  • In this paper, a mixed-mode cohesive law for an interface crack between epoxy and TR (transparent thermoplastic) resin is inversely estimated by the field projection method using numerical solutions and experimentally measured displacements. Displacements in a region far away from the crack tip are measured by digital image correlation technique. An inverse analysis, the field projection method formulated from the interaction J- and M-integrals with numerical auxiliary fields, is carried out to estimate a mixed-mode cohesive law for an interface crack between dissimilar materials. In the present approach, nonlinear deformations and damage near the crack tip are converted into the relationships of tractions and separations on crack surfaces behind the crack tip. The phase angle of mixed-mode singularities of the interface crack is also obtained from measured displacements in this study.

  • In this paper, We present a new nonlinear adaptive control law using a disturbance accommodating control (DAC) observer for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle called ALFLEX. A future spaceplane must have ability to deal with greater fluctuations in the stability and control derivatives of flight dynamics, because its flight region is much wider than that of conventional aircraft. In our previous studies, digital adaptive flight control systems have been developed based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) model depending on dynamic pressure, and obtained good simulation results. However, under previous control laws, it is difficult to accommodate uncertainties represented by disturbance and nonlinearity, and to design a stable flight control system. Therefore, in this study, we attempted to design a nonlinear adaptive control law using the DAC Observer and inverse dynamic methods. A good tracking property of the obtained system was confirmed in numerical simulation.

  • Many formation guidance laws have been proposed for VAV formation flight. Since most autonomous formation flight methods require various active communication links between the vehicles to know motion information of other vehicles, damage to the receiver or the transmitter and communication delay are critical problem to achieve a given formation flight mission. Therefore, in this point of view, the method that does not need an inter-vehicle communication is preferred in the autonomous formation flight. In this paper, we first summarize the formation guidance law without an inter-vehicle communication using feedback linearization and sliding mode control proposed in previous study. We also propose the modified formation guidance law with robust disturbance observer, which can provide significantly better performance than previously mentioned guidance law in case that other vehicles maneuver with large accelerations. The robust disturbance observer can estimate uncertainties generated by acceleration of leader vehicle. By eliminating the uncertainties using the estimated uncertainties, VAVs are able to achieve the tight formation flight. The performance of the proposed approach is validated by numerical simulations.

  • It is well known that a Boolean algebra is one of the most important algebra for engineering. A fuzzy algebra, which is referred to also as a Kleen algebra, is obtained from a Boolean algebra by replacing the complementary law in the axioms of a Bloolean algebra with the Kleen's law, where the Kleen's law is a weaker condition than the complementary law. Removal of the Kleen's law from a Kleen algebra gives a De Morgan algebra. In this paper, we generate lattice structures of the above related algebraic systems having finite elements by using a computer. From the result, we could find out a hypothesis that the structure excepting for each element name between a Kleene algebra and a De Morgan algebra is the same from the lattice standpoint.

  • This paper handles synthesis and investigation of a neural network guidance law based on pursuit-evasion games. This work considers two-dimensional pursuit-evasion games solved by using the gradient method. The procedure of developing a guidance law from the game-optimal solutions is deeply examined, and important features of the neural network guidance are investigated. The proposed neural network guidance law takes the range, range rate, line-of-sight rate, and heading error as its input variables. By reconstructing the trajectory, the accuracy of the neural network approximation is verified. Afterwards, robustness of the neural network guidance to the autopilot lag, which results from its feedback structure, is investigated ...

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate cook′s duties in the School Foodservice law, comparing with those of other countries and to suggest the more useful details of cook′s duties. As a result of this study many things of the cook′s duties in the School Foodservice law have to be changed. If then, the gap of the School Foodservice law and Food Sanitation law will be decreased, logical application of two laws could be possible and a lot of cook′s abilities could be enoughly used. Compared with other countries, cooks can be responsible officials in the School Foodservice. Suggestions about cook′s duties in the School Foodservice law are as follows. 1. Not only dietitian but also cook should be subscribed as a responsible official in the School Foodservice law. 2. Not only the duties of dietitian but also those of cook should be subscribed in the School Foodservice law. 3. Cook as a responsible official of School Foodservice should investigate the food as well as dietitian. 4. Dietitian teaches cook and assistant cook how to cook presently by the School Foodservice law, but cook should teach how to cook because cooking is cook′s major and cook gets the national certificate of cooking. 5. Cooks do job under dangerous circumstances, so extra money should be paid to cooks. 6. Even if not being described in the law and education of sanitation is presently done in the cook′s reeducation, dietitian educates sanitation to cook, so it has to be changed. Cook can educate sanitation to other workers in the School Foodservice. 7. The name of office room in the School Foodservice systems "dietitian′s room" should be changed to "Foodservice office room". If those suggestions are accomplished, cooks and dietitians can cooperate effectively and respectfully and the better School Foodservice can be served to students.

  • Existing bibliometric laws have been established on the basis of well defined science journals with a long history. However, the history of technology innovation research in Korea is young and the scope of the research is diverse compared with other fields. The main purpose of this research can be summarized as follows : Can the traditional bibliometric laws be used to explain the young and diverse data derived from technology innovation studies in Korea. Second, we want to compare the explain ability of the power law, compared with the traditional laws in the field. Third, we propose a quasi index related to the well-known impact factor to measure the contribution of a journal or a group of journals to the development of innovation research in Korea. We confirmed Lotka's and Bradford's laws which are used to measure the productivity of researchers, but we could not support the validity of Price's Square Root law as Nicholls (1998) could not. On the citations to journals, Garfield's laws is not observed. However, the power law fits well the citations to author, journal, article, and book. The estimated parameters between 1.6 and 3.5 are similar to the values in the range of 1.5 and 3 in previous studies. Finally the quasi index shows that the influence of international leading journals on innovation research in Korea is weaker than on innovation studies in the world.

  • In presence of collision between two rigid bodies, they exhibit impulsive behavior to generate physically feasible state. When the frictional impulse is involved, collision resolution can not be easily made based on a simple Newton's law or Poisson's law, mainly due to possible change of collision mode during collision, For example, sliding may change to sticking, and then sliding resumes. We first examine two conventional methods: the method of mode evolution by differential equation, and the other by linear complementarity programming. Then, we propose a new method for mode evolution by solving only algebraic equations defining mode changes. Further, our method attains the original nonlinear impulse cone constraint. The numerical simulation will elucidate the advantage of the proposed method as an alternative to conventional ones.

  • Let X, $X_1$, $X_2$, ... be i.i.d. random variables with zero means, variance one, and set $S_n\;=\;{\sum}^n_{i=1}\;X_i$, $n\;{\geq}\;1$. Gut and $Sp{\check{a}}taru$ [3] established the precise asymptotics in the law of the iterated logarithm and Li, Nguyen and Rosalsky [7] generalized their result under minimal conditions. If P($|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\varepsilon}{\sqrt{2n\;{\log}\;{\log}\;n}}$) is replaced by E{$|S_n|/{\sqrt{n}}-{\varepsilon}{\sqrt{2\;{\log}\;{\log}\;n}$}+ in their results, the new one is called the moment version of precise asymptotics in the law of the iterated logarithm. We establish such a result for self-normalized sums, when X belongs to the domain of attraction of the normal law.
