  • We evaluated the efficiencies of applying attribute selection methods and prior discretization to supervised learning, modelled by C4.5 and Naive Bayes. Three databases were obtained from UCI data archive, which consisted of continuous attributes except for one decision attribute. Four methods were used for attribute selection : MDI, ReliefF, Gain Ratio and Consistency-based method. MDI and ReliefF can be used for both continuous and discrete attributes, but the other two methods can be used only for discrete attributes. Discretization was performed using the Fayyad and Irani method. To investigate the effect of noise included in the database, noises were introduced into the data sets up to the extents of 10 or 20%, and then the data, including those either containing the noises or not, were processed through the steps of attribute selection, discretization and classification. The results of this study indicate that classification of the data based on selected attributes yields higher accuracy than in the case of classifying the full data set, and prior discretization does not lower the accuracy.

  • The performance of an AGV varies with the applied AGV dispatching rule in the operation of AGVS. This study proposes a multi-attribute AGV dispatching rule. The suggested dispatching rule considers the output queue of a workstation, distance between an idle AGV and a workstation to be served, the input queue of the destination and the remaining job process of a part. This study suggests two types of and the remaining job process of a part. This study suggests two types of multi-attribute dispatching rules. One is an one-stage rule which selects the part to be served considering four attributes simultaneously. The other is a two-stage rule by which a workstation is selected and a part is chosen from the selected workstation. The simulation runs were executed under different experimental conditions to obtain preliminary statistics on the several performance measures.

  • This research approached the negotiation problem from the seller's perspective in the make-to-order manufacturing industry in order to solve the multi-attribute automated negotiation problem. To this end, more than 'two negotiation attributes are defined and a preferred value of each negotiation alternative is calculated based on the entropy value of each attribute. And then, the best option is selected according to the utility function of each negotiator, a penalty of negotiation delay, and conviction of possibility of negotiation success. The suggested automated negotiation methods in this study can be employed for the development of advanced automated negotiation systems.

  • The stability of cutting slope influences the safety of railway operation, and how to identify the stability of the slope quickly and determine the rational monitoring plan is a pressing problem at present. In this study, the attribute recognition model of risk assessment for high cutting slope stability in the heavy haul railway is established based on attribute mathematics theory, followed by the consequent monitoring scheme design. Firstly, based on comprehensive analysis on the risk factors of heavy haul railway loess slope, collapsibility, tectonic feature, slope shape, rainfall, vegetation conditions, train speed are selected as the indexes of the risk assessment, and the grading criteria of each index is established. Meanwhile, the weights of the assessment indexes are determined by AHP judgment matrix. Secondly, The attribute measurement functions are given to compute attribute measurement of single index and synthetic attribute, and the attribute recognition model was used to assess the risk of a typical heavy haul railway loess slope, Finally, according to the risk assessment results, the monitoring content and method of this loess slope were determined to avoid geological disasters and ensure the security of the railway infrastructure. This attribute identification- risk assessment- monitoring design mode could provide an effective way for the risk assessment and control of heavy haul railway in the loess plateau.

  • For analyzing big data, the social network is increasingly being utilized through relational data, which means the connection characteristics between entities such as people and objects. When the relational data does not exist directly, a social network can be configured by calculating relational data such as attribute similarity from attribute data of entities and using it as links. In this paper, the composition method of the social network using the attribute similarity between entities as a connection relationship, and the clustering method using subgroups for the configured social network are suggested, and the clustering effectiveness of the clustering results is evaluated. The analysis results can vary depending on the type and characteristics of the data to be analyzed, the type of attribute similarity selected, and the criterion value. In addition, the clustering effectiveness may not be consistent depending on the its evaluation method. Therefore, selections and experiments are necessary for better analysis results. Since the analysis results may be different depending on the type and characteristics of the analysis target, options for clustering, etc., there is a limitation. In addition, for performance evaluation of clustering, a study is needed to compare the method of this paper with the conventional method such as k-means.

  • This study had two major purposes: 1) to establish a quantitative measure of the overall restaurant attractiveness for each of the selected restaurants. 2) to examine the implications of the findings from the above concerning the operating initiatives necessary to improve the restaurant attractiveness. A multi attribute model was employed to obtain a numerical index of the attractiveness for each of the three fast food restaurants. It was found that certain of the attributes selected were clearly established as determinant variables(p<0.05). The research plotted the location of Attributes on a graph where the axes are the salience and importance scores to indicate approximate positions in four cells. Finally, the implications of these findings concering marketing and develpment initiatives to improve the perceptual attractiveness of the three fast food restaurant1.s are discussed.
