilities through psychological counseling.
The aim of this study is twofold. First, this study aimed to explore how Korean university students' English learning motivation is related to their English listening proficiency and study time. Second, it attempted to interpret the English learning motivation linking the two different motivation theories: self-determination theory and L2 motivational self system. The constructs of the students' L2 learning motivation were investigated with the data obtained through the questionnaire from 122 sophomore students. A factor analysis was conducted to extract the major factors of motivation. As a result, 6 factors were extracted: Intrinsic Pleasure, Identified Value Regulation, Intrinsic Accomplishment, Introjected Regulation, External Regulation, and Identified Regulation. The Interrelatedness among the assessment results on the L2 listening proficiency (pre and post test), listening study time, and motivation factors was measured by correlation coefficients. The statistical results indicated that pre-test scores were significantly related to Identified Regulation and Identified Value Regulation toward English learning, and post-test results had significant correlation with Intrinsic Accomplishment and Identified Regulation. However, no motivation subtypes showed statistical association with the students' listening study time. The results were attempted to be interpreted both under L2 motivational self system and self-determination framework to better illuminate the motivation theory with more explanatory power.
The purpose of this study was to investigate university students' motivation for parenthood related to their definition of parenthood, empathy and self-esteem. Participants were 447 junior and senior students(male 263, female 184) in 5 universities throughout Korea. Results were : (1) Male students and employed mothers were higher than female students and unemployed mothers' 'motivation for strengthening biological family ties' but there were reversed results in 'motivation for traditional norms.' Students majoring in home economics showed the highest score in 'altruistic-emotional motivation.' (2) There were positive correlations between motivation for parenthood and definition of parenthood and empathy. 'Motivation for traditional norms' correlated positively with self-esteem. (3) Motivations for parenthood were explained by about 4~28% by their definition of parenthood, empathy, and self-esteem.
The purpose of this study was to develop a standardized scale to measure consumers' motivation to purchase based on a self-determination theory. A preliminary 27-item scale was developed through literature review, diary analysis, and FGI. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,000consumers on internet using the preliminary scale. Then a series of tests, such as test-retest, item analysis, item-to-total correlation, Cronbach's reliability coefficient, and factor analysis, were conducted using the survey data. The final scale with21 items was constructed in the end. The Purchase Motivation Scale for Consumers consisted of five factors: (1) external motivation, (2) introjected motivation, (3) identified motivation I: self-respect, (4) identified motivation II: pursuit of harmony, and (5) internal motivation.
