Design of Body RF Coil with Multiple Strips for Open MRI System by Pseudo Electric Dipole Radiation

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to optimize the configuration of body RF coil composed of 4 planar subcoils for low field open MRI. Method: Our low field RE coil is composed of 4 subcoils assumed to be located at both the bottom and top sides of permanent magnet. Each subcoils has 3 main strips. The coil system has mirror inversion symmetry. First, the currents on the strips are obtained by inductance calculation and circuit analysis, Second, all the strips are divided into line strip elements across the strips, the self Inductances of line strip elements and the mutual inductances among the line strip elements are calculated, and current distributions of strip are obtained by circuit analysis, where each strip is considered as parallel combination of line strip elements. Finally all the line strip elements are segmented, magnetic field has been calculated by pseudo electric dipole radiation method, where the current elements are regarded as pseudo electric dipole radiation sources. We have performed above procedures for various configurations of RE coil. The field homogeneity is calculated in the 25 cm DSV.

  • This paper presents a direct thrust control scheme for permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) by using digital signal processor(DSP). And a simulation method for the direct thrust control of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor using the equivalent circuit is presented. The detent force that was obtained by cubic spline method is considered in the simulation. Thrust correction coefficient is utilized to estimate actual thrust on the direct thrust control, which considers the longitudinal end effect due to the finite core length of the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. The motor self inductance, the initial flux linkage by the permanent magnet is calculated in advance by the finite element analysis, and then the direct control simulation is carried out. As the results, thrust, current and speed are shwon.

  • In this paper, performance of rectangular shaped magnetic power pads for inductive power transfer (IPT) system according to ferrite structure is analyzed. In order to evaluate the influences of ferrite structure, six cases of magnetic power pads are proposed. Self-inductance, coupling coefficient, quality factor, and coil to coil efficiency are compared as the displacement increases in the direction of x or y axis. For accurate estimation, finite element method (FEM) simulation is used and loss components of the power pads are numerically calculated and considered. Through the simulation and measured results, effectiveness of protrusive and enveloping ferrite structure is identified.

  • 본 논문에서는 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기를 위치센서 없이 기동하기 위해 회전자의 초기 위치를 추정하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 자기 인덕턴스의 포화현상에 따른 고정자 전류를 해석하고 최소자승법을 통해 회전자의 초기 위치를 추정한다. 전 구간에서 회전자의 초기 위치와 극성을 정확하게 알아낼 수 있어 돌극성 때문에 나타나는 릴럭턴스 토크를 효과적으로 사용할 수 있다. 또한, 전동기 정수에 영향을 받지 않으므로 다양한 전동기 구동 시스템에 적용할 수 있으며, 추가적인 하드웨어가 필요하지 않아 경제적이다. 제안하는 방법의 유효성과 우수성은 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증한다.

  • In this paper, embedded spiral inductors are investigated into the PCB substrate for low cost RF SOP applications. The spiral inductors designed with geometrical variations were simulated, fabricated, measured, and characterized by using 3D EM simulator, 8 layered PCB standard process and HP 8510B network analyzer (or verifying their applicability. The fabricated embedded spiral inductor has inductance of 9.4 nH at 800MHz, maximum quality factor of 64.8 at 1.09GHz and self resonant frequency of 3.93GHz, respectively. As the measured inductances and quality factors are well matched with simulated ones. PCB embedded spiral inductors are promising for advanced electronic systems with various functionality, low cost, small size and volume.

  • This paper presents Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller of IPMSM drive using fuzzy and neural-network. In general, PI controller in computer numerically controlled machine process fixed gain. To increase the robustness, fixed gain PI controller, Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller proposes a new method based fuzzy and neural-network. Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller is developed to minimize overshoot and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque, inertia, rotor resistance and self inductance. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner.

  • In this paper, zero voltage switched half bridge converter and an active-clamped, zero voltage switched forward converter equipped with self-driven synchronous rectifier is designed and investigated for high efficiency BC-DC converter. A synchronous rectifier is has a lower conduction power loss than shottky diode rectifier. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of parasitic inductance in a synchronous rectifier of DC-DC converters and examine overall efficiency of zero voltage switched DC-DC converters.

  • This paper presents an analytical approach to the magnetic field and the inductances of slotless permanent magnet machines with two types of winding. On the basis of a magnetic vector potential and a two-dimensional polar system, analytical solutions for flux density due to a permanent magnet and current are obtained. In addition, self and mutual inductances are obtained using the energy relationship. The analytical results are extensively validated by the nonlinear finite element method and by experimental results.

And this controller is better than the fixed gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.

  • On the contrary of a conventional motor with very narrow air-gap, it is difficult to calculate the accurate magnetic field distribution and the performance of an air-cored superconducting motor by 2 dimensional analysis, which does not use high permeability material except outer machine shield. This paper aims to do analysis of magnetic field and force distribution from the 3 dimensional modelling of a 1MW class superconducting synchronous motor. Especially, the field coil composed of Bi-2223 high-temperature superconductor and the outer machine shield are modelled by finite element analysis software according to their structures and the self-inductance and Lorentz force are calculated based on the 3 dimensional magnetic field calculation.
