Analysis on the Present Support Conditions Based on Screening and Needs of Child Care and Education Teachers for Children with Language Developmental Delayed (보육교사의 언어발달지연 유아 선별에 따른 지원 실태와 요구 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the screening and its validation of children with language developmental delay in child care and education centers, the response of parents with children with language developmental delay and the assistance needs of child care and education teachers for those children. Teacher interview with semi-structural method, transcription and content analysis method were used. The subjects in this study were 13 teachers and 30 infants and toddlers with language developmental delay in 10 child care and education centers in Seoul. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the child care and education teachers screened children with language developmental delay in their classes based on their verbal characteristics and maladjusted behavior. Their screenings were turned out correct. Second, as for the response of parents, the parents who had children with language developmental delay were indifferent, were aware of the fact in advance or asked the teachers for counseling on their children's language developmental delay. Third, the teachers couldn't provide the appropriate supports for the children in needs. Fourth, regarding the assistance needs of the child care and education teachers, they called for assistance from specialists and professional institutions, and wanted to receive education on language development. Besides, they asked for relevant supporting materials and screening criteria, and considered it necessary to reduce the ratio of teacher to children.

Development and Evaluation of Comprehensive Health Care Program for Infectious Disease Management in Child Care Centers by Doctor of Korean Medicine (보육시설 아동의 감염성 질환 예방 관리를 위한 한의사 주치의 프로그램 개발 및 평가)

  • Objectives: The present study was carried out to develop and evaluate comprehensive health care program to prevent infectious disease and promote health in child-care centers by Doctor of Korean medicine. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design study was conducted on 568 children and 85 child care teacher at 12 child care facilities for 12 weeks from July to October 2012. The program was consist of management, education, screening under concepts of traditional preventive medicine, Yangsaeng and Chimibyeong. Children's medical utilization due to infectious disease and attendance means functional status were measured by reports from parents. The Difference in difference(DID) estimator was applied data analysis, and added Zero-inflated negative binomial regression model. Also, attitudes on the infection of teacher was measured and analyzed through t-test. Results: After the intervention, the total medical utilization due to infectious disease decreased, but not significantly. Total absence, early leave and lateness decreased significantly. But, Attitude on the infection of child care teacher was not changed. The parent's satisfaction showed positive overall. Conclusions: The intervention program may be effective in preventing infectious disease and managing health in child-care center partially. To measure long-term effect, long-term study improved is requested.

A Recognition Study of how Child Care Teachers Implicate National Competency Standards (국가직무능력표준(NCS)에 대한 보육교사의 인식 연구)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the ways in which childcare teachers understand and implicate the standards of national competency by searching for and analyzing the awareness of it. Methods: For this, the survey was conducted on 264 child care teachers working in daycare centers. The screening tool was constructed based on the content provided in the child care field of the NCS, and the questionnaire items were developed by referring to previous research. Results: Recognition of the child care teacher's awareness of the NCS was very low. The activity of child care teachers for the category of capability proposed by the NCS showed significant differences depending on work experience. The degree of awareness of child care teachers for the category of capability proposed by the NCS showed significant differences depending on work experience. The difference between the activity of child care teachers and the degree of awareness of child care teachers for the category of capability proposed by the NCS showed significant differences. Conclusion: In the future, it is necessary for the NCS to be constantly supplemented and ensure that the capability to perform practical functions is fulfilled in daycare centers.
