영동 지역에서 강설 특성 관측 및 이해 (Observation and Understanding of Snowfall Characteristics in the Yeongdong Region)

  • Yeongdong has frequently suffered from severe snowstorms, which generally give rise to societal and economic damages to the region in winter. In order to understand its mechanism, there has been a long-term measurement campaign, based on the rawinsonde measurements for every snowfall event at Gangneung since 2014. The previous observations showed that a typical heavy snowfall is generally accompanied with northerly or northeasterly flow below the snow clouds, generated by cold air outbreak over the relatively warmer East Sea. An intensive and multi-institutional measurement campaign has been launched in 2019 mainly in collaboration with Gangwon Regional Office of Meteorology and National Institute of Meteorological Studies of Korean Meteorological Administration, with a special emphasis on winter snowfall and spring windstorm altogether. The experiment spanned largely from February to April with comprehensive measurements of frequent rawinsonde measurements at a super site (Gangneung) with continuous remote sensings of wind profiler, microwave radiometers and weather radar etc. Additional measurements were added to the campaign, such as aircraft dropsonde measurements and shipboard rawinsonde soundings. One of the fruitful outcomes is, so far, to identify a couple of cold air damming occurrences, featuring lowest temperature below 1 km, which hamper the convergence zone and snow clouds from penetrating inland, and eventually make it harder to forecast snowfall in terms of its location and timing. This kind of comprehensive observation campaign with continuous remote sensings and intensive additional measurement platforms should be conducted to understand various orographic precipitation in the complex terrain like Yeongdong.

  • 국제해사기구의 연료유 황 함유량 제한 등, 세계적으로 강화되고 있는 환경규제로 LNG를 선박 연료로 사용하는 연구 및 사업이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기본설계 되어 있는 부유식 벙커링 터미널(FLBT, Floating LNG bunkering terminal)을 대상으로, STS LNG 하역 작업을 위해 접안 하는 과정을 수치 시뮬레이션으로 평가하였다. 수치해석에서는 예인선이 대상선박을 밀 경우 이를 가상의 펜더로 가정하였으며, 당길 때는 HMPE 로프 특성을 적용하였다. 해석에는 파랑, 조류, 바람 1년 재현 확률의 해상조건을 적용하였다. 수치모델은 선행 모형시험 결과로부터 조정되어 정확한 결과를 얻을 수 있도록 하였다. 해석 결과 LNG선은 대부분의 1년 환경조건에서 안전한 접안이 가능하였다. 파랑 방향에 따라 안정성의 차이가 큼으로 FLBT의 Heading control 기능을 적용하여 횡파를 피한다면 더욱 안정적인 운용이 가능할 것이다.

남자 대학생의 도박 경험에 관한 질적 연구 - 스포츠토토를 중심으로 - (Qualitative Research on Gambling Experience of Male College Students -Focused on Sports Toto-)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 남자 대학생들의 스포츠토토 도박을 통해 겪게 되는 경험과 그들이 당면하고 있는 문제를 파악하여 남자 대학생 도박중독의 예방 및 회복 프로그램에 기초자료를 제공하고자 시도하였다. 본연구의 참여자들은 8명의 남자 대학생으로 심층 인터뷰 한 자료를 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법에 따라 분석하였다. 연구결과 경험의 범주는 4개로 바다로 달려가는 바람처럼, 회한으로 흐르는 눈물, 수면 아래로 잠긴 삶, 꿈을 꾸는 날엔 으로 도출되었다. 본 연구를 통해 스포츠토토는 접근성이 용이하고 흥미 유발적인 요소가 많지만, 일반 도박자들과 마찬가지로 자기 통제력을 상실한 채 중독에 빠질 위험이 크다는 것이 드러났다. 그렇지만 도박 기간이 짧은 대학생이 경제적 자금 조달의 한계점으로 현실을 자각할 경우 도박중독 위험으로부터 비교적 빠르게 격리될 수 있다고 본다. 따라서 스포츠를 좋아하는 대학생들을 위한 도박 예방교육과 상담이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

제한적인 기상자료 조건에서의 잠재증발산량 추정을 위한 FAO56 Penman-Monteith 방법의 적용성 분석 - 안동댐 유역을 사례로 - (Applicability Analysis of FAO56 Penman-Monteith Methodology for Estimating Potential Evapotranspiration in Andong Dam Watershed Using Limited Meteorological Data)

  • This study is conducted to estimate potential evapotranspiration of 10 weather observing systems in Andong Dam watershed with FAO56 Penman-Monteith (FAO56 PM) methodology using the meteorological data from 2013 to 2014. Also, assuming that there is no solar radiation data, humidity data or wind speed data, the potential evapotranspiration was estimated by FAO56 PM and the results were evaluated to discuss whether the methodology is applicable when meteorological dataset is not available. Then, the potential evapotranspiration was estimated with Hargreaves method and compared with the potential evapotranspiration estimated by FAO56 PM only with the temperature dataset. As to compare the potential evapotranspiration estimated from the complete meteorological dataset and that estimated from limited dataset, statistical analysis was performed using the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), the Mean Bias Error (MBE), the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and the coefficient of determination ($R^2$). Also the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method was performed to conduct spatial analysis. From the result, even when the meteorological data is limited, FAO56 PM showed relatively high accuracy in calculating potential evapotranspiration by estimating the meteorological data.

자기조직화지도를 이용한 서울 폭염사례 분류 연구 (Classification of Heat Wave Events in Seoul Using Self-Organizing Map)

  • The characteristics of heat wave events in Seoul are analyzed using weather station data from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) ERA-Interim reanalysis data from 1979 to 2016. Heat waves are defined as events in the upper 10th percentile of the daily maximum temperatures. The associated synoptic weather patterns are then classified into six clusters through Self-Organizing Map (SOM) analysis for sea-level pressure anomalies in East Asia. Cluster 1 shows an anti-cyclonic circulation and weak troughs in southeast and west of Korea, respectively. This synoptic pattern leads to southeasterly winds that advect warm and moist air to the Korean Peninsula. Both clusters 2 and 3 are associated with southerly winds formed by an anti-cyclonic circulation over the east of Korea and cyclonic circulation over the west of Korea. Cluster 4 shows a stagnant weather pattern with weak winds and strong insolation. Clusters 5 and 6 are associated with F?hn wind resulting from an anti-cyclonic circulation in the north of the Korean Peninsula. In terms of long-term variations, event frequencies of clusters 4 and 5 show increasing and decreasing trends, respectively. However, other clusters do not show any long-term trends, indicating that the mechanisms that drive heat wave events in Seoul have remained constant over the last four decades.

이내비게이션을 활용한 해양환경관측 및 빅데이터 분석방안 (Methodology on e-Navigation-Assisted Ocean Monitoring and Big Data Analysis)

  • 본 연구에서는 이내비게이션 시스템이 장착된 연안 및 국제여객선을 활용하여 효율적으로 해양환경관측을 실시하고 관측된 해양 환경 빅데이터를 분석할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 먼저, 이내비게이션 시스템과 운영 개념을 소개하고, 우리나라 연안의 해양환경모니터링 현황을 개괄한 후, 기존 관측망의 단점을 보완하고 장점을 강화할 수 있도록 이내비게이션을 활용한 해양환경모니터링 관측방법과 관측요소(기상, 물성, 유속 및 수심)를 제안하였다. 또한, 이내비게이션 시스템이 장착된 여객선에서 관측한 자료를 실시간으로 분석하는 시공간 혼합효과모형, 앙상블기법 및 무요소기법과 같은 해양빅데이터 분석 기법을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 연안 선박과 소형어선에 중점을 둔 한국형 이내비게이션 추진에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

견인되는 선박의 조종성능 개선에 관한 연구 : 시스템 모델링 (A study on maneuvering performance improvement of a towed vessel without a power propulsion system: system modeling)

  • In this study, a motion control problem for the vessels towed by tugboats or towing ships on the sea is considered. The towed vessel looks like the barge ship, which is used for many purposes. In these vessels, basically, the power propulsion system is not installed but just towed by a towing vessel such as tugboats with ropes and wires. It means that the motions of towed vessel are basically dependent on the tracking route of towing boat. Therefore, in some cases, undesirable and unpredictable motions may be made by environmental factors such as wave, wind attack and so on. As a result, a collision accident with others may occur during maneuvering situation. Based on these facts, the authors try to encourage the steering performance of the towed vessel by using controllable rudders without any propulsion system. In this study, especially, a controllable vessel with three rudders is considered, and a mathematical model is induced for the future study. The model is described as surge, sway motion and inertia moment by following the general representation method for the surface ship.

대규모 기후인자와 관련된 우리나라 봄철 산불위험도 변동 (Spring Forest-Fire Variability over Korea Associated with Large-Scale Climate Factors)

  • This study investigated the variability of spring (March-May) forest fire risk in Korea for the period 1991~2017 and analyzed its relationship with large-scale climate factors. The Forest Weather Index (FWI) representing the meteorological risk for forest fire occurrences calculated based on observational data and its relationship with large-scale climate factors were analyzed. We performed the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis on the spring FWI. The leading EOF mode of FWI accounting for about 70% of total variability was found to be highly correlated with total number of forest fire occurrences in Korea. The high FWI, forest fire occurrence risk, in Korea, is associated with warmer atmosphere temperature in midwest Eurasia-China-Korea peninsula, cyclonic circulation anomaly in northeastern China-Korea peninsula-northwest pacific, westerly wind anomaly in central China-Korea peninsula, and low humidity in Korea. These are further related with warmer sea surface temperature and enhanced outgoing longwave radiation over Western Pacific, which represents a typical condition for a La $Ni\tilde{n}a$ episode. This suggests that large-scale climate factors over East Asia and ENSO could have a significant influence on the occurrence of spring forest fires in Korea.

기상 및 토양정보가 고랭지배추 단수예측에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Highland Weather and Soil Information on the Prediction of Chinese Cabbage Weight)

  • Highland farming is agriculture that takes place 400 m above sea level and typically involves both low temperatures and long sunshine hours. Most highland Chinese cabbages are harvested in the Gangwon province. The Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) has been deployed to observe Chinese cabbages growth because of the lack of installed weather stations in the highlands. Five representative Chinese cabbage cultivation spots were selected for USN and meteorological data collection between 2015 and 2017. The purpose of this study is to develop a weight prediction model for Chinese cabbages using the meteorological and growth data that were collected one week prior. Both a regression and random forest model were considered for this study, with the regression assumptions being satisfied. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) was used to evaluate the predictive performance of the models. The variables influencing the weight of cabbage were the number of cabbage leaves, wind speed, precipitation and soil electrical conductivity in the regression model. In the random forest model, cabbage width, the number of cabbage leaves, soil temperature, precipitation, temperature, soil moisture at a depth of 30 cm, cabbage leaf width, soil electrical conductivity, humidity, and cabbage leaf length were screened. The RMSE of the random forest model was 265.478, a value that was relatively lower than that of the regression model (404.493); this is because the random forest model could explain nonlinearity.

안전과 효율을 고려한 연안 내 선박의 최적 항로 계획 (Optimal Ship Route Planning in Coastal Sea Considering Safety and Efficiency)

  • 선박의 최적 항로 계획은 주어진 해양 환경에서 운항 시간 혹은 연료 소모량을 최소로 하는 항로 계획이다. 대양을 운항하는 선박의 최적 항로에 관한 기존 연구와 다르게, 본 연구에서는 연안에서 좌초 위험을 회피하는 선박의 항로 계획을 위한 최적화 방법을 제안하였다. Dijkstra 알고리즘을 사용하여 항로의 변경 지점을 찾고, 최적화 설계 변수를 엔진 회전수로 설정하여 연료 소모량이 최소가 되도록 최적화를 수행하였다. 엔진 회전수를 설정하는 방법은 출발지에서 도착지까지 고정 회전수로 설정하는 방법과 구간을 나누어 구간별 고정 회전수를 설정하는 방법을 사용하였다. 항로 탐색을 위해 고려한 해양 환경 요소는 바람, 파고, 조류이며 좌초 위험을 계산하기 위해 수심 정보를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 방법을 목포와 제주를 오가는 선박을 대상으로 적용하여 최적의 항로를 결정하였으며, 최적 항로를 기존에 항해했던 항로와 비교하여 연료 소모량이 절감된 것을 확인하였다.
