The broiler industry in Korea has been gradually changing its structure of independent operation into integrated and coordinated production and marketing system. It was in 1960s when the broiler industry first tried the integrated effort, but never succeeded as it was expected since due mainly to growers' attitudes favorable for traditional operation and agribusiness' passive response on structure change. Until mid 1980s, however, a bit of partially integrated system had been evolved by several factor suppliers. Recent years have furthered its progress toward completely integrated pattern, the ultimate goal of broiler integration. It is true that the external factors including the GATT Negotiations through the Uruguay Round stimulated the people involved in the industry to find the way of making it competitive to survive in the open, liberalized world economic system rapidly emerging through the process of globalization. Once the industry realized the necessity of reducing the cost of production and improving the quality of it, the conclusion tended to come to the point of an entire structural alteration by means of integration rather than an improvement of a certain segment such as marketing. It is very obvious. therefore. that the movement toward the complete integration will speed up in a coming few years under the leadership of not only entrepreneurs but also producers group. According to a report. there were three almost complete integrators and thirteen partial integrators as of December, 1990, all of which eagerly directed toward the completely integrated system in due course . Among others as an advantage of integrated structure. the cost saving must be pointed out as the greatest one In a survey, it was estimated that the cost of dressed and ready-to-eat chicken could be lowered by 31.8 percent and 41.5 percent, respectively, over that to be under the independent, non-integrated system. As long as everybody concerned about the future of the industry in the open market mechanism realizes the importance of the structure change through an integration, the broiler sector of Korean agriculture shall be moving toward the direction of vertically and completely integrated structure in order to make it competitive, even to export, hopefully before 1995 or by the end of this century in any case.
A random study of 574 dairy farms in Gyeongnam area was designed to determine 1) management factors that may be associated with the occurrence of drug residues; 2) the dairy farmer's attitudes and knowledge about residues; 3) how these variables influence the occurrence of residues in dairy cattle. Management factors perceived as having the greatest influence on drug residues in milk were insufficient knowledge about withdrawal periods, errors due to hired help, insufficient identification and record of animals treated for mastitis, dry cow treatment for mastitis, and metritis treatment. Seventy-one percent of farms with residues problem used mixed own feeds compared with twenty-nine percent of farms with premedicated feeds. Factors significantly associated with the occurrence of residues were herd size, increased number of hired persons, increased frequency of use of mixed-own feeds, category of medicated feed, and producer's attitude toward the public health significance of residues. Our findings suggest that residue occurrence was mainly associated with errors due to hired help, insufficient knowledge about withdrawal periods, poor animal identification and records of treatment animals and use of medicated feeds. Any residue avodiance educational program needs to stress how to deal with these factors. This educational program should be directed to dairy farmers and employees, especially temporary employees. In addition, Dairy farmer's attitudes and knowledge about drug residues need to be improved. More evidence on the public healths significance of residues should be available to them. Because belife in importance of public healths concerns was related to successful residue avidance and because 81.3% of the dairy farmers with residue problem thought public healths concerns were less important than economic ones, it would be helpful to provide educational programs specifically directed to this issue. it may be useful to provide programs not only for the dairy farmers but also change of their concerns about on the public healths.

The purpose of this study is to suggest some strategies for integrated science. It also suggests educational strategies through worldview. The directions of most educational policy are based on the deficit model. It is assumed that learners are always lacking in knowledge, and as a result they do not understand properly. However, it is difficult for the public and students to change their attitudes because they do not feel much lacking. For example, the world view of climate change coexists with an optimistic mechanical worldview and an organic and entropy worldview. This study is characterized by the process of expanding awareness of living and fulfillment of knowledge rather than the existing deprivation model. Unconnected knowledge has problems in diversity. It is neither sustainable nor flexible. It is not about eliminating interdisciplinarity but about lowering it. We go into another area with your deep expertise, but we must have a purpose. As a result, not only problem solving but also dynamic feedback of mutual feedback between other domains increases the quality and quantity of knowledge.

In this study, the trend of research and practice of science education for students with special educational needs was discussed in consideration of the aim of science education. Since the 1980s 'science for all' has been suggested as an important goal of science education and it has been pursued in the National Curriculum of Korea with differentiated teaching and learning approach. The meaning of 'science for all' should be expanded to science education for all students including minorities. However, comparing to 'normal' students, there have been relatively little researches and practices for those who need special educational supports as to meet their special talents or as to meet their special mental or physical challenges. Especially, the efforts for handicapped students or students with special educational needs (SEN) have been deficient in comparison to that of talented or gifted students. In this study the authors introduced the history and procedures of a 'Science Fair of Hope' with SEN students as an example of practice of science education for all, and then described the change among pre-service science teachers' attitudes towards disability and inclusive education, so as to discuss the practice and significance of science education for all students including SEN students.

In this study, a block-base coding that could develop computing thinking was applied to Earth science teaching and learning to identify how the perception of computational thinking and scientific attitude was changed as part of creativity education. Based on the results of the study, the conclusions are as follows: First, an Earth science education program was developed using a block-based coding for elementary school students. The 12-hour program was designed for inquiry activities to encourage students to engage in various thinking by providing them with activity-oriented problems. Second, the Earth science education program using a block-based coding showed significant results in confidence in the use of a computer program, integrated learning with a computer, computational thinking, and problem-solving factors with computational thinking. Third, the Earth science education program using block-based coding showed significant differences in the categories of curiosity, criticism, cooperation, persistence, and creativity. It could be judged that it was effective for students in the process of questioning and trying to solve the problem themselves.
The diffusion strategies of wood culture were established using the analytic hierarchy process, to prepare a diffusion plan of wood culture and wood utilization in response to climate change due to global warming. 'Standardization of wood culture', 'Valuation of wood culture', and 'Habituation of wood culture' were set as three major implementation strategies and priorities were evaluated. As a result, it was analyzed in the following order: 'Development of systematic education programs for each age group for rational and efficient use of eco-friendly wood materials and development of wood education standard guidelines linked to the curriculum', 'Preparation of scientific basis data on human compatibility and eco-friendliness of wood to ensure the reliability of wood and wood products', and 'Establishment of monitoring and improvement plan through the designation as a model school'. Through this, it was determined that an educational environment, changes in public attitudes through publicity, and expanding opportunities to use wood and wood products were necessary for wood culture diffusion. The results of this study can be used as basic data to derive the diffusion strategies of wood culture and establish a roadmap and policy implementation strategy to revitalize wood culture.
The main aim of this study is to find out whether an elementary school's science-invention program for gifted pupils has an effect on their attitude towards science-engineering sector or related careers for their future. For hypothesis testing, a class for gifted pupils of 6th grade in D elementary school, J elementary school is chosen. The experiment was implemented 12 times during the period. Major findings were as follows. In career maturity, there weren't statistically meaningful differences found between experimental and controlled group as a result of invention program. This result showed that the invention program is not appropriate to promote the career maturity. However, there were still some evidence of change in their attitudes to science-engineering. Based on the result, an invention program which fails to improve career maturity should be amended.

The purpose of this study is to examine what effects the experiment class to stress discussion of small groups in scientific experiment class of the elementary school has on scientific achievement and attitude on the science of the students comparing to the usual scientific experiment class. For that purpose, this study has divided 49 students at the 6th grade of the M elementary school in P City into test groups of 24 students and control groups of 25 students. Classes have been progressed by giving sufficient time to the test groups for discussion by each small groups after experiment while by allowing the control groups to finish the experiment with arrangement of the experiment results. Conclusions of this study include: First, the more familiar the experiment materials are and the easier the experiment procedures are to be operated by the students, the more actively the small group discussion activities have been deployed. It shows that the students need a certain level of background knowledge before experiment for vital discussing activities. Second, it is appeared that the test groups given the scientific experiment class stressing small group discussing activity have significantly high scores comparing to the control groups given the existing scientific experiment class. It shows that the small group discussing activities have effects on promoting understanding of the students on the scientific achievement for the scientific experiment class. Third, it is appeared that the test groups given the scientific experiment class stressing small group discussing activity significantly high scores on attitude about the science comparing to the control groups given the existing scientific experiment class. It is considered that the students could have opportunities to compare their own thoughts with others and to have reflective thought to change their thoughts through the small group discussing activity. As shown above, it shows that the experiment class to stress discussing activities is more effective to increase scientific achievement and attitude about the science than the scientific experiment class to get and arrange the experiment results from the existing experiment classes.
This qualitative nursing research used a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to discover meaning in mid - aged women's experience of mastectomy. The ultimate aim of the inquiry was to discover the essence of mid-aged women's experience and promote understanding. The study was guided by Van Manen's method for doing research. The method of inquiry included. turning to phenomenon of interest ; inquiring and investigating experience as it was lived rather than as conceptualized ; reflecting and analyzing essential themes which characterize phenomenon : and describing phenomenon through art of writing and rewriting. Multiple strategies for data collecting were needed : in depth face-to-face interview ; analysis of women's writings ; artistic works : and analysis of examples of phenomenon in art, litera lure, and drama. Although the experience was different for all of the women interviewd, essential themes of experience emerged : Self-discovering of vicious disease, Divining punishment-unfortunate women, loss of self though the scar, a night-mare, change of life values and attitudes, rediscovering living alone, living through with fearing of death. Findings from artistic and creative inquiry further validated findings and meaning descovered. The study illuminated meaning and simultaneously validated the phenomenological research process. Essential themes for understanding women's experience, implications for education, research, and practice, direction and need for continuing inquiry were identified.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an online education on death, 'successful life, and beautiful death' for university students and to evaluate students' changes regarding perception of self and death. Method: A quasi-experimental design was used with one experimental group pre-post test. Subjects were 154 students who enrolled for online education about death for 16 weeks. SPSS/WIN 12 was used for analyzing data. Result: The results of the study clearly indicated this class had positive effects on students' perception of death-related concepts, attitudes toward death, and self-concept, showing statistically significant higher scores in post-tests than in pre-tests. In addition, the result of class evaluations showed a positive response, Conclusion: Findings suggested that this online education about death was effective to change students' perceptions of death related knowledge, attitude toward death, and self-concept. Recommendations for further studies were provided.
