  • In this paper we proposed an algorithm selection method based on the features of video inputs which are acquired from the large scale integrated surveillance system. The example of integrated surveillance system is the metro railway system. Automated surveillance system at large area saves the human resource and minimizes the non-observing spots. We have analyzed the input video under this system in order to apply adequate video analytics algorithms in each installing places and for each situation. Based on the analysis, we suggested event processing scenarios and video analytic algorithm selection.

Optimization of Mesoscale Atmospheric Motion Vector Algorithm Using Geostationary Meteorological Satellite Data (정지기상위성자료를 이용한 중규모 바람장 산출 알고리즘 최적화)

  • The Atmospheric motion vectors (AMVs) derived using infrared (IR) channel imagery of geostationary satellites have been utilized widely for real-time weather analysis and data assimilation into global numerical prediction model. As the horizontal resolution of sensors on-board satellites gets higher, it becomes possible to identify atmospheric motions induced by convective clouds ($meso-{\beta}$ and $meso-{\gamma}$ scales). The National Institute of Meteorological Research (NIMR) developed the high resolution visible (HRV) AMV algorithm to detect mesoscale atmospheric motions including ageostrophic flows. To retrieve atmospheric motions smaller than $meso-{\beta}$ scale effectively, the target size is reduced and the visible channel imagery of geostationary satellite with 1 km resolution is used. For the accurate AMVs, optimal conditions are decided by investigating sensitivity of algorithm to target selection and correction method of height assignment. The results show that the optimal conditions are target size of 32 km ${\times}$ 32 km, the grid interval as same as target size, and the optimal target selection method. The HRV AMVs derived with these conditions depict more effectively tropical cyclone OMAIS than IR AMVs and the mean speed of HRV AMVs in OMAIS is slightly faster than that of IR AMVs. Optimized mesoscale AMVs are derived for 6 months (Feb. 2010-Jun. 2010) and validated with radiosonde observations, which indicates NIMR's HRV AMV algorithm can retrieve successfully mesoscale atmospheric motions.

  • Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) is a convenient system that acquires position and time information of a receiver if only satellite signals can be received anywhere in the world. However navigation signals include errors and a position error occurs according to the reception state of the signal. Also, a position error is affected by the geometric arrangement of the satellites. Therefore a receiver position performance varies by the number and status of visible satellites The condition of satellite signals is not good when the satellite rises or sets and the position change of receiver occurs when the signal is blocked by an obstacle such as a building in the urban area. In this paper, we proposed methods to improve the GNSS performance by using pseudorange correction method estimating the correction amount and the visible satellites selection method. By applying the proposed methods to an environment in which the number of visible satellites changes variously, the performance enhancement was verified.

  • The selection of ground stations is one of the essential process of IGS (International GNSS Service) products. High quality GPS data should be collected from the globally distributed ground stations. In this study, we investigated an effect of ground station network selection on GPS satellite ephemeris. The GPS satellite ephemeris obtained from the twelve ground station networks were analyzed to investigate the effect of selection of ground stations. For data quality check, the observations, the number of cycle slips, and multipath of pseudoranges for L1 and L2 were considered. The ideal network defined by Taylor-Karman structure and SOD (Second Order Design) were used to obtain the optimal ground station network.

  • Science and Technology SATellite-3 (STSAT-3) is science purpose satellite which weighs below 170kg. This is classified as small satellite or micro satellite more specifically. The launch vehicles (launchers) for small satellite has their own requirements for environmental interface. Since the small satellites are usually launched with cluster or multiple payloads, the selection option for appropriate launcher is limited. Therefore, the satellite should be designed with the consideration of environmental requirements of these launchers. In this paper, the environmental requirement of most candidated launchers for small satellite is summarized and give satellite environmental requirement to accommodate all launchers requirements.

  • The design and analysis of satellite power subsystem is an important driver for the mass, size, and capability of the satellite. Every other satellite subsystem is affected by the power subsystem, and in particular, important issues such as launch vehicle selection, thermal design, and structural design are largely influenced by the capabilities and limitations of the power system. This paper introduces a new electrical power subsystem design program for the rapid development of LEO satellite and shows an example of design results using other LEO satellite design data. The results shows that the proposed design program can be used the optimum sizing and the analytical prediction of the on-orbit performance of satellite electrical power subsystem.

  • Power system in satellite is protected by installing fuses, LCLs (Latching Current Limiters), etc. between satellite power supply and loads. In this paper, the fuse sizing technique for satellite power system protection is addressed. Detailed fuse sizing method is explained and it is shown that the single fuse connection method is mathematically subordinated to the parallel fuse connection method. In addition, appropriate fuse selection method is newly suggested under a situation where exact current characteristics of a load connected to a fuse is unknown.

  • The problem of assigning customers to satellite channels is considered in this paper. Finding an optimal allocation of customers to satellite channels is a difficult combinatorial optimization problem and is shown to be NP-complete in an earlier study. We propose a genetic algorithm (GA) approach to search for the best/optimal assignment of customers to satellite channels. Various issues related to genetic algorithms such as solution representation, selection methods, genetic operators and repair of invalid solutions are presented. A comparison of GA with CPLEX8.1 is presented to show the advantages of this approach in terms of computation time and solution quality.

  • CR(Cognitive Radio) technology is maximized frequency reuse using unused frequency band. Conventional cooperative spectrum sensing has fixed false alarms. so all cooperative user has equal threshold. This problem is caused degradation of detection probability. so we propose and analysis the system model that false alarm differential setting through CSI(channel state information) for resonable threshold. Simulation results show improvement of detection probability.

  • Recently remote sensing technology is applied for construction projects planning and design areas by use of high resolution satellite images according to engineering application technology in the various experimental tasks. In this study, It was applied for optimum route selection methods and basic design by comparing to present railway and new expand dual railway route on the new construction plan path of 20 km at national railway lines, and then showed 3-dimensional images and fly simulation images to possibility for various application as low cost and short time compare to airplane and helicopters survey methods. As a results of its applied, It gained the results not only improvement of present methods but also real various application possibilities.
