A Study on Salt Damage Pollution Forecasting by Measuring Leakage Current

  • Faults due to salt damage prevent the provision of stable power supply because they affect large areas and require much time and man power for recovery. Korea, three sides of which are surrounded by sea, is especially exposed to the impact of sea winds and typhoons. Therefore, salt damage to power facilities is one of the greatest problems of Korea's power system. To prevent salt damage pollution of insulators, the salt damage deposit on the insulators is regularly measured, and the insulators are washed when their salt damage deposits are expected to reach a critical level. When salt is detected on the insulators, however, errors are likely to occur according to different workers and environments. Therefore, a leakage current measurement method was proposed in this study to check the salt damage pollution level and reduce these errors.

Effect of sea tangle extract on the quality characteristics of reduced-salt, low-fat sausages using pre-rigor muscle during refrigerated storage

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate quality characteristics of reduced-salt, low-fat pork sausage (PS) using pre-rigor muscle and sea tangle extract (STE) to reduce salt level of sausages during refrigerated storage. Methods: Pork ham was prepared with pre-rigor and post-rigor muscle from the local market. Sausages using post-rigor muscle were manufactured with the 1.5% of salt content, and samples with pre-rigor muscle were processed by different salt concentrations (0.8%). Accordingly, PSs were prepared in 4 treatments (REF, PS with 1.5% of salt using post-rigor muscle; CTL, PS with 0.8% of salt using pre-rigor muscle; TRT1, PS with 0.8% of salt and 5% of STE using pre-rigor muscle; TRT2, PS with 0.8% of salt and 10% of STE using pre-rigor muscle). For the evaluation of quality characteristics and shelf-life of reduced-salt PS, pH and color values, cooking loss (%), expressible moisture (%), textural properties, lipid oxidation (thiobarbituric reactive substances), protein denaturation (volatile basic nitrogen), and microbiological analysis (total plate counts and Enterobacteriaceae counts) were determined. Results: The pH and temperature of pre-rigor raw pork ham were higher than those of post-rigor pork ham. Hardness of TRT2 was higher than that of REF or CTL. TRT2 had higher gumminess and chewiness than CTL. TRT1 and TRT2 had lower volatile basic nitrogen than CTL. Total plate counts of TRT2 were lower than those of CTL. Expressible moisture values of TRT1 and TRT2 were similar to those of REF. The addition of STE into PS improved functional properties and shelf-life of PS. Conclusion: Reduced-salt PS containing pre-rigor muscle and STE had similar functional properties to those of regular-salt ones, while containing approximately 47% less salt compared to regular-salt level.

영양염제거에서 해수 및 해수염에 관한 비교연구 (A Comparative Study on the Use of Seawater and Sea Salt in Nutrient Elimination)

  • 부영양화를 일으키는 대표적인 영양물질인 질소와 인을 제거하기 위하여 많은 연구들이 진행되어오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 질소와 인을 제거하기 위하여 해수 및 해수염에 존재하는 마그네슘과 칼슘을 사용하여 스트루바이트와 수산화인회석을 만들어 침전을 시켰다. 실험의 목적은 해수와 해수염을 사용하여 pH와 농도의 변화에 따른 영양염의 제거율을 비교평가 하였다. 하수의 실험조건에서 해수를 사용한 결과 인의 제거율은 90 %, 질소의 제거율은 50 %로 나타났다. 또한 pH 9, 질소와 인의 농도 10 mM, ${Mg/PO_4}^{3-}$, ${NH_4}^+$의 비율 2의 조건에서 해수염을 사용하여 실험한 결과 질소의 제거율은 90 %, 인의 제거율은 70 %로 나타났다. 상대적으로 인의 제거율이 높은 이유는 해수를 사용한 경우 질소와 인의 몰 농도의 차이에서 비롯되었으며, 해수염을 사용한 경우 해수에 포함된 칼슘이 인과 반응하여 수산화인회석으로 침전 제거되었다고 할 수 있다. 수중의 질소와 인을 제거를 위하여 해수와 해수염을 사용한 결과 높은 제거율을 나타내었다.

Evaluation of salt level and rigor status on the physicochemical and textural properties of low-fat pork sausages added with sea tangle extract using rapidly chilled pre-rigor pork ham

  • Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the quality characteristics of pork sausage (PS) with sea tangle extract (STE) and rapid chilled pre-rigor muscle (RCPM) for the development of reduced-salt low-fat sausage. Methods: Pre- and post-rigor pork ham muscles were prepared to process PSs. Positive control (reference, REF) using post-rigor muscle were manufactured at a regular-salt level of 1.5%. Fresh and rapid-chilled pre-rigor muscle (FPM and RCPM) were used to manufacture reduced-salt sausages with 0.8% salt. Reduced-salt PSs were prepared with four treatments: FT1 (FPM alone), FT2 (FPM with 5% STE), RT1 (RCPM alone), and RT2 (RCPM with 5% STE). The physicochemical and textural properties of the sausages with reduced-salt levels and RCPM combination were measured to determine if the characteristics of RCPM were similar to those with FPM. Results: The pH values of PS with FPM and RCPM were higher than those of REF with post-rigor muscle. Color values (L*, a*, b*) were not affected by different rigor-states and salt addition level. Textural properties of reduced-salt PSs were similar to those of REF due to the improved functionalities of pre-rigor muscle. RT2 had lower expressible moisture (%) than other treatments with post-rigor muscle and RCPM except for RT1. Conclusion: The addition of STE and RCPM to reduced-salt PS increased the water-holding capacity, which was lower than those of PS with STE using RCPM but similar to those of regular-salt sausage.

커피 오일을 코팅한 천일염의 제조 및 저장 중 품질특성 (Manufacture of Sea Salt Coated with Coffee Oil and Quality Characteristics by Storage Period)

  • 커피 오일을 코팅한 천일염을 제조한 후 실온에서 5개월 동안 저장하면서 품질특성을 측정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 천일염은 모두 3년 숙성된 것으로 $105^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 건조시킨 소금으로 3가지 제품 중 A 제품은 천일염 100 g+커피 오일 8 g, B 제품은 천일염 100 g+커피 오일 16 g, C 제품은 천일염 100 g+커피 오일 8 g+패각 가루 0.3 g을 첨가하여 제조하였다. 커피 오일은 총 지방 함량을 측정하였고, 커피 천일염 제조 직후와 5개월 동안 매 1개월마다 커피 천일염의 수분, 회분, 색도, 향기성분, 과산화물가, 산가, 커피에 적용한 관능평가를 측정하였으며 무기질 함량은 1회 측정하였다. 커피 천일염의 수분 함량은 2~3% 수준으로 나타났으며 회분 함량은 81~83%로 나타났고, 저장기간에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 수분 함량이 가장 높은 것은 B 제품이었고, 회분 함량이 가장 높은 것은 C 제품으로 나타났다. 무기질 중 칼슘 함량은 C 제품이 가장 높게 나타났으며 철분은 A와 C 제품에서 나타났다. 커피 천일염 제조초기에 비해 저장기간이 길어짐에 따라 명도, 적색도, 황색도 모두 감소되는 경향을 보였으며, A와 C 제품에 비해 B 제품의 적색도가 높게 유지됨을 알 수 있었다. 과산화물가는 B 제품이 저장 전 기간을 통하여 높게 나타났으며, A 제품이 가장 낮게 나타났다. 산가는 2개월까지 모두 서서히 상승하다가 2개월 이후에는 B 제품이 다른 제품보다 급격하게 상승하였으며, 5개월까지 A와 C 제품이 가장 낮게 나타났다. 관능평가에서 A와 C 제품은 4개월까지 품질이 유지된 반면 B 제품은 3개월까지 품질유지기간으로 나타났다. 전 기간을 통하여 미생물은 발견되지 않았다. 본 연구 결과로 볼 때 세 가지 종류 중 A 제품이 상품화에 가장 적절한 것으로 나타났다.

오징어(Todarodes paxificus) 식해의 제조시 발효 온도 및 염도의 최적화 공정 개발 (Optimal Processing Conditions of Fermentation Temperature and Sea Salt Concentration for Preparing Squid Todarodes paxificus Sikhae)

  • Squid Sikhae is traditional salt-fermented food in Korea. We evaluated the standardization of optimal processing conditions for desirable quality-controlled squid Sikhae using analyses of physiochemical properties, microbiological species, and organoleptic tests. Among several squid Sikhae preparation processes, the optimal fermentation temperature sun-dried sea salt concentration, and fermentation period for squid Sikhae of acceptable quality were $10^{\circ}C$, 4%, and 6 days, respectively. Amino-N and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) contents of the acceptable quality squid Sikhae were 162.51 mg/100 g and 15.25 mg/100 g, respectively.

높이에 따른 비래염분량의 감소 특성 (Characteristics on the distribution of salinity of airborne sea salt by height)

  • For concrete structures immersed in seawater, the concentration of chloride used to estimate the chloride diffusion coefficient can be defined as the seawater chloride concentration. However, for seashore concrete structures which are not coming into direct contact with seawater, establishing the interface concentration of chloride becomes delicate. In addition, concrete structures are greatly affected by salt attack primarily due to airborne sea salt like it can be seen through the corrosion of rebar. This study intends to investigate characteristics on the salinity of airborne sea salt by height. Salinity measurement devices were installed at height of 2, 10 and 19m on the seashore water tower located in the area of Samchuk in the Eastern coast. Analysis results of the decrease of salinity with respect to the height above the ground at a distance of 30m from the seashore showed that the reduction reached about 40$\%$ at a height of 10m and 60$\%$ at 20m.

분리막을 이용한 천일염내 불순물 및 미세플라스틱 제거에 관한 연구 (Removal of Harmful Impurities Including Microplastics in Sun-Dried Sea Salt by Membrane Technology)

  • 본 연구에서는 분리막을 이용하여 천일염내 미세플라스틱을 비롯한 불순물을 제거하는 분리막 공정 설계를 위한 연구이다. 천일염 염전에 적합한 분리막 재질, 공경 사이즈, 모듈을 선정하여 다양한 조건에서 실험을 진행하였다. 선정된 200 kDa, 4 kDa 한외여과막 그리고 3 kDa 나노여과막을 선정하였고, 실험은 실험실과 실제 염전에 파일롯 플랜트를 건설하여 각각 실험하였다. 천일염내 불순물은 대부분 0.1 ㎛ 이상의 크기를 가졌고 크기 분포는 0.1 ㎛에서 1 ㎛ 사이 입자가 가장 많은 부분을 차지하였다. 그리고 성분 분석결과 불순물 내에 7종류 이상의 다양한 미세플라스틱이 검출되었다. 분리막 공정 이후 여과된 염전수 분석한 결과 미세플라스틱을 포함한 불순물이 검출되지 않았고 기존의 천일염과 분리막 여과수로 제작한 천일염의 성분 비교해본 결과 천일염 성분의 변화 없이 불순물만 효과적으로 제거됨을 확인하였다.

염전 병행 태양광 발전의 실증과 시뮬레이션 (Salt Farm Parallel Solar Power System:Field tests and Simulations)

  • In this research, the concept of a salt farm parallel solar power system, which produce salt and electricity at the same site, is proposed for the first time in the world. The concept is that large waterproof plates made by interconnected solar modules are installed at the bottom of the salt farm. The pilot system was successfully installed at a sea shore, and verified its feasibility as a solar power plant. For deeper understanding, simulations for power prediction of the system were carried out and compared with the field test results. The power generation of the salt farm parallel system is comparable to conventional solar power plants. The cooling effect by sea water contributes more to the increase in the crystalline silicon photovoltaic module performance than the absorption loss due to sea water by maintaining certain height above the module.

  • A general bentonite mate waterproofing material applied salt pollution without particular way(it is a land reclaimed from a sea(or near by sea). Analysis showed that it(general bentonite mate) has a little resistant salt pollution and a little watertightness. There are a lot of problem before completed structure because of salt pollution. So that, they have to a sum of money to repair works. Also, to repaired a part leak water again and again. because it doesn't match for salt pollution. So, I am going to study about a bentonite mate waterproofing material in salt pollution and it will be within the range of possibility to underground structure under the salt pollution. Also, I suggest waterproofing method in salt pollution about workability, stability, economy and etc.
