Present research is mainly focused on, microstructural and durability analysis of Graphene Oxide (GO) in Wollastonite (WO) induced cement mortar with silica fume. The study was conducted by evaluating the mechanical properties (compressive and flexural strength), durability properties (water absorption, sorptivity and sulphate resistance) and microstructural analysis by SEM. Cement mortar mix prepared by replacing 10% ordinary portland cement with SF was considered as the control mix. Wollastonite replacement level varied from 0 to 20% by weight of cement. The optimum replacement of wollastonite was found to be 15% and this was followed by four sets of mortar specimens with varying substitution levels of cementitious material with GO at dosage rates of 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4% by weight. The results indicated that the addition of up to 15%WO and 0.3% GO improves the hydration process and increase the compressive strength and flexural strength of the mortar due to the pore volume reduction, thereby strengthening the mortar mix. The resistance to water penetration and sulphate attack of mortar mixes were generally improved with the dosage of GO in presence of 15% Wollastonite and 10% silica fume content in the mortar mix. Furthermore, FE-SEM test results showed that the WO influences the lattice framework of the cement hydration products increasing the bonding between silica fume particles and cement. The optimum mix containing 0.3% GO with 15% WO replacement exhibited extensive C-S-H formation along with a uniform densified structure indicating that calcium meta-silicate has filled the pores.
The objective of this study is to determine the effect of fiber direction arrangement and layer composition of hybrid bamboo laminate boards on the physical and mechanical properties. The raw material used was tali bamboo (Gigantochloa apus (J.A. & J.H. Schultes) Kurs) rope in the form of flat sheets (zephyr) and falcata veneer (Paraserianthes falcataria (L) Nielsen). Zephyr bamboo was arranged in three layers using water-based isocyanate polymer (WBPI) with a glue spread rate of 300 g/m2. There were variations in the substitution of the core layer with falcata veneers (hybrid) as much as two layers and using a glue spread rate of 170 g/m2. The laminated bamboo board was cold-pressed at a pressure of 22.2 kgf/cm2 for 1 h, and the physical and mechanical properties were evaluated. The results showed that the arrangement of the fiber direction significantly affected the dimensional stability, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, shear strength, and screw withdrawal strength. However, the composition of the layers had no significant effect on the physical and mechanical properties. The bonding quality of bamboo laminate boards with WBPI was considered to be quite good, as shown by the absence of delamination in all test samples. The bamboo hybrid laminate board can be an alternative based on the physical and mechanical properties that can meet laminated board standards.
This paper discussed and analyzed the interfacial stress distribution characteristic of adjacent cracks in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) plate strengthened concrete slabs. One un-strengthened concrete test beam and four CFRP plate-strengthened concrete test beams were designed to carry out four-point flexural tests. The test data shows that the interfacial shear stress between the interface of CFRP plate and concrete can effectively reduce the crack shrinkage of the tensile concrete and reduces the width of crack. The maximum main crack flexural height in pure bending section of the strengthened specimen is smaller than that of the un-strengthened specimen, the CFRP plate improves the rigidity of specimens without brittle failure. The average ultimate bearing capacity of the CFRP-strengthened specimens was increased by 64.3% compared to that without CFRP-strengthen. This indicites that CFRP enhancement measures can effectively improve the ultimate bearing capacity and delay the occurrence of debonding damage. Based on the derivation of mechanical analysis model, the calculation formula of interfacial shear stress between adjacent cracks is proposed. The distributions characteristics of interfacial shear stress between certain crack widths were given. In the intermediate cracking region of pure bending sections, the length of the interfacial softening near the mid-span cracking position gradually increases as the load increases. The CFRP-concrete interface debonding capacity with the larger adjacent crack spacing is lower than that with the smaller adjacent crack spacing. The theoretical calculation results of interfacial bonding shear stress between adjacent cracks have good agreement with the experimental results. The interfacial debonding failure between adjacent cracks in the intermediate cracking region was mainly caused by the root of the main crack. The larger the spacing between adjacent cracks exists, the easier the interfacial debonding failure occurs.

This study was performed to compare the shear bond strength of primary enamel & dentin treated by AQ Bond $Plus^{TM}$ and G $Bond^{TM}$, recently developed 6th generation dentin bonding system, to that of Single $Bond^{TM}$ being widely used. Also by observing the resin tag under scanning electron microscope, Resin tags of each material were also observed under scanning electron microscope and compared to one another. The possibility of clinical application of All-in-One system which has an advantage to reduce chair-time for children with difficult behavior pattern was evaluated. The results obtained are as follows: 1. No statistically significant difference between groups was found in shear bond strength of primary enamel. 2. In primary dentin, the shear bond strength of AQ Bond $Plus^{TM}$ was $1.15\;{\pm}\;0.37\;MPa$, G $Bond^{TM}$ was $1.69\;{\pm}\;0.74\;MPa$ and Single $Bond^{TM}$ was $0.56\;{\pm}\;0.11\;MPa$. There were no statistical difference between AQ Bond $Plus^{TM}$ and G $Bond^{TM}$ and between G $Bond^{TM}$ and Single $Bond^{TM}$, whereas statistically significant difference was found between AQ Bond $Plus^{TM}$ and Single $Bond^{TM}$. 3. Under scanning electron microscope, resin tags observed in AQ Bond $Plus^{TM}$ and G $Bond^{TM}$ were very weak and tangled while strong and thick tags were shown with many lateral branches in Single $Bond^{TM}$. The result of the present study coupled with the advantages of less working time over the previous generation suggests that All-in-One system might be effectively used in adhesive dental procedures for primary teeth.

This study was performed to compare the shear bond strength of self etching system and two bottle bonding system with or without laser preparation. Group I was prepared with high speed rotary instrument and $Prompt^{TM}$ L-$Pop^{TM}$, group II with Er:YAG laser and $Prompt^{TM}$ L-$Pop^{TM}$, group III with Er:YAG laser, 37% phosphoric acid and Single bond, group IV with Er:YAG laser and Single bond and group V with high speed, etching and Single bond. And also observation of the prepared and etched dentin surface were performed under scanning electro-microscope. The possibility of clinical application of laser preparation which might have an advantage to reduce pain for children with less unfavorable noise were evaluated. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Group V showed significantly higher bond strength than other groups. And group IV showed significantly lower bond strength than other groups. 2. There was no significant difference between group I and group III. 3. Group II showed significantly lower bond strength than group I, III, V, but showed significantly higher bond strength than group IV. 4. Under scanning electro-microscope, laser-preparated dentin surface showed high irregularity and no smear layer. The surface showed less irregularities and more exposed dentinal tubules with etching. Laser preparation has many advantages over conventional tooth preparation. But this method showed lower resin bonding strength. Laser preparated tooth surface differed from the conventionally preparated tooth surface. More researches are needed on suitable methods for laser preparated dentin surface.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of various acid treatments on dentin bonding. Freshly extracted human teeth were uprightly embedded in self curing acrylic resin, and their occlusal surfaces were grinded to expose flat dentin surfaces. The specimens were divided into 4 groups. Specimens of one group were not treated so as to be a control and those of the other three groups were threated with 10% polyacrylic acid, 10% phosphoric acid, and 10-3 solution(10% citric acid/3% ferric chloride) respectively. Primer, bonding resin and composite resin were applied over the treated dentin surfaces sequentially. All specimens were stored in $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours, then the tensile bond strength was measured and the treated dentin surfaces and fracured dentin surfaces were examined under a scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows: Bond strengths of acid-treated groups were higher than those of the untreated group. In the acid-treated groups, bond strength was found to be the highest in the 10-3 solution group followed by the 10% phosphoric acid group and the 10% polyacrylic acid group(P<0.01). On SEM examination of dentin surfaces, the untreated dentin surface showed a remaining smear layer and closed dentinal tubules. Dentin surfaces treated with 10 % polyacrylic acid showed a clean dentin surface without the smear layer, but showed remaining smear plugs in dentinal tubules. A dentin surface treated with 10% phosphoric acid or 10-3 solution showed open dentinal tubules without the smear layer or smear plugs. On SEM observation of the fractured dentin-resin interface, the untreated group showed that failure occurred in the smear layer. The group treated with 10% polyacrylic acid showed no resin tag remained in the dentinal tubules, but resin tags in the dentinal tubules were observed in the group treated with the 10% phosphoric acid or the 10-3 solution. On the failure mode examination, the higher the bond strength of the group, the higher the frequency of cohesive failure. The coefficient between bond strength and cohesive failure rate was 0.71.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to compare the surface roughness of zirconia when using Zircos E etching system (ZSAT), applying a nitric acid-hydrofluoric acid compound as a pretreatment agent, and also to compare the shear bonding strength according to different resin cements. MATERIALS AND METHODS. ZSAT, air abrasion, and tribochemical silicacoating were applied on prepared 120 zirconia specimens (10 mm in diameter, 7 mm in height) using CAD/CAM. Each 12 specimens with 4 different resin cements (Panavia F 2.0, Rely X Unicem, Superbond C&B, and Hot bond) were applied to test interfacial bond strength. The statistical analysis was performed using SAS 9.1 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). The results are as follows: after application of the ZSAT on the zirconia specimens, surface roughness value after 2-hour etching was higher than those after 1- and 3-hour etching on SEM images. RESULTS. For Superbond C&B and Rely X Unicem, the specimens treated with ZSAT showed higher shear bond strength values than those treated with air abrasion and tribochemical silicacoating system. Regarding the failure mode of interface over cement and zirconia surface, Rely X Unicem and Hot bond showed cohesive failures and Panavia F 2.0 and Superbond C&B showed mixed failures. CONCLUSION. Zircos E etching system in zirconia restoration could increase its shear bond strength. However, its long term success rate and clinical application should be further evaluated.

This study was focused on the evaluation of the thermo-mechanical board-level reliability of Pb-bearing and Pb-free surface mount assemblies. The composition of Pb-bearing solder was a typical Sn-37Pb and that of Pb-free solder used in this study was a representative Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu in mass %. Thermal shock test was chosen for the reliability evaluation of the solder joints. Typical $Cu_6Sn_5$ intermetallic compound (IMC) layer was formed between both solders and Cu lead frame at the as-reflowed state, while a layer of $Cu_3Sn$ was additionally formed between the $Cu_6Sn_5$ and Cu lead frame during the thermal shock testing. Thickness of the IMC layers increased with increasing thermal shock cycles, and this is very similar result with that of isothermal aging study of solder joints. Shear test of the multi layer ceramic capacitor(MLCC) joints was also performed to investigate the degradation of mechanical bonding strength of solder joints during the thermal shock testing. Failure mode of the joints after shear testing revealed that the degradation was mainly due to the excessive growth of the IMC layers during the thermal shock testing.

Statement of problem : Removable partial denture and complete denture often require denture base relines to improve the fittness against tissue-bearing mucosa because of the gradual change in edentulous ridge contour and resorption of underlyng bony structure. Self-curing hard reline resins offers the immediate and relatively inexpensive means to be recondition the surface of denture base directly However weak bond between denture base resin and reline material can harbor bacteria, promote staining, or result in complete separation of the two materials. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of denture cleansers on bond strength and surface hardness of reline resin to denture base resin Denture base resin beams($60.0{\times}15.0{\times}3.0mm$) were made with Lucitone 199. Material and methods : 10mm section was removed from the center of each specimen. The samples were replaced in the molds and the space of l0mm sections were packed with Tokuso Rebase reline material. The specimens were immersed in denture cleansers (Polident, Cleadent) and were evaluated after 1 week, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks. The bond strength and surface hardness of self-curing hard reline materials to heat-curing denture base resin were measured using an UTM (universal testing machine). Results and conclusion : 1) There was no significant difference of usage, kind, and denture cleaner by application time on the bonding strength of self-curing hard reline resin to denture base resin. 2) There was no significant difference of usage, kind, and denture cleaner by application time on the surface hardness, but the surface hardness showed decreasing tendency, as the time of immersion was extended. 3) The failure modes of the specimens was initially adhesive failure and finally cohesive failure of self-curing hard reline resin.
Objective: We aimed to investigate the effects of silanation time on the shear bond strength (SBS) of metal brackets on gold alloy in a silicoating procedure and compare the SBS of metal brackets on gold alloy and enamel. Methods: Type III gold alloy plates were sandblasted with 30-${\mu}m$ silicon dioxide. Excess particles were removed with gentle air after silica coating, and silane was applied. Maxillary central-incisor metal brackets were bonded to each conditioned alloy surface with a light curing resin adhesive for 1 s, 30 s, 60 s, or 120 s after applying silane. The brackets were also bonded to 36 upper central incisors with the same adhesive. All samples were cured for 40 s with a light emitting diode curing light. The SBS was tested after 1 h and after 24 h. The adhesive remnant index (ARI) of the samples was also compared. Results: The 60-s and 120-s silanation time groups showed a higher SBS than the other groups (p < 0.05). Samples tested after 24 h showed a significantly higher SBS than did the samples tested after 1 h (p < 0.05). The 1-s group showed higher ARI scores. The one-way analysis of variance and Student-Newman-Keuls test showed that the SBS values of the 60-s and 120-s silanation time groups were not significantly different from the SBS values of enamel. Conclusions: Adequate silanation time is required to produce sufficient bond strength during silicoating.
