A Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) provides differential correction and integrity information through geostationary satellite to users in order to reduce Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-related errors such as ionospheric delay and tropospheric delay, and satellite orbit and clock errors and calculate a protection level of the calculated location. A SBAS is a system, which has been set as an international standard by the International Civilian Aviation Organization (ICAO) to be utilized for safe operation of aircrafts. Currently, the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) in the USA, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) in Europe, MTSAT Satellite Augmentation System (MSAS) in Japan, and GPS-Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) are operated. The System for Differential Correction and Monitoring (SDCM) in Russia is now under construction and testing. All SBASs that are currently under operation including the WAAS in the USA provide correction and integrity information about the Global Positioning System (GPS) whereas the SDCM in Russia that started SBAS-related test services in Russia in recent years provides correction and integrity information about not only the GPS but also the GLONASS. Currently, LUCH-5A(PRN 140), LUCH-5B(PRN 125), and LUCH-5V(PRN 141) are assigned and used as geostationary satellites for the SDCM. Among them, PRN 140 satellite is now broadcasting SBAS test messages for SDCM test services. In particular, since messages broadcast by PRN 140 satellite are received in Korea as well, performance analysis on GPS/GLONASS Multi-Constellation SBAS using the SDCM can be possible. The present paper generated correction and integrity information about GPS and GLONASS using SDCM messages broadcast by the PRN 140 satellite, and performed analysis on GPS/GLONASS Multi-Constellation SBAS performance and APV-I availability by applying GPS and GLONASS observation data received from multiple reference stations, which were operated in the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) for performance analysis on GPS/GLONASS Multi-Constellation SBAS according to user locations inside South Korea utilizing the above-calculated information.

The deviations in the injection orbital parameters, resulting from launcher dispersions, need to be estimated and used for autonomous satellite operations. For the proposed small satellite mission of the university there will be two GPS receivers onboard the satellite to provide the instantaneous orbital state to the onboard data handling system. In order to meet the power requirements, the satellite will be sun-tracking whenever there is no imaging operation. For imaging activities, the satellite will be maneuvered to nadir-pointing mode. Due to such different modes of orientation the geometry for the GPS receivers will not be favorable at all times and there will be instances of poor geometry resulting in no output from the GPS receivers. Onboard the satellite, the orbital information should be continuously available for autonomous switching on/off of various subsystems. The paper presents the strategies to make use of small arcs of data from GPS receivers to compute the mean orbital parameters and use the updated orbital parameters to calculate the position and velocity whenever the same is not available from GPS receiver. Thus the navigation message from the GPS receiver, namely the position vector in Earth-Centered-Earth-Fixed (ECEF) frame, is used as measurements. As for estimation, two techniques - (1) batch least squares method, and (2) Kalman Filter method are used for orbit estimation (in real time). The performance of the onboard orbit estimation has been assessed based on hardware based multi-channel GPS Signal simulator. The results indicate good converge even with short arcs of data as the GPS navigation data are generally very accurate and the data rate is also fast (typically 1Hz).
This paper presents a fault detection and isolation(FDI) method based on Ceneralized Likelihood Ratio(GLR) test for the tightly coupled INS/GPS. State and measurement GLR tests detect INS or GPS fault. Once the fault is detected, Multi-hypothesized GLR scheme performs the fault isolation between INS and GPS and find which satellite malfunctions. Simulation results show that the GLR method is effective enough to detect and isolate a fault of the integrated navigation system.
GPS based orbit determination system for the KOMPSAT-2 has been developed. Two types of orbit determination software such as operational orbit determination and precise orbit determination are designed and implemented. GPS navigation solutions from on-board the satellite are used for the operational orbit determination and raw measurements data such as C/A code pseudo-range and L1 carrier phase for the precise orbit determination. Operational concept, architectural design, software implementation, and performance test are described.
Precise Point Positioning (PPP) is a stand-alone precise positioning approach. As the quality of satellite orbit and clock products from analysis centers has been improved, PPP can provide more precise positioning accuracy and reliability. A combined use of Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global Orbiting Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) in PPP is now available. In this paper, we explained about an approach for combined GPS and GLONASS PPP measurement processing, and validated the performance through the comparison with GPS-only PPP results. We also used the measurement obtained from the GRAS reference station for the performance validation. As a result, we found that the combined GPS/GLONASS PPP can yield a more precise positioning than the GPS-only PPP.

The paper presents the preparations work and experiences gained from realtime GPS car monitoring during the European Rally Championships organized on 10-12 June 2005 in Poland. The developed system is based on GPS and GSM/GPRS technology. Distribution and teletransmission of data are possible using different GSM operators in Poland, which makes the system fully independent. The system's server collects data from rally cars, processing and send data through VPN connections to the SQL server located in main control room. Data can be collected in real time via Internet or GPRS. Some information on GSM/GPRS range during rally championships are also presented in the paper. The study covered many trials and tests of different software and various configurations of the GPRS modems before finally the system started to work. Information coming from 10 Rally Cars were collected to the SQL Server continuously in one second interval. In real time mode these all data were displayed simultaneously in the rally main control room and in the rally press conference room. Paper describes also adopted emergency procedures and remote reconfiguration of GPS/GPRS boxes inside rally cars made during championships. Some problems and method of practical solutions are presented to avoid active jamming dangerous for a driver and his pilot, having system of communication intercoms jammed by teletransmission of GPRS 900/1800 MHz. In cooperation with rally teams special GPS/GPRS safety boxes were designed and made. Monitoring of all 7 rally stages with GPS receivers and method of calibrations of the maps were presented. GSM signal coverage was also checked in all stages. All data transmitted from rally cars were recorded in the computer. Some of our GPS cars had accidents and dispite them information were continuously sent to server. There is possibility to show in post mission mode the position of chosen cars in our rally application. Some information of best rally cars are presented also in the paper.
In this paper, results of a jammer detection and localization system operation are given. The system consists of receiver stations, a central tracking station, and a monitoring station and it was developed by our institute in 2014. Through real-time tests, it is confirmed that the developed system has an ability to estimate the location of interference sources with an accuracy of 50 m (CEP) even they was 10 km away. After verification, this system was installed in Incheon International Airport and operating results are being monitored by the airport and our institute continuously. In this year, there were some events that jamming signals were received from North Korea, so the data were analyzed and given here.
Global Navigation Satellite Systems are expected to meet system-defined integrity requirements when users utilize the system for safety critical applications. While the guaranteed integrity performance of GPS and Galileo is publicly available, their integrity assurance procedure and related methodology have not been released to the public in an official document format. This paper summarizes the integrity assurance procedures of Global Positioning System (GPS) and Galileo, which were utilized during their system development, through a literature survey of their integrity assurance methodology. GPS Block II assures system integrity using the following methods: continuous performance monitoring and maintenance on Space Segment (SS) and Control Segment (CS), through a cause and effect analysis of anomalies and a failure analysis. In GPS Block III, to achieve more stringent integrity performance, safety requirements are integrated into the system design and development from its starting phase to the final phase. Galileo's integrity performance is provided in the Integrity Support Message (ISM) format, as Galileo utilizes a Dual Frequency Multi Constellation (DFMC) Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) and Advanced Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (ARAIM) to serve safety critical applications. The integrity performance of Galileo is ensured by using a methodology similar to GPS Block II (i.e. continuous performance monitoring and maintenance on the system). The integrity assurance procedures reviewed in this paper can be utilized for a new satellite navigation system that will be developed in the near future.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is becoming more attractive navigation means for LEO (Low Earth Orbit) spacecraft due to the data accuracy and convenience for utilization. The anomalies such as serious variations of Dilution-Of-Precision (DOP), loss of infrequent 3-dimensional position fix, and deterioration of instantaneous accuracy of position and velocity data could be observed, which have not been appeared during the ground testing. It may cause lots of difficulty for the processing of the orbit control algorithm using the GPS data. In this paper, the characteristics of the GPS data were analyzed according to the configuration of GPS receiver such as position fix algorithm and mask angle using GPS navigation data obtained from the first Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT). The problem in orbit tracking using GPS data, including the infrequent deterioration of the accuracy, and an efficient algorithm for its countermeasures has also been introduced. The reliability and efficiency of the modified algorithm were verified by analyzing the effect of the results between algorithm simulation using KOMPSAT flight data and ground simulator.
