Characteristics on the sulfuric acid leaching of zinc and manganese from the spent zinc-carbon battery powders obtained by cushing and magnetic separation, were investigated with the variation of sulfuric acid concentration, reaction temperature, stir-ring speed and solid/liquid ratio. The sample powders were composed of Zn metal, ZnO, $MnO_2$ and $Mn_2$$O_3$. and it was found that the selective leaching of zinc was difficult in this system. At the condition of S/L ratio 1:10, IM H$_2$$SO_4$, $60^{\circ}C$ and 200 rpm, leaching rate of Zn and Mn are 92% and 35% respectively. The concentration of Zn and Mn in the leaching solution are 19.5 g/l, 7.8 g/l and pH of that solution is 0.75. It was confirmed at reducing agent should be added to increase e leaching rate of manganese with sulfuric acid.
As a basic study on recovery of valuable metals such as vanadium and nickel from metal oxide obtained from waste orimulsion ash, we conducted selectively leaching of vanadium and nickel using $Na_2CO_3$ leaching and ammoniacal leaching, respectively. The 97% of vanadium was selectively leached at an optimum experimental condition, 50g/L $Na_2CO_3$, pulp density 50g/L, and 35% $H_2O_2$ 50ml/L, $25^{\circ}C$... for 1 hr, whereas no nickel was leached. In ammoniacal leaching study, 95% of nickel was selectively leached at the optimal experimental condition, $NH_4OH\;2M,\;(NH_4){_2}SO_4$ 1.5M, pulp density 50g/L, 25, for 4 hr along with 3% of vanadium.

Leaching experiments from single metal and metallic mixtures were conducted to develop a process for the recovery of cobalt, copper, and nickel in spent lithium ion batteries. Inorganic and organic acid solutions without oxidizing agents were employed. No copper was dissolved in the absence of an oxidizing agent in the leaching solutions. The leaching condition to completely dissolve single metal of cobalt and nickel was determined based on acid concentration, reaction temperature and time, and pulp density. The leaching condition to dissolve all of cobalt and nickel from the metallic mixtures was also obtained. Leaching of the metallic mixture with methanesulfonic acid led to selective dissolution of cobalt at low temperatures.
In order to utilize incineration fly ash of industrial wastes as resources, we present the recovery and separation of metals included in the fly ash by leaching with aqueous solution A great quantity of Cu, Pb, and Zn as well as a small amount oftoxic heavy metals are contained in the leach liquor of the fly ash, and the concentration of the ingredients of the fly ash depends on the industrial wastes which are fed into incinerators. In this paper, sequential Ieachiog operations are conducted using $H_2O$, $H_2SO_4$, $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ and NaOH as Icachants. Water soluble copper salt was leached by $H_2O$, Zn and Pb were separated by the NaOH leach liquor, and water insoluble copper was selectively leached as chelate ion with the $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ leach liquor of the third Ieaehant. Results show that the reduction percent of the fly ash in the leaching steps using $H_2O$, $H_2SO_4$, and $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ is 77%, and the other leaching procedures lose the weight of fly ash by above 60%.
Sol-gel derived phosphate water-sioluble glasses containing Cu were prepared. Powder-shape of glasses were added in D.I water used polyethylene bottle. After solution contained glass powder were submerged in water bath on 25$^{\circ}C$ their dissolution behavior/characteristics bactericidal effect and cytotoxicity test were evaluated. The maximum amount of Cu(35 mol%) via sol-gel method was more 5 mol% increased than that with melting process. The stage of total dissolution was more dominant than that of selective leaching dur-ing dissolution due to dissolved amount of glasses increased linearly with time. The ratio of Cu+ to {{{{ {Cu }^{2+ } }} was 3:7 so that the structure of glasses is more predominant 2-dimension chain structure than 3-dimenshion po-lymeric structue. The stage of total dissolution was more dominant than that of selective leaching during dissolution. Bactericidal effect against all bacteria showed that solutions which contained 40 ppm and 100 ppm of Cu killed 80 percentages of bacteria within 2 hours and 100 percentages of those within 12 hours. The results of cytotoxicity test for L929 cells showed no cytotoxicity were observed within 96 hours for dis-solved solution that contains 40 ppm and 100 ppm of Cu.
A Study on the recovery of the valuable metals(Vanadium Molybdenium) was carried out using spent catalysts originated from desulfurizing process of oil refinery. Experiments consisted of pre-roasting for Sulfur and Carbon removal, soda roasting and leaching for the extraction of valuable metals, and selective precipitation of Vanadium and Molybdenium. Effects of temperature and time in roasting for Sulfur removal, of $Na_2CO_3$ concentrations in soda roasting, and of pulp density, temperature and time in leaching were investigated for the recovery of Vanadium and Molybdenium. A optimum condition having over 85% in yield of Vanadium and Molybdenium was found. In the selective precipitation, more than 98% of Vanadium and Molybdenium were obtained by the variation of pH and concentration of additives.
Tissue engineering is a research field for artificial substitutes to improve or replace biological functions. Scaffolds play a important role in tissue engineering. Scaffold porosity and pore size provide adequate space, nutrient transportation and cell penetration throughout the scaffold structure. Scaffold structure is directly related to fabrication methods. This review will introduce the current technique of 3D scaffold fabrication for tissue engineering. The conventional technique for scaffold fabrication includes salt leaching, gas foaming, fiber bonding, phase seperation, melt moulding, and freeze drying. These conventional scaffold fabrication has the limitations of cell penetration and interconnectivity. In this paper, we will present the solid freeform fabrication (SFF) such as stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), and fused deposition modeling (FDM), and 3D printing (3DP).

Recycling technologies would be required in consideration of increasing demand in lithium ion batteries (LIBs). In this study, the leaching behavior of Ni, Co and Mn is investigated with ammoniacal medium for spent cathode active materials, which are separated from a commercial LIB pack in hybrid electric vehicles. The leaching behavior of each metal is analyzed in the presence of reducing agent and pH buffering agent. The existence of reducing agent is necessary to increase the leaching efficiency of Ni and Co. The leaching of Mn is insignificant even with the existence of reducing agent in contrast to Ni and Co. The most conspicuous difference between acid and ammoniacal leaching would be the selective leaching behavior between Ni/Co and Mn. The ammoniacal leaching can reduce the cost of basic reagent that makes the pH of leachate higher for the precipitation of leached metals in the acid leaching.
This study was carried out to recover gold, silver and valuable metals from the printed circuit boards (PCBs) of waste computers. PCBs samples were crushed under 1 mm by a shredder and separated into 30% conducting and loft nonconducting materials by an electrostatic separator. The conducting materials contained valuable metals which were then used as feed materials for magnetic separation. 42% of magnetic materials from the conducting materials was removed by magnetic separation as nonvaluable materials and the others, 58% of non magnetic materials, was used as leaching samples containing 0.227 mg/g Au and 0.697 mg/g Ag. Using the materials of leaching from magnetic separation, more than 95% of copper, iron, zinc, nickel and aluminium was dissolved in 2.0M sulfuric acid solution, added with 0.2M hydrogen peroxide at $85^{\circ}C$. Au and Ag were not extracted in this solution. On the other hand, more than 95% of gold and 100% of silver were leached by the selective leaching with a mixed solvent (0.2M($NH_4$)$_2$$S_2$$O_3$,0.02M $CuSO_4$,0.4M $NH_4$OH). Finally, the residues were reacted with a NaCl solution to leach Pb whereas sulfuric acid was used to leach Sn. Recoveries reached 95% and 98% in solution, respectively.
For the separation of neodymium from NdFeB permanent magnet scrap, the scrap was roasted for oxidizing, and leached with acetic acid followed by fractional crystallization for selective separation. From the analysis results of the leached solution, the optimum condition for the recovery of neodymium was found that leaching temperature, leaching time and pulp density are 80$^{\circ}C$, 3 hours, and 35%, respectively. At this optimum condition, more than 90% of neodymium could be recovered. Concentration of neodymium acetate in acetic acid. The optimum condition for the recovery of neodymium acetate crystal from the leached solution was that the initial leaching solution was evaporated until the remaining volume was about 1/5 of the initial volume. At this condition, 67.5% of neodymium was recovered from the leached solution. The neodymium remaining in the concentrated solution was recovered by reacting it with oxalic acid.
