In this paper, we proposed image processing technique for automatic real time fire and smoke detection in tunnel environment. To avoid the large scale of damage of fire occurred in the tunnel, it is necessary to have a system to minimize and to discover the incident as fast as possible. The fire and smoke detection is different from the forest fire detection as there are elements such as car and tunnel lights and others that are different from the forest environment so that an indigenous algorithm has to be developed. The two algorithms proposed in this paper, are able to detect the exact position, at the earlier stage of incident.

A method of individual vehicle detection using gray scale image acquired from a high position is proposed for guidance of incoming vehicles to vacant cells in a parking lot and other similar purposes. With the proposed method, each image region corresponding to a cell is fragmented according to density(gray level), and the distribution of segment area is analyzed to decide if a vehicle is present. The proposed method was tested on an actual outdoor parking lot during 2 days with different weather conditions from sunrise through sunset.
We propose a novel deep neural network model for detecting human activities in untrimmed videos. The process of human activity detection in a video involves two steps: a step to extract features that are effective in recognizing human activities in a long untrimmed video, followed by a step to detect human activities from those extracted features. To extract the rich features from video segments that could express unique patterns for each activity, we employ two different convolutional neural network models, C3D and I-ResNet. For detecting human activities from the sequence of extracted feature vectors, we use BLSTM, a bi-directional recurrent neural network model. By conducting experiments with ActivityNet 200, a large-scale benchmark dataset, we show the high performance of the proposed DeepAct model.
Recently, large-scale fires have been generated as urban buildings have become more and more density. Especially, the expansion of smoke in buildings due to high-rise is an problem, and the smoke is the main cause of death in fires. Therefore, in this paper, the image-based smoke detection is proposed through deep learning-based artificial intelligence techniques to prevent possible damage if existing detectors are not detected. In addition, the detection model was not configured simply through only the smoke data set, but the data set in the haze form was additionally composed together to compensate for the accuracy.
In time division duplex (TDD)-based multiuser massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, the uplink channel is estimated and the results are used in downlink for signal detection. Owing to noisy uplink channel estimation, the downlink channel should also be estimated for accurate signal detection. Therefore, recently, a blind method was developed, which assumes the use of a linear high-power amplifier (HPA) in the base station (BS). In this study, we extend this method to a scenario with a nonlinear HPA in the BS, where the Bussgang decomposition is used for HPA modeling. In the proposed method, the average power of the received signal for each user is a function of channel gain, large-scale fading, and nonlinear distortion variance. Therefore, the channel gain is estimated, which is required for signal detection. The performance of the proposed method is analyzed theoretically. The simulation results show superior performance of the proposed method compared to that of the other methods in the literature.
This paper presents an improved time series based damage detection approach with experimental verifications for detection, localization, and quantification of damage in shear-type structures under varying mass effects using output-only vibration data. The proposed method can be very effective for automated monitoring of buildings to develop proactive maintenance strategies. In this method, Auto-Regressive Moving Average models with eXogenous inputs (ARMAX) are built to represent the dynamic relationship of different sensor clusters. The damage features are extracted based on the relative difference of the ARMAX model coefficients to identify the existence, location and severity of damage of stiffness and mass separately. The results from a laboratory-scale shear type structure show that different damage scenarios are revealed successfully using the approach. At the end of this paper, the methodology limitations are also discussed, especially when simultaneous occurrence of mass and stiffness damage at multiple locations.
This paper aims at providing valuable insights on Financial Fraud Detection on a mobile money transactional activity. We have predicted and classified the transaction as normal or fraud with a small sample and massive data set using Azure and Spark ML, which are traditional systems and Big Data respectively. Experimenting with sample dataset in Azure, we found that the Decision Forest model is the most accurate to proceed in terms of the recall value. For the massive data set using Spark ML, it is found that the Random Forest classifier algorithm of the classification model proves to be the best algorithm. It is presented that the Spark cluster gets much faster to build and evaluate models as adding more servers to the cluster with the same accuracy, which proves that the large scale data set can be predictable using Big Data platform. Finally, we reached a recall score with 0.73, which implies a satisfying prediction quality in predicting fraudulent transactions.

Object Detection is an emerging technology in the field of Computer Vision and Image Processing that deals with detecting objects of a particular class in digital images. It has considered being one of the complicated and challenging tasks in computer vision. Earlier several machine learning-based approaches like SIFT (Scale-invariant feature transform) and HOG (Histogram of oriented gradients) are widely used to classify objects in an image. These approaches use the Support vector machine for classification. The biggest challenges with these approaches are that they are computationally intensive for use in real-time applications, and these methods do not work well with massive datasets. To overcome these challenges, we implemented a Deep Learning based approach Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in this paper. The Proposed approach provides accurate results in detecting objects in an image by the area of object highlighted in a Bounding Box along with its accuracy.
