  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of flash panorama-based virtual field trips (VFT) as a supporting tool for geological field activity on middle school students' spatial visualization ability, conceptual understanding, and perceptions. A total of 17 middle school students participated in a three day long actual geological field trip around Jeju Island where a three-phase instructional model is applied for utilization of flash panorama-based VFT, which was proposed by Kim and Lee (2011). With one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design, data were collected using questionnaire and were analyzed to find out a change in students' spatial visualization ability and volcanic concept understanding, and their perceptions about the utilization of flash panorama-based VFT. Findings are as follows: First, the effect of utilizing flash panorama-based VFT in actual field trip revealed that there was meaningful increase in 'spatial relation' category of spatial visualization ability and 'knowledge' and 'comprehension' domains of volcanic concept understanding. Second, majority of students showed positive gain index in both spatial visualization ability and volcanic concept understanding. Lastly, participating students showed much interest and high satisfaction, and positive perception on the use of VFT. They also perceived that the utilization of flash panorama-based VFT could help in carrying out an actual field trip in terms of cognitive and geographical factors.

  • This study examines the Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2005 7th-9th year data to analyze the university life of transfer students prior to their transferring by comparing them to that of non-transfer students. This study used two types of comparison groups: The first comparison group encompasses all who did not transfer and the second group was 1:1 matched sample of students who were enrolled in the same universities in the 7th year and were of the same gender. The 7th and 8th year experiences were compared, respectively. According to the result, transfer students in their previous universities compared to non-transfer students demonstrated higher grade point average, active class participation, and more interaction with faculty outside the class. On the other hand, these students demonstrated relatively lower satisfaction in university life, lower sense of belonging, and lower participation in student unions, campus events, and other student activities. They also tended to have less interaction with their colleagues. In other words, transfer students showed high competency and interests in academic activities like managing good grades and interacting with faculty but showed less interest in social activities such as interacting with peers and engaging in various campus activities. It is necessary to develope programs to help transfer students to adapt to school efficiently by utilizing the results of this study.

  • This study examined the relationships among levels of knowledge, attitude and preventive behavior regarding tuberculosis in service workers. The survey period was 1 - 7 October, 2015 with service workers who work in large scale stores in Jeonnam. The collected data were analyzed using an independent t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients using the SPSS WIN 12.0 program. The mean score for knowledge about tuberculosis was $14.05{\pm}6.39$, the mean score of attitude toward tuberculosis was $29.87{\pm}4.89$ and the mean score of preventive behavior for tuberculosis was $31.44{\pm}4.86$. Preventive behavior was found to have significant relationships with gender, marital status, smoking, job satisfaction, and subjective health status. A slightly positive correlation was observed between the knowledge of tuberculosis and the attitudes toward tuberculosis. A positive correlation was noted between the attitude toward tuberculosis and preventive behavior for tuberculosis, while there was a negative correlation between the preventive behavior and age. Therefore, is necessary to consider the related factors for the development and implementation of systematic education programs that can encourage and promote preventive behavior for tuberculosis among service workers.

  • The study purpose was to examine weight control status and related factors among 370 high school girls in Seoul. Factors examined included interest toward weight control, body satisfaction, body image, beliefs regarding weight control and self-efficacy. $65.1\%$ had attempted to control weight and were categorized into attempt group. Those in the attempt group had higher body weight (p < 0.001) and BMI (p < 0.001) than the counterparts. They tried to control weight 2.9 times on average (22.4 days each time). The major information sources for weight control were internet ($62.8\%$), and TV/radio ($17.1\%$). Exercise was most commonly used for weight control, followed by reducing meal amount and skipping dinner. The attempt group was less satisfied with body size (p < 0.001) and perceived their body size as heavier than the counterparts (p < 0.001), but they showed more interest toward weight control (p < 0.001). The ideal body size of society or the body size that they want was very thin in both groups. Twelve out of 20 beliefs regarding weight control were significantly different between the two groups. The attempt group believed more strongly on the advantages such as increased self-confidence, appearance, attractiveness (p < 0.001) and 'good for making friends' (p < 0.01) In contrast, the attempt group believed less strongly about the disadvantages including harmful effects on health (p < 0.001), parents' dislike, feelings of discouragement (p < 0.01) and becoming (p < 0.05). The attempt group showed lower overall self-efficacy to control overeating (p < 0.05) than the counterparts. Especially, the attempt group felt less control of overeating in situations such as eating-out, after school, when they are with family (p < 0.01) or with friends, when they feel hungry, during examination periods and when others offer food (p < 0.05). This study suggested that weight management education for adolescents include strategies for changing body image and beliefs regarding weight control, as well as increasing self-efficacy to control overeating. • This study aimed to investigate the role of student immediacy in learning-related positive affective experiences in the technology-mediated education context. In particular, perceived social presence was expected to mediate the relationship between student immediacy and positive affect. Moreover, we hypothesized the moderating role of technology readiness in the relationship between student immediacy and perceived social presence. To test this hypothesis, a survey of approximately 500 undergraduate students who have attended non-face-to-face online courses was conducted. The results revealed that social presence fully mediated the relationship between immediacy and positive affect. That is, students who scored high on the immediacy scale tended to experience a greater level of social presence during online classes; consequently, they tended to demonstrate more positive affect. As expected, technology readiness moderated the relationship between immediacy and social presence. Unlike previous studies that mainly focused on instructor immediacy, the present study contributed to immediacy literature by empirically testing the positive effect of student immediacy on learning. Furthermore, this study revealed the potential importance of communication competence and its progress in predicting student participation and satisfaction, which could have been changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • By actively adopting technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the port industry is trending toward new types of ports, such as automated and smart ports. However, behind the development of these ports, there is an increasing risk of cyber security incidents and threats within ports and container terminals, including information leakage through cargo handling equipment and ransomware attacks leading to disruptions in terminal operations. Despite the necessity of research to enhance cyber security within ports, there is a lack of such studies in the domestic context. This study focuses on Busan Port, a representative port in South Korea that actively incorporates technology from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in order to discover variables for improving cyber security in container terminals. The research results categorized factors for enhancing cyber security in Busan Port's container terminals into network construction and policy support, standardization of education and personnel training, and legal and regulatory factors. Subsequently, multiple regression analysis was conducted based on these factors, leading to the identification of detailed factors for securing and enhancing safety, reliability, performance, and satisfaction in Busan Port's container terminals. The significance of this study lies in providing direction for enhancing cyber security in Busan Port's container terminals and addressing the increasing incidents of cyber security attacks within ports and container terminals.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve accessibility to school library materials through analysis of elementary school students' information search behavior in DLS. Accordingly, the DLS search process was recorded for 26 students attempting a DLS search in the school library, and data was collected through a pre-search questionnaire on overall information needs and a post-search questionnaire on the search process and results. As a result of the analysis, satisfaction was found to be low when the main purpose of DLS use was simple leisure reading, when the search time and number of search words were long, and when there were too many search results. Accordingly, it was emphasized that curriculum subject-related metadata elements should be developed and a curriculum subject-specific thesaurus should be built and used to build lists and support user searches. In addition, it was suggested that the basic functions provided in external searches should be included, and a foundation should be laid in terms of resources and curriculum to systematically provide information utilization education to elementary school students who lack the ability to select search terms and judge the suitability of results after the search. It was proposed to provide an integrated search service with external resources and a personalized book recommendation service.

  • This study is aiming to analyze the relevance of rating criteria and these criteria may have effects on policy purpose of 'Construction Skilled Workers' Rank System', that are inflow of new comer, improvement of job performance, and decrease job-change. Closely related systems, electronic card system and prevailing wage system, are considered by assuming three scenarios, although they are not introduced yet. Empirical survey shows that the relevance is above average. The empirical result of regression also predicts that policy target might be mostly satisfied. Policy purpose is regressed on rating criteria, they are career, qualification, education and training, award. Career and award have positive impact on inflow of new comer. All four criteria have significant impacts on improvement of job performance. Award has strong effects on decreasing job-change. Especially, when electronic card system and prevailing wage system are adopted simultaneously with 'Construction Skilled Workers' Rank System', the level of satisfaction of policy purpose would be higher.
