This present study deals with the microstructure and tensile properties of 600 MPa-grade high strength and seismic resistant reinforcing steels. The high strength reinforcing steel (SD 600) was fabricated by Tempcore processing, while the seismic resistant reinforcing steel (SD 600S) was air-cooled after hot-rolling treatment. The microstructure analysis results showed that the SD 600 steel specimen consisted of a tempered martensite and ferrite-pearlite structure after Tempcore processing, while the SD 600S steel specimen had a fully ferrite-pearlite structure. The room-temperature tensile test results indicate that, because of the enhanced solid solution and precipitation strengthening caused by relatively higher contents of C, Mn, Si and V in the SD 600S steel specimen, this specimen, with fully ferrite-pearlite structure, had yield and tensile strengths higher than those of the SD 600 specimen. On the other hand, the hardness of the SD 600 and SD 600S steel specimens changed in different ways according to location, dependent on the microstructure, ferrite grain size, and volume fraction.
The present study deals with the microstructure and mechanical properties of 700 MPa-grade high-strength seismic resistant reinforced steel bars fabricated by various TempCore process conditions. For the steel bars, in the surface region tempered martensite was formed by water cooling and subsequent self-tempering during TempCore process, while in the center region there was ferrite-pearlite or bainite microstructure. The steel bar fabricated by the highest water flow and the lowest equalizing temperature had the highest hardness in all regions due to the relatively fine microstructure of tempered martensite and bainite. In addition, the steel bar having finer microstructures as well as the high fraction of tempered martensite in the surface region showed the highest yield and tensile strengths. The presence of vanadium precipitates and the high fraction of ferrite contributed to the improvement of seismic resistance such as high tensile-to-yield strength ratio and high uniform elongation.

Constructed structures, before the seismic design codes are established was not designed an earthquake resist. So, evaluate seismic performance of structures and appropriate strengthening are required. To seismic reinforcement of railway structures, literature investigation was conducted about a variety of domestic and international processing enhance and repair the existing maintenance. Also, facilities standardization group, in research group of railway standards, when applied the developed seismic reinforcement system to the railway, conducted the survey that can occur the uniqueness for construction. These specific changes that reflect the seismic reinforcement of the system was required to establish application requirements.

For the last several decades, high-resolution shallow marine seismic technique has been used for various resources, engineering and geological surveys. Even though the multichannel method is powerful to image subsurface structures, single channel analog survey has been more frequently employed in shallow water exploration, because it is more expedient and economical. To improve the quality of the high-resolution seismic data economically, we acquired digital seismic data using a small air gun, 6 channel streamer and PC-based system, performed data processing and produced high-resolution seismic sections. For many years, such test acquisitions were performed with other studies which have different purposes in the area of off Pohang, Yellow Sea and Gyeonggi-bay. Basic data processing was applied to the acquired data and the processing sequence included gain recovery, deconvolution, filtering, normal moveout, static corrections, CMP gathering and stacking. Examples of digitally processed sections were shown and compared with analog sections. Digital seismic sections have a much higher resolution after data processing. The results of acquisition and processing show that the high-resolution shallow marine seismic surveys using a small air gun, 6 channel streamer and PC-based system may be an effective way to image shallow subsurface structures precisely.
The seismic events in Northern Italy, May 2012, have revealed the seismic vulnerability of typical Italian precast industrial buildings. The aim of this paper is to present a seismic fragility model for Italian RC precast buildings, to be used in earthquake loss estimation and seismic risk assessment by comparing two building typologies and three different codes: D.M. 3-03-1975, D.M. 16-01-1996 and current Italian building code that has been released in 2008. Based on geometric characteristics and design procedure applied, ten different building classes were identified. A Monte Carlo simulation was performed for each building class in order to generate the building stock used for the development of fragility curves trough analytical method. The probabilistic distributions of geometry were mainly obtained from data collected from 650 field surveys, while the material properties were deduced from the code in place at the time of construction or from expert opinion. The structures were modelled in 2D frameworks; since the past seismic events have identified the beam-column connection as the weakest element of precast buildings, two different modelling solutions were adopted to develop fragility curves: a simple model with post processing required to detect connection collapse and an innovative modelling solution able to reproduce the real behaviour of the connection during the analysis. Fragility curves were derived using both nonlinear static and dynamic analysis.
Gas hydrate has been paid attention to study for because: 1) it can be considered as a new energy resources; 2) one of reasons causing the instability of sea floor slope and 3) a factor to the climate change. Bottom simulating reflector (BSR) defined as seismic boundary between the gas hydrate and free gas zone has been considered as the most common evidence in the seismic reflection data for the gas hydrate exploration. BSR has several characteristics such as parallel to the sea bottom, high amplitude, reducing interval velocity between above and below BSR and reversing phase to the sea bottom. Moreover, instantaneous attribute properties such as amplitude envelop, instantaneous frequency, phase and first derivative of amplitude of seismic data from the complex analysis could be used to analyze properties of BSR those would be added to the certain properties of BSR in order to effectively find out the existence of BSR of the gas hydrate stability zone. The output of conventional seismic data processing for gas hydrate data set in Ulleung basin in the East sea of Korea will be used for complex analyses to indicate better BSR in the seismic reflection data. This result of this analysis implies that the BSR of the analyzed seismic profile is clearly located at the two ways time (TWT) of around 3.1 seconds.
Multi-channel seismic survey, which has been mainly employed in oil prospecting, is carried out as a high resolution shallow marine seismic exploration. Fault drop as small as 1 m can be resolved by employing high-resolution seismic survey. Similar to the effect of shallow inhomogenities in the land seismic data, due to occurrence of swell quite often higher than 1 m, shallow marine seismic data tend to be severely degraded. Suppression of such a swell effect is critical in processing of steps of marine seismic shallow high-resolution data. Compared to the moving average depth method, a newly developed method using cross-correlation technique is found out to be very effective in increasing the resolution of the shallow reflection events by accuratly elucidating the depth of sea bottom.
The bright spot is an indicator for natural gas on seismic stack sections, but it is also shown on layers where the acoustic impedance contrast is large. In order to distinguish sharply between gas and impedance contrast we need additional detailed data processing such as velocity analysis, AVO analysis and seismic complex analysis including measures of seismic amplitude, frequency, and phase. In this study, we performed detailed velocity analysis, complex analysis and DHI (Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator) analysis which is the result of amplitude variation according to the incident angles. The seismic complex analysis gives us the geological information which depends on geophysical properties at the interest layer. For the complex analysis, we computed several seismic attributes such as the instantaneous amplitude, the first and the second derivatives of the instantaneous amplitude, the instantaneous phase, the instantaneous frequency and weighted average instantaneous frequency. Then we applied these analysis techniques to a seismic data of Korea offshore which had been logged. From the result of this data analysis, it could be said that high possibility area for gas layer detection has amplitude anomalies in the instantaneous amplitude, the instantaneous frequency and the DHI section resulting from the AVO analysis. If there are not any other anomalies in detailed data processing, it will have low possibility for gas layer detection.
In land and marine seismic survey, we generally set receivers with equal interval suppose that sampling interval Is too narrow. But the cost of seismic data acquisition and that of data processing are much higher, therefore we should design proper receiver interval. Spatial aliasing can be occurred on seismic data when sampling interval is too coarse. If we Process spatial aliasing data, we can not obtain a good imaging result. Trace interpolation is used to improve the quality of multichannel seismic data processing. In this study, we applied the Spitz algorithm which is widely used in seismic data processing. This algorithm works well regardless of dip information of the complex underground structure. Using prediction filter and original traces with linear event we interpolated in f-x domain. We confirm our algorithm by examining for some synthetic data and marine data. After interpolation, we could find that receiver intervals get more narrow and the number of receiver is increased. We also could see that continuity of traces is more linear than before Applying this interpolation algorithm on seismic data with spatial aliasing, we may obtain a better migration imaging.

A short seismic reflection survey was performed to map the basement and the upper units in the Gomso Bay. This research was mainly aimed at clarifying the basement by improving the signal-to-noise ratio in data processing steps. The strategies employed in this research included enhancement of the signal interfered with large-amplitude noise, through pre- and post-stack processing such as time-variant filtering, bad trace edit, careful muting after f-k filter and NMO correction. The subsurface structure mapped from this survey mainly consists of the top of basement and the upper three units, which were well correlated to the result from the previously conducted MT survey. Furthermore seismic section clarifies approximately 30m deep subhorizontal event of the top of the basement, which was not shown in the central portion of the MT section due to data qualify.
