  • A secure Electronic Payment System (EPS) is essential for the booming online shopping market. A successful EPS supports the transfer of electronic money and sensitive information with security, accuracy, and integrity between the seller and buyer over the Internet. SET, CyberCash, Paypal, and iKP are the most popular Credit Card-Based EPSs (CCBEPSs). Some CCBEPSs only use SSL to provide a secure communication channel. Hence, they only prevent "Man in the Middle" fraud but do not protect the sensitive cardholder information such as the credit card number from being passed onto the merchant, who may be unscrupulous. Other CCBEPSs use complex mechanisms such as cryptography, certificate authorities, etc. to fulfill the security schemes. However, factors such as ease of use for the cardholder and the implementation costs for each party are frequently overlooked. In this paper, we propose a Web service based new payment system, based on ANSI X9.59-2006 with extra features added on top of this standard. X9.59 is an Account Based Digital Signature (ABDS) and consumer-oriented payment system. It utilizes the existing financial network and financial messages to complete the payment process. However, there are a number of limitations in this standard. This research provides a solution to solve the limitations of X9.59 by adding a merchant authentication feature during the payment cycle without any addenda records to be added in the existing financial messages. We have conducted performance testing on the proposed system via a comparison with SET and X9.59 using simulation to analyze their levels of performance and security.

  • In recent years, many research efforts have been made on privacy-preserving data mining (PPDM) in data of large volume. In this paper, we propose a PPDM solution based on principal component analysis (PCA), which can be widely used in computing correlation among sensitive data sets. The general method of computing PCA is to collect all the data spread in multiple nodes into a single node before starting the PCA computation; however, this approach discloses sensitive data of individual nodes, involves a large amount of computation, and incurs large communication overheads. To solve the problem, in this paper, we present an efficient method that securely computes PCA without the need to collect all the data. The proposed method shares only limited information among individual nodes, but obtains the same result as that of the original PCA. In addition, we present a dimensionality reduction technique for the proposed method and use it to improve the performance of secure similar document detection. Finally, through various experiments, we show that the proposed method effectively and efficiently works in a large amount of multi-dimensional data.

  • Recently, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems stands in the spotlight of industry as a common and useful tool in manufacturing, supply chain management (SCM) and stock management. In the near future, low-cost RFID Electronic Product Code; (EPC) or smart-labels may be a practical replacement for optical barcodes on consumer items. However, manufacturing cheap and small RFID tags, and developing secure RFID authentication Protocols are problems which need to be solved. In spite of advances in semiconductor technology, computation and storage ability of the tag are so limited that it is difficult and too expensive to apply existing crypto-systems to RFID tags. Thus it is necessary to create a new protocol which would require less storage space and lower computation costs and that is secure in the RFID system's environments. In this paper, we propose a RFID authentication protocol that is secure against location tracking and spoofing attacks. Our protocol can be used as a practical solution for privacy protection because it requires less computations in database than the previous RFID authentication protocol.

  • Honeybee venom (BV) from Apis mellifera L. has been used as natural antimicrobial compounds in pigs, cows, dairy cattle and chicken farms in Korea. The purpose of this study was conducted to confirm homogeneity and stability of BV dissolved with distilled water or saline solution. Melittin was analyzed with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) for BV to secure the validation of analysis. BV at concentration of 1 mg/mL was dissolved with distilled water or saline solution at room temperature. Homogeneity of BV dissolved with distilled water or saline solution at upper, milddle, and lower layers all satisfied the accuracy and precision criteria. Stability of BV dissolved with distilled water or saline solution for 7 days all satisfied the criterion both light and dark storage condition. BV has satisfied with homogeneity and stability in distilled water or saline solution at room temperature under light or dark condition. The results of this study suggest that BV has a possibility as the substitute of natural antimicrobial agents for the animal drugs and feed additives.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of heparin and 0.9% normal saline solution flushing for maintaining patency of nontunneled central venous catheters in patients with surgery. Methods: A randomized controlled clinical trial was performed. Fiftyeight patients were prospectively enrolled and fifty-four patients were completed the study. The heparin group consisted of 30 patients given 100u/ml diluted heparin flushing and the normal saline group consisted of 24 patients with 0.9% sodium chloride flushing. Results: There was no significantly difference in occlusion between the heparin group and the normal saline group in nontunneled central venous catheters' occlusion. Also there was no difference between these two groups in catheterrelated infections. Conclusion: Flushing with 0.9% normal saline is as effective as flushing with heparin solution in maintaining the patency of nontunneled central venous catheters. In this study, however, the duration of central line use was short and the infection occurrence was little. Further studies are warranted with a larger sample size at multiple centers.

  • The viscosities of strong electrolytic solutions, such as KCl, KI and NaI have been measured over a fairy wide range of concentration variation (from 0.00002 to 3.7M). It was hoped that a study of the data in the light of modern theories on solution might reveal new relation between viscosity and surface tension of electrolytic solution. To secure more accurate measurements of viscosity and surface tension of the solutions, Ostwald viscometer was made with pyrex glass and modified the timing system for the transit of the meniscus with a new electronics system and with a pulse counter. As the experimental data obtained were in good agreement with the Jone's values, Jones-Dole equations for the electrolytic solutions were deduced, ${\eta}KCl\;=\;1\;+\;0.0052{\sqrt{c}}\;-\;0.01612c\;+\;0.00808c^2\;at\;30^{\circ}C$ ${\eta}KI\;=\;1\;+\;0.0220{\sqrt{c}}\;-\;0.01290c\;+\;0.02988c^2\;at\;25^{\circ}C$${\eta}Na\; =\;1\;+\;0.0240{\sqrt{c}}\;-\;0.0640c\;+\;0.03268c^2\;at\;25^{\circ}C$Gruneisen effect appeared in the dilute solution, whereas anti-Gruneisen effect was found for the extremely dilute solution. No satisfactory interpretation for the variation of the viscosity with concentration can be found at the present.

  • Content security and privacy protection are important issues in emerging network-based video surveillance applications. Especially, satisfying both real-time constraint and energy efficiency with embedded system-based video sensors is challenging since the battery-operated sensors need to compress and protect video content in real-time. In this paper, we propose a multicore-based solution to compress and protect video surveillance data, and evaluate the effectiveness of the solution in terms of both real-time constraint and energy efficiency. Based on the experimental results with MPEG2/AES software, we confirm that the multicore-based solution can improve the energy efficiency of a singlecore-based solution by a factor of 30 under the real-time constraint.

  • Currently the locations of Unpleasant Facilities, especially surrounding the site selections, have been causing conflicts among the national government, many local governments and local residents. These Unpleasant Facilities must be necessary facilities for people's modern cultural lives, but there is no obvious solution that will make us all pleasant for the locations of them until now. In this study, we'll focused on applying the Floating architecture, one of the variety of marine structures, as an alternative location of Public service facilities accommodating Unpleasant Facilities which are classified as public service facilities. Of course, there should be beforehand studies in which we can define Unpleasant Facilities and analyse the conflicts surrounding the locations of them, and we can suggest that applying the Floating architecture should be the very solution to solve all these problems together. And as our main study, we should research and develop the structure and construction, maintenance and management of the Floating architecture which will be applied to the Unpleasant Facilities, together with the environmental considerations of their emergence on the waters. In future, to secure Unpleasant Facilities sites will become more and more difficult, and so Various kinds of public service facilities will have to be the subject to the floating construction.

  • Nowadays, the condition of overcrowded cities has raised a question which is insufficient land in cities, and has gotten worse because of the influx of the population continuously. It has rapidly constructed a skyscraper increasingly that the solution to secure a living space against these overcrowded cities until 2000, but these are already positioning itself as one of the new type of residence. The necessity of skyscraper as facilities of residence inside cities has be available both a solution for overcrowded cities and a meaning for a symbol of its represented a landmark. However, constructing skyscrapers indiscreetly can not guarantee dweller's life environment, and it contains risks unless design and facilities criteria are provided. Now, a skyscraper as a new substitute constituting a living space in the future for overcrowded cities deals with a systematic correlation between a city and construction. Therefore the aim of this study were to indicate a method for improvement of dweller's life environment at skyscraper through establishing a point of reference to inculcate them for a sustainable skyscraper from now on.
