  • Many Applications of scientific research have coupled with functional data signal clustering techniques to discover novel characteristics that can be used for the diagnoses of several issues. In this article we present an interpretable multi-scale cluster hierarchy framework for clustering functional data using its multi-aspect frequency information. The suggested method focuses on how to effectively select transformed features/variables in unsupervised manner so that finally reduce the data dimension and achieve the multi-purposed clustering. Specially, we apply our suggested method to mutual fund returns and make superior-performing funds group based on different aspects such as global patterns, seasonal variations, levels of noise, and their combinations. To promise our method producing a quality cluster hierarchy, we give some empirical results under the simulation study and a set of real life data. This research will contribute to financial market analysis and flexibly fit to other research fields with clustering purposes.

  • The bridge to be analyzed is a self-anchored suspension bridge which is constructed within the country. Forced vibration test was performed with oscillator for verification of safety, maintenance and management. In this study, the feasibility of deduction was verified with the modified analysis model by comparing natural frequency, natural mode and damping ratio of the real bridge, which are obtained from the vibration test of the whole bridge after construction of 3-dimensional self-anchored cable suspension bridge, with the eigenvalue of analytic computation model and evaluating them. As a result of study, the friction of bridge bearing must be considered to get the natural frequencies of flexural vibration, and evaluating the polar moment of inertia is critical factor in analysis modeling in case of torsional vibration. The logarithmic damping ratio of the test appeared to exceed the ordinary one assumed at the design phase.

  • Experimental analysis according to the plasma actuator design variables was performed in order to verify the effects of sliding discharge plasma on aerodynamic drag reduction of a high-speed train. For the study, sliding discharge plasma actuator and high-frequency, high-voltage power supply were developed and experimented to figure out the best design variables for highest ionic wind velocity which could reduce the drag force. And then, 5% reduced-scale model of a high-speed train was built for wind tunnel test to verify it. From the results, it was confirmed that sliding discharge plasma had contribution to reduce the drag force and it had the potential to be applied to real-scale trains.

  • The stability of protein tissues and protein fibers in the human muscle is investigated in the presented paper. The protein fibers are modeled via tube structures embedded in others proteins fibers like the elastic substrate. Physical sport and physical exercise play an important role in the stability of synthesis and strength of the protein tissues. In physical exercise, the temperature of the body increases, and this temperature change impacts the stability of the protein tissues, which is the aim of the current study. The mathematical simulation of the protein tissues is done based on the mechanical sciences, and the protein fibers are modeled via wire structures according to the high-order theory beams. The thermal stress due to the conditions of the sport is applied to the nanoscale protein fibers, then the stability regarding the frequency analysis is investigated. Finally, the impact of temperature change, physical exercise, and small-scale parameters on the stability of the protein tissues are examined in detail.

  • This study aimed to analyze the effects of athletic career and competition participation frequency on exercise commitment of women university taekwondo athletes. Study subjects were 20 women university taekwondo athletes. Athletic career and competition participation frequency was assessed by 4-points scale and the higher points indicate the higher level of each variables. Exercise commitment was assessed by Exercise Commitment Scale. The assessment consists of a total of 8 questions, 4 of which are action immersion and 4 of cognitive immersion, and is evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale. The higher the score, the higher the level of exercise commitment. As the results, positive relationship showed both correlation and casual relationship analysis between competition participation frequency and exercise commitment. Negative casual relationship (-) showed between athletic career and exercise commitment. These results indicated that the increase of competition participation frequency affects the exercise commitment and the longer of athletic career indicates the decrease the level of exercise commitment. Thus, to improve the exercise commitment of women university taekwondo athletes, the competition participation frequency and athletic career should be considered.

  • This study began to learn wether or not satisfaction factor of rural tourism is effective to visit for the ordinary foreign people. Research method was parallel-site investigation literature, questionnaire. The analytical data of the study, literature 40 reviews, questionnaire 179 survey in 200 of the subject was using. Measurement and scale was set factors of satisfaction with 'Transportation Infrastructure', 'Festival Experience Program', 'Place', 'Room and Food', 'Local People', and 'Buying the Local Product' through the previous studies and preliminary survey. In the statistical analysis method, frequency analysis, crosstabs, multiple regression analysis and a structural equation model analysis was performed, using SPSS and AMOS program. The Structural analysis results showed 'Place' and 'Local People' have an positive effect on the 'Overall Satisfaction'. Satisfaction of the 'Festival ExperienceProgram', had a major impact also 'Intention of Revisit'. Finally for rural tourism fascination, the contents such as the distinctive local attraction, human resources, information transmission and convenient use is more important than the format and scale.

  • Vibration-based structural health monitoring is used to ensure the safety of structures by installing sensors in structures. The peak picking method, one of the applications of vibration-based structural health monitoring, is a method that analyze the dynamic characteristics of a structure using the peaks of the frequency response function. However, the results may vary depending on the person predicting the peak point; further, the method does not predict the exact peak point in the presence of noise. To overcome the limitations of the existing peak picking methods, this study proposes a new method to automate the modal analysis process by utilizing long short-term memory, a type of recurrent neural network. The method proposed in this study uses the time series data of the frequency response function directly as the input of the LSTM network. In addition, the proposed method improved the accuracy by using the phase as well as amplitude information of the frequency response function. Simulation experiments and lab-scale model experiments are performed to verify the performance of the LSTM network developed in this study. The result reported a modal assurance criterion of 0.8107, and it is expected that the dynamic characteristics of a civil structure can be predicted with high accuracy using data without experts.

  • In this study, numerical hull form development of a platform supply vessel, a full scale with the overall length of 26.75m, was performed to predict a bare-hull resistance and a large scale of model tests with a 1/10 scaled model were conducted to verify the success of numerical results. Numerical analysis on heave and pitch motion as a function of encounter frequency and ship's speed for the prediction of seakeeping characteristics are also presented. The experiment results of resistance agreed well with numerical analysis. As a result in the motion response characteristics, the heave RAO indicates high values with the range of encounter frequency 1.8~2.0. The Pitch RAO indicates high motion response characteristics at Beaufort scale No. 3 and 4 in rough seas.

  • In this study a lab scale seismic test method which is able to evaluate seismic resistant performance of the fire protecting components in case of earthquake was developed. This seismic test consists of equivalent accelerating and temporary accelerating. The former is to search for resonance frequency and the latter is to simulate vibrating by earthquake with intensive magnitude. The frequency and displacement accelerated to the components was decided by maximum acceleration of gravity, and whether or not they could maintain function was tried to be confirmed. This test method is expected as an effective one for evaluating seismic resistant performance for the fire protecting components.
