  • This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of benzobicyclon mixtures by using Remote-controlled aerial application (RCAA) to control annual and perennial weeds in rice paddy field. Eight annual weed species including Echinochloa crus-galli L. and three perennial weeds were dominated in the experimental field. Application of benzobicyclon mixtures using RCAA was highly effective to control both annual and perennial weed species. When compared with untreated control, no visual injuries were detected at single and double dosage of benzobicyclon mixtures. Finally, rice yield in the benzobicyclon mixtures was as much as that in the hand weeding. This study indicates that benzobicyclon mixtures using RCAA can be applied to control both annual and perennial weed species in rice paddy field.

  • The system for producing magnetic field constitutes an important component of magnetic refrigerator. Many researchers have directed significant effort to increase the magnetic field intensity, because the magnetocaloric effect at the Curie temperature increases with the power of 2/3 of the magnetic field. In this study, we report the simulation of the magnetic field intensity at polar axis of a Halbach cylinder (HC) by i) changing the length and thickness of the HC, ii) having with or without gap of the HC, and iii) surrounding the HC with a soft magnet shell, acting as a shielding. We simulated the field distribution of a HC with a finite size. Furthermore, the detailed numerical results of the magnetic field distribution and its dependence on shielding are presented in this study.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of magnetic field and gravitational field on fiber-reinforced thermoelastic medium with memory-dependent derivative. Three-phase-lag model of thermoelasticity (3PHL) is used to study the plane waves in a fiber-reinforced magneto-thermoelastic material with memory-dependent derivative. A gravitating magneto-thermoelastic two-dimensional substrate is influenced by both thermal shock and mechanical loads at the free surface. Analytical expressions of the considered variables are obtained by using Laplace-Fourier transforms technique with the eigenvalue approach technique. A numerical example is considered to illustrate graphically the effects of the magnetic field, gravitational field and two types of mechanical loads(continuous load and impact load).

  • For global electronic market, several market place standards are developing now. Though, a standard is different from others they are pursuing the same purpose of uniworld market. In this study, two standards(ebXML and UDDI) which are most strong enough to urge field engineers to consider the standards in making their products were focused. Additionally, the development priorities of ebXML which were viewed from field engineers were summarized. Finally, government actions required by field engineers to promote the development of global market place were summarized.

  • This study was performed on the dose distribution of various field size and the effect of penumbra shield in the telecobalt unit. The results obtained are as follows. 1. Errors of the light and ${\gamma}-ray$ field size was below the regulation as 0.52 percentage. 2. The coefficient of field area was increased with the larger field area, and this coefficient was showed the more difference in larger SSD. 3. The rectangular field areas, which were described by level of the same percentage depth does, were decreased with the more elongation factor. At the same elongation factor, the compensating factor was decreased with the larger field size. 4. The lead block or extension collimator was able to shield r-ray exposure of outside field size from 50 to 80 percentage. 5. On the matching adjacent fields, while the gap between beam edges are contacted, that overlapped beam edges indicated up to 140 percentage, and while the gap was 1 cm, it could be reduced to 90 Percentage. The lead-libocking on the overlapped area was more effective to lower dose, as 80 percentage in this case. 6. Percentage depth dose of various trimming field sizes were increased linearlly according to area 1 perimeter size, but the center split field size did not maintain linearlly.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the difference of semantic network about sedimentary environment between science gifted students and non-gifted students through field trip. The fifteen high school science gifted students and non-gifted students were participated in the field trip for this study. The geological field trip was performed in Chaseokgang, which suitable learning place for sedimentary environments. Data included field trip observation and students' inquiry activity reports. The inquiry activity reports were analyzed using the semantic network analysis method. The results of this study were as follows: First, the semantic network of science gifted students was larger and complex structures than that of the non-gifted students. Second, science gifted students were interpreted that changes of sedimentary environment was connected with the sorting and the roundness. On the other hand, semantic network of non-gifted students were become fragmented because they were not interpreted sedimentary environment related to scientific concepts.

  • This review is aimed at the understanding of learning in field-trips relating to education in outdoor activities. The review specifically concerns what studies have been undertaken by seeking evidence from research published between 1950 and 2004. The review indicates three common arguments on learning during field-trips. First, the learning in an informal learning environment based on first-hand experiences is most significant when it has meaning for the learner from field-trips. Second, learning aims and strategies in field-trips have evolved along with world-wide concerns towards the environment. Third, the experiences from field-trips can impact significantly on students' cognitive and affective learning. However, the research of field-trip experiences from outdoor activities has focused on learning outcomes far more than on the learning characteristics which facilitate students' learning. Therefore, further study is required, which can provide clear evidence on how such learning characteristics through field-trips can help studentsto successfully attain educational goals.

  • The present investigation is concerned with a study effect of magnetic field and non-homogenous on the elastic stresses in rotating orthotropic infinite circular cylinder. A certain boundary conditions closed form stress fields solutions are obtained for rotating orthotropic cylinder under initial magnetic field with constant thickness for three cases: (1) Solid cylinder, (2) Cylinder with a circular hole at the center, (3) Cylinder mounted on a circular rigid shaft. Analytical expressions for the components of the displacement and stress fields in different cases are obtained. The effect of rotation and magnetic field and non-homogeneity on the displacement and stress fields are studied. Numerical results are illustrated graphically for each case. The effects of rotating and magnetic field and non-homogeneity are discussed.

  • In Asian countries, paddy field is indispensable for our lives not only as a source of food but also ecosystem, hydrology, landscape, culture and global warming. In this sense it is necessary to get the detailed spatial distribution of paddy field in Asian region. Remote sensing seems to be the most appropriate tool to estimate paddy field. In this study, two Terra/ASTER images acquired on different date were used to get a map of paddy field with different planting. ASTER's 15-m resolution was found to be enough to be recognize individual paddy field . Paddies with different planting stages were divided into five types using their spectral patterns. As a result a map of paddies with different planting was obtained with tolerably high accuracy.
