In a future society where cutting-edge science technology such as artificial intelligence becomes commonplace, the demand for talented people with basic knowledge of mathematics and science is expected to increase continuously, and the educational infrastructure suitable for the characteristics of future generations is still insufficient. In particular, in the case of students taking convergence courses including practical training, there was a problem in communication with the instructor. In this study, we looked at the current status of distance learning at domestic universities that came suddenly due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. In addition, a case study of the use of technology was conducted to facilitate the interaction between instructors and learners through case analysis of distance classes in convergence subjects. Therefore, this study aims to introduce the case of developing lecture contents for smooth convergence education in a non-face-to-face educational environment targeting the developed AI convergence courses and applying them to the education of enrolled students.

In order to prepare for the future warfare environment, which requires a faster operational tempo, it is necessary to utilize the fourth industrial revolution technology in the field of military operations. This study propose a methodology, 'machine learning based dynamic targeting', which can contribute to reduce required man-hour for dynamic targeting. Specifically, a decision tree algorithm is considered to apply to dynamic targeting process. The algorithm learns target prioritization patterns from JIPTL(Joint Integrated Prioritized Target List) which is the result of the deliberate targeting, and then learned algorithm rapidly(almost real-time) determines priorities for new targets that occur during ATO(Air Tasking Order) execution. An experiment is performed with artificially generated data to demonstrate the applicability of the methodology.

According to the online learning environment, learning activities using mobile technology have emerged as a major concern. The features of mobile technology show potential supporting the emergence of learners' agencies in science education. In this study, 22 research literature on mobile activities in science teaching and learning published in Korea from 2011 to April 2020 were selected. First, the framework of Suarez et al. (2018) was revised and the types of mobile activities were categorized and investigated. Second, the emergence of agencies was examined in the context of science teaching and learning. And also, the relevance of mobile activity types ('Access to content', 'Data collection', 'Peer-to-peer communication', 'Contextual support') to support learners' agency dimension ('goals', 'content', 'action', 'strategy', 'reflection', 'monitoring') was analyzed. The first analysis show that science teaching and learning through mobile activities are changing from traditional to student-centered. Through these activities, students become more involved in learning and get the opportunity to become agents of learning. As a result of the second analysis, it has been confirmed that the emergence of learners' agencies has been supported and strengthened through mobile activities. Whereas, it needs to look upon the relationship between learners' agency and mobile activities in the overall context of science class. This consideration led to implications for the use of mobile technology in future science education and the transition to student-centered education.
Art education in design has repeatedly stressed the importance of developing creativity. In the digital period, however, which shows rapid change in both forms and contents, it needs to be equipped with more flexible and systematic ways of approaching to the creativity development, especially involved with cultural diversity of the digital world. This paper primarily proposes a maximally efficient, productive creativity learning program in which the integration of expressive media and communication generates a comprehensive network of communicative information in the development of digital technologies, which, consequently, brings forth valuable cultural contents of art. The amalgamation of Won (2006)'s Prism Effect, with distinctive three devices, and the facilitator factors, with two different facilitators such as self-controlled and controlled plays, would function as a catalyst for cultural diversity in the digital forms and contents of art. And this will, consequently, result in producing a number of practices that can be classified and assorted for a later performance. This paper thus suggests a roadmap of how to develop the creativity learning program in which two categories of facilitators based on three thinking devices function to classify four activities. In addition, selected activities are shaped as a creativity learning program by generating learning practices with the formalizing instructional strategy that fit into a specialized educational environment and learners. The samples of loaming practice design show guidelines for practice and the results of learning activity. Therefore, the eventual goal of this paper would be to establish a creativity learning program that constitutes a highly systematized and modularized database to maximize the efficiency and productivity of the creativity development.
The existing model for sentiment analysis of product reviews learned from past data and new data was labeled based on training. But new data was never used by the existing system for making a decision. The proposed Aspect-based multi-agent Deep Reinforcement learning Sentiment Analysis (ADRSA) model learned from its very first data without the help of any training dataset and labeled a sentence with aspect category and sentiment polarity. It keeps on learning from the new data and updates its knowledge for improving its intelligence. The decision of the proposed system changed over time based on the new data. So, the accuracy of the sentiment analysis using deep reinforcement learning was improved over supervised learning and unsupervised learning methods. Hence, the sentiments of premium customers on a particular site can be explored to other customers effectively. A dynamic environment with a strong knowledge base can help the system to remember the sentences and usage State Action Reward State Action (SARSA) algorithm with Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model improved the performance of the proposed system in terms of accuracy when compared to the state of art methods.
A reliable automatic passenger counting (APC) system is a key point in transportation related to the efficient scheduling and management of transport routes. In this study, we introduce a lightweight head detection network using deep learning applicable to an embedded system. Currently, object detection algorithms using deep learning have been found to be successful. However, these algorithms essentially need a graphics processing unit (GPU) to make them performable in real-time. So, we modify a Tiny-YOLOv3 network using certain techniques to speed up the proposed network and to make it more accurate in a non-GPU environment. Finally, we introduce an APC system, which is performable in real-time on embedded systems, using the proposed head detection algorithm. We implement and test the proposed APC system on a Samsung ARTIK 710 board. The experimental results on three public head datasets reflect the detection accuracy and efficiency of the proposed head detection network against Tiny-YOLOv3. Moreover, to test the proposed APC system, we measured the accuracy and recognition speed by repeating 50 instances of entering and 50 instances of exiting. These experimental results showed 99% accuracy and a 0.041-second recognition speed despite the fact that only the CPU was used.
This study was designed to investigate the relationship between middle school students' smart media competency and online learning outcomes. The context of this study was on online inquiry-based mathematics and science learning environment, and four-hundred and fifty-five (455) 7th to 9th grade students in Korea participated in this research. To assess students' smart device competency, Smart Media Literacy Quotient (SMLQ) which consisted of 18 items regarding the operation ability of smart media and its application (14 items) and positive beliefs of smart media (4 items) was administered to each student. The findings of this study first showed that students' smart media literacy varied according to their characteristics such as gender, grade, class (subject), and socio-economic status. Female students' scores were higher in overall smart media literacy operation and learning ability of smart media than male students. 7th grade middle school students represented lower smart media literacy scores, compared to 8th and 9th graders. Also, minority students were significantly lower in smart media literacy, operation and learning ability of smart media, and positive belief of smart media than the non-minority students. Second, overall smart media literacy and operation and learning ability of smart media varied among high, medium, and low score achievers in inquiry tasks. Low scored students in inquiry tasks were significantly lower in overall smart media literacy and operation and learning ability of smart media than medium scored students. Lastly, smart media literacy also varied by students' dropout/completion. Students who dropped out reported significantly lower scores in overall smart media literacy, operation and learning ability of smart media, and positive belief of smart media.
The international environmental activity and environmental education began in 1970's. Environmental education in Korea was emphasized since the Forth National Curriculum. The Environmental Curriculum was regarded as one of the most important part in the Sixth National Curriculum in Korea. Environment-related reference texts of Elementary school were already developed. Soon, 'Environment' of middle school and 'Environmental Science' of high school will be developed. The purpose of this study were to analyse environment-related texts in the Fifth National Curriculum and to measure how much environmental education has achieved. As a environmental text for regular class, selected the environmental part in 'Science Part 1' and as environment-related reference text, 'Survival and Environment'. The environmental part of 'Science Part 1' was unit [Life and Environment]. According to the analysis of objectives, most of unit objectives were not stated in a detailed and precise manner. When the goals of environmental education were divided into four fields as follows, knowledge and information, skill, thinking and attitude, behavior and participation, unit objectives were mostly emphasized on knowledge and information of environment, exactly 44.5% of unit objectives and 89.6% of subunit objectives. The degree of relationship between unit objectives and contents was low. All the Check up-problems were about knowledge and information of environment. Environment-related reference text, 'Survival and Environment' was the only reference text for high school students in Korea and was organized in the form of the regular curriculum text. It was developed in Korean Education Development, Center with support of Korean Environmental Ministry in 1990. According to the analysis of 'Survival and Environment', the objectives of units and subunits were less stressed on knowledge and information than those of unit [Life and Environment] in the environmental part of 'Science Part 1' On the other hand, they were a little more stressed on skill, thinking and attitude, behavior and participation. And fifteen of all the seventy subunit objectives were not related with contents. In organization, this text included Thinking problems, Experiments and Inquiries, Reading, Developed studies and Check up-problem etc. It was remarkable that Inquiries leaded to individual activities and Developed studies to group discussions or individual inquiries. And as Check-up problems were presented as a form of activities, students could achieve many various objectives at the same time by solving one problem. To measure the achievement of environmental education by questionnaire, 497 high school students in total were selected from five different schools. Scores in subtest 'behavior and participation' and subtest 'thinking and attitudes' were 13.19 and 18.18, respectively. Actually, most students had a positive thinkings and attitudes in their hearts about environmental problems, but many of them actually did not take actions to solve environmental problems and to protect environment. Scores in subtest 'knowledge and information' and subtest 'skill' were 10.76 and 10.81, respectively. The higher the score students got in 'knowledge and information', the higher the score in 'skill'. It implies that learning of skills is based on learning of knowledges and informations about environment has not always ensured positive thinkings and attitudes or active behaviors and participations to solve environmental problem.
In this study, the effects of grouping by extraversion and introversion in POE learning applied to elementary science class on students' achievement, the perception of learning environment and the attitude toward science instruction were investigated. Ninety-five 5th graders were assigned to the control group and the experimental groups, and taught about acid and base for 9 class hours. In the experimental groups, the homogeneous small group was composed of four introverts or four extroverts, and the heterogeneous small group was composed of two introverts and two extroverts. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the homogeneous group performed better than the control group in the application subtest of the achievement test. Significant difference in learning difficulty was found between the heterogeneous group and the control group. In the attitude toward science class, significant interaction effect was found between the instruction and the extraversion/introversion.

The article presents ARTMAP and Fuzzy BK-Product approach underwater obstacle avoidance for the Autonomous underwater Vehicles (AUV). The AUV moves an unstructured area of underwater and could be met with obstacles in its way. The AUVs are equipped with complex sensorial systems like camera, aquatic sonar system, and transducers. A Neural integrated Fuzzy BK-Product controller, which integrates Fuzzy logic representation of the human thinking procedure with the learning capabilities of neural-networks (ARTMAP), is developed for obstacle avoidance in the case of unstructured areas. In this paper, ARTMAP-Fuzzy BK-Product controller architecture comprises of two distinct elements, are 1) Fuzzy Logic Membership Function and 2) Feed-Forward ART component. Feed-Forward ART component is used to understanding the unstructured underwater environment and Fuzzy BK-Product interpolates the Fuzzy rule set and after the defuzzyfication, the output is used to take the decision for safety direction to go for avoiding the obstacle collision with the AUV. An on-line reinforcement learning method is introduced which adapts the performance of the fuzzy units continuously to any changes in the environment and make decision for the optimal path from source to destination.
