$Cu-CeO_2$ catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation and liquid phase oxidation (CP-LPO) and the prepared catalysts were examined as selective oxidation of carbon monoxide catalysts for the application of fuel cell vehicles. The prepared $Cu-CeO_2$ catalysts showed high reaction activity, but it was hard to find the correlation between the amount of Cu loaded and the reaction activities. As increase of the amount of Cu loaded, the micro pore structure of the catalyst was changed. It is due to the formation of solid solution between Cu and $CeO_2$. During pretreatment, the catalyst formed the solid-solution of Cu-Ce-O, resulting in the improvement of catalytic activity.

Selective laser melting (SLM) manufactures an alloy using laser as a heat source, and has recently been introduced in the dental industry. However, there is a lack of analytical research on metal-ceramic restorations achieved by SLM. This study evaluates and compares the metal-ceramic bond strength of Co-Cr alloys produced by selective laser melting and casting methods. Co-Cr samples required for this study were produced through the sintering process of ceramics, by applying the SLM and CAST methods. The metal-ceramic bond strength was measured by applying the shear bond strength test. In order to determine the area fraction of adherent ceramic, Si content of the specimen was measured using scanning electron microscopy SEM/ EDS. Results of the metal-ceramic bond strength and AFAC were analyzed by t-test (α = 0.05). No significant difference was observed comparing the bond strength of SLM and CAST Co-Cr alloys (P> 0.05). However, the SLM group had much better ceramic adherence than the CAST group (P < 0.001). Moreover, oxidation characteristics were similar for both SLM and CAST Co-Cr alloys, but metal structures were different. These results imply that although the bond of ceramic and Co-Cr alloy is not related to the manufacturing method, SLM alloys impart better ceramic adherence. This indicates that alloys made with SLM can be used to fabricate upper implant prostheses in the future. In particular, it is expected to overcome the shortcomings of the CAST method, and save time and cost.
Mercury oxidation in an SCR(selective catalytic reduction) catalyst was tested in this study with the conditions simulating the SCR system in full-scale coal-fired flue gas. A commercially available SCR catalyst was located in a temperature-controlled reactor system, and simulated gas was injected into the reactor. Mercury oxidation efficiency was determined from the difference between inlet and outlet elemental mercury concentrations. A control experiment was carried out with the gas composition of 12% $CO_{2}$, 5% $H_{2}O$, 5% $O_{2}$, 500 ppm $SO_{2}$, 400 ppm NO, 400 ppm $NH_{3}$, 5 ppm HCl, and 20 ${\mu}g/m^{3}$ Hg. Additional tests were conducted with different gas composition from the control condition to investigate the effect of gas composition on mercury oxidation in the SCR catalyst.

This study was performed to obtain high conversion efficiency of $NH_3$ and minimize generation of nitrogen oxides using metal-supported catalyst with Ag : Cu ratio. Through structural analysis of the prepared catalyst with Ag : Cu ratio ((10-x)Ag-xCu ($0{\leq}x{\leq}6$)), it was confirmed that the specific surface area was decrease with increasing metal content. A prepared catalysts showed Type II adsorption isotherms regardless of the ratio Ag : Cu of metal content, and crystalline phase of $Ag_2O$, CuO and $CuAl_2O$ was observed by XRD analysis. In the low temperature($150{\sim}200^{\circ}C$), a conversion efficiency of AC_10 recorded the highest(98%), whereas AC_5 (Ag : Cu = 5 : 5) also showed good conversion efficiency(93.8%). However, in the high temperature range, the amounts of by-products(NO, $NO_2$) formed with AC_5 was lower than that of AC_10. From these results, It is concluded that AC_5 is more environmentally and economically suitable.

Hydrogen as an energy carrier in fuel cell offers perhaps the largest potential benefits of reduced emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. The generation of high-purity hydrogen from hydrocarbon fuels is essential for efficient operation of fuel cell. Reduction of carbon monoxide to an acceptable level of 10ppm involves high temperature and low temperature water gas shift (WGS), followed by selective oxidation of residual carbon monoxide. The WGS reactor was designed and tested in this study to produce hydrogen-rich gas with CO to less than 5000 ppm. In the water gas shift operation, gas emerges from the reformer is taken through a high temperature shift (HTS) catalyst to reduce the CO concentration to about $2{\sim}4%$ followed to about 5000 ppm via a low temperature shift (LTS) catalyst.
Activated oxidation catalysts are generated by the treatment of pentadentate Schiff base cobalt(Ⅱ) complexes with the oxygen saturated DMF solution. Oxidation of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol by homogeneous oxidation catalysts of superoxo type pentadentate schiff base cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes yields 2,6-di-tert-butylbenzoquinone(BQ) as a major product. And $O_2$/Co mole ratio of homogeneous oxidative catalysts such as [Co(Ⅲ)(sal-DET)]$O_2$ and [Co(Ⅲ)(sal-DPT)]$O_2$by PVT method of the oxygen absorption in DMSO and pyridine solution was 1:1, 1:1.52 in DMF solution and ${\mu}$-peroxo type cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes formed at solid state. The redox reaction processes of superoxo type cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes as homogeneous oxidation catalysts were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and DPP method at a glassy carbon electrode. As a result of electrochemical measurements the reduction processes of oxygen adducted superoxo type cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes occurred to four steps including prewave of $O_2$-in 0.1M TEAP-DMSO and 0.1 M TEAP-Pyridine as supporting electrolyte solution.

The synergistic effects in mechanical mixture catalysts of Mo-V-O and metal oxide were investigated for the selective oxidation of acrolein. The metal oxides used are $SnO_2$, ${\alpha}-Sb_2O_4$, $WO_3$, ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$, CuO, $MnO_2$, $Cu_2O$, MgO, CoO, and ZnO. Mechanical mixtures of Mo-V-O plus $SnO_2$ or ${\alpha}-Sb_2O_4$ had resulted in higher conversion of acrolein and higher yield of acrylic acid than Mo-V-O. The origin of the synergy is attributed to the cooperation of Mo-V-O and $SnO_2$ or ${\alpha}-Sb_2O_4$, in which $SnO_2$ or ${\alpha}-Sb_2O_4$ forms dissociated oxygens at their oxygen vacancies and transports them to Mo-V-O. $Cu_2O$, MgO, CuO, and $MnO_2$, increased conversion of acrolein but decreased yield of acrylic acid. CoO and ZnO inhibited the catalytic performance of Mo-V-O. The different role of these metal oxides is explained in terms of their oxidation-reduction properties.
In this study, the effect of physical properties of $Pt/TiO_2$ on $NH_3$-selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) reaction at $200{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ was investigated. CO-chemisoption and BET analysis were carried out to verify physical properties of $Pt/TiO_2$. By characterizing physical properties of $Pt/TiO_2$ with respect to the Pt loading, the metal dispersion degree decreased as a function of the Pt loading amount. Also, the catalyst having a higher metal dispersion showed an excellent conversion efficiency of $NH_3$ to $N_2$. Since the specific surface area of the support affects the metal dispersion, $Pt/TiO_2$ catalysts were prepared using $TiO_2$ with different physical properties. As a result, it was confirmed that the catalyst having a wide specific surface area exhibited a excellent conversion of $NH_3$ to $N_2$.
Nitrous oxide ($N_2O$), known as one of the major greenhouse gases, is an important component of the earth's atmosphere, and gives rise to precursor of acid rain and photochemical smog. For the removal of $N_2O$ and other nitrogen oxides, the SCR reaction system with various reductants is widely used. This study is based on the results of experimental and theoretical examinations on the catalytic decomposition of sole nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) and selective catalytic reduction of $N_2O$ with $CH_4$ in the presence of oxygen using mixed metal oxide catalysts obtained from hydrolatcite-type precursors. When $CH_4$ is fed together with a reductant, it affects positively on the $N_2O$ decomposition activity. At an optimum ratio of $CH_4$ to $O_2$ mole ratio, the $N_2O$ conversion activity is enhanced on the SCR reaction with partial oxidation of methane.
We report the discovery of Li-rich $Li_{1+x}[(Ni_{0.225}Co_{0.15}Mn_{0.625})_{1-y}V_y]O_2$ as a cathode material for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in which a small amount of tetravalent vanadium ($V^{4+}$) is selectively and completely incorporated into the manganese sites in the lattice structure. The unwanted oxidation of vanadium to form a $V_2O_5-like$ secondary phase during high-temperature crystallization is prevented by uniformly dispersing the vanadium ions in coprecipitated $[(Ni_{0.225}Co_{0.15}Mn_{0.625})_{1-y}V_y](OH)_2$ particles. Upon doping with $V^{4+}$ ions, the initial discharge capacity (>$275mA\;h\;g^{-1}$), capacity retention, and voltage decay characteristics of the Li-rich layered oxides are improved significantly in comparison with those of the conventional undoped counterpart.
