In order to investigate the changes in mechanical properties of sanitary nonwoven fabrics actually used as a top sheet, the fabric was treated with a mixture of chitosan and nanosilver colloidal solution in accordance with the prescribed ratio. The former is a natural polymer with excellent biocompatibility and the latter can give an additional performance while compensating the weaknesses of chitosan of deteriorating adherence efficiency. It was shown that the bending and shearing characteristics of the chitosan/nanosilver treated fabrics decreased, which helped to make it softer, smoother and more flexible. The shape stability and drapability of the treated fabrics improved. As KES-FB system evaluation showed that Koshi was deduced, and both Numeri and Fukurami were increased. Thereby, the chitosan/nanosilver treated fabrics were smoother to provide elasticity. In the change of hand value compared to chitosan only treatment, a better THV was shown in the fabrics treated with chitosan/nanosilver mixed solution than the fabric treated with chitosan alone.
This study was performed to examine the factors influenced on the decomposition of nondegradable organic pollutants( Tricholoroethylene,Benzene ) in aqueous by ultrasonic irradiation. The TCE( Tricholoroethylene ) and Benzene are major hazard compounds causing environmental Pollution and not decomposable substances by conventional treatment. The results shows that the oxidation and reduction reaction of ultrasonic Irradiation was formed the H$_{2}$O$_{2}$ , H$^{+}$ and OH$^{-}$ radical, and then theses was decomposed pollutants of TCE and Benzene in aqueous. We were conformed that the ultrasonic irradiation was excellent in removal efficiency of the nondegradable organic substances any other than processes and utilized the treatment of organic compounds in the industrial wastewater. Conclusively, these results suggest that ultrasonic irradiation may be extremely useful for the treatment of wastewater contaminated organic pollutants, which is difficult to treat economically by conventional treatment.
In Bok-Jeong water treatment plant, chlorination is the only technique used for disinfection of drinking water. This disinfecting treatment leads to the formation of trihalomethanes (THMs). This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of improving removal efficiency of THM precursor in the conventional water treatment processes by $TiO_2$ photocatalytic oxidation. Removal efficiencies of DOC, $UV_{254}$, THMFP were low in the conventional water treatment processes. With application of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst, DOC, $UV_{254}$, THMFP were reduced more effectively. As the $TiO_2$ photocatalytic reaction time increased, the removal efficiencies of DOC, $UV_{254}$, THMFP were increased. The $TiO_2$ photocatalytic removal efficiencies of DOC, $UV_{254}$, THMFP were increased with increasing $TiO_2$ dosage. However, over 0.6g/l of $TiO_2$ dosage, the efficiency reached a plateau.
Some data into combined and sanitary sewer system were collected in order to find out the characteristics of discharge from first flush rainfall inflow. The inflow ratios of combined and sanitary sewer system were 0.46 and 0.27 during rains from various survey data. The average inflow ratio 0.31 was appropriate for general application because many watersheds were not classified clearly as combined or sanitary sewage treatment areas. The percentage of first flush loads in the whole BOD load was about 10%. This result was thought some meaningful, comparing with similarity of first flush pollution load contribution previous surveyed by KECO (2004).
Recently, sanitary landfill was one of the most widely used for disposal of waste in Korea. With increasing of use and public awareness of this method for disposal. there is an increased concern with respect to the pollution potential by the landfill leachate. Especially, an aged landfill leachate contained relatively large amount of the nonbiodegradable substances which could not be removed by biological treatment processes. So, this study was conducted to the removal of nonbiodegradable substances, such as Humic acid and Fulvic acid with the electrolysis. In this study, electrode materials, electrolyte concentration, electrode distance, current density, and pH value were found to have significant effect on both pollutant removal efficiency and current efficiency in electrochemical oxidation process.

Objective: This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of insoluble cellulose supplementation to diets on the growth performance, intestinal morphology, the incidence of diarrhea, nutrients digestibility, and inflammatory responses in altering environmental conditions of animals housing. Methods: A total of 108 male pigs (Duroc×[Yorkshire×Landrace]) were randomly allocated to one of three dietary treatments (cellulose 0%, 1%, 2%) and two environmental conditions (good sanitary condition vs. poor sanitary condition) to give 6 replicate pens per treatment with three pigs per each pen at 14 days post-weaning. Results: Pigs were in good sanitary condition had higher average daily gain (p<0.01) and improved feed efficiency (p<0.05) from day 1 to 14 after weaning compared to their counterparts. The interactions were found between environmental conditions and dietary treatments (day 7: crypt depth [p<0.01], villous height to crypt depth [p<0.001]; day 14: crypt depth [p<0.001], villous to crypt ratio [p<0.01]) in ileum morphology. Crypt depth was decreased (p<0.05), and villous to crypt ratio was increased (p<0.05) only in poor sanitary conditions. Pigs exposed to the good sanitary condition had higher (p<0.05) apparent ileal digestibility (day 7, gross energy; day 14, dry matter), apparent total tract digestibility (day 14, dry matter and crude protein) compared to pigs housed in the poor sanitary condition. Meanwhile, pigs fed a diet supplemented with 2% cellulose had decreased (p<0.05) apparent ileal digestibility (day 7, dry matter; day 14, crude protein), apparent total tract digestibility (day 7, dry matter; day 14, crude protein, gross energy) compared to pigs fed a diet supplemented with 0% or 1% cellulose. Conclusion: Our results indicated that a diet supplemented with 1% cellulose increased villous to crypt ratio, however feeding a diet containing cellulose (1% or 2%) impaired nutrient digestibility for 14 day after weaning in both good sanitary and poor sanitary conditions.

Objective: The study was conducted to investigate the impact of boron supplementation on nutrient digestibility, inflammatory responses, blood metabolites and diarrhea index, and their relevance to growth performance in weaned pigs housed in good and poor sanitary environments for 14 days after weaning. Methods: A total of 108 male pigs (Duroc×[Yorkshire×Landrace]) weaned at 21 days of age were used in a randomized complete block design with 2×3 factorial arrangement. Pigs were assigned to three boron treatments (0, 5, and 10 mg/kg) under two environments (good and poor sanitary) to give six replicates per treatment (3 pigs per replicate). On 0, 7, and 14 days, one pig per replicate was euthanized to collect, ileum tissue samples, and rectal fecal samples. Results: Boron supplementation quadratically influenced (p<0.001) feed intake and weight gain in pigs housed in good sanitary conditions from 1 to 14 days post-weaning where pigs offered 5 mg/kg boron optimized weight gain and feed intake. There is a quadratic interaction (p = 0.019) on feed intake for 1 to 14 days post-weaning where 5 mg/kg boron increased feed intake in good sanitary conditions. Pigs housed in the poor sanitary environment decreased (p<0.001) villus height and crypt depth in ileum at days 7 and 14. On day 7 and 14, crude protein digestibility was quadratically influenced (p<0.05) by boron supplementation. Boron supplementation linearly increased (p<0.05) plasma calcium and cholesterol levels whilst linearly (p = 0.005) reducing plasma triglyceride concentrations. Diarrhea index was quadratically influenced (p<0.05) by boron supplementations regardless of sanitary conditions where 5 mg/kg boron inclusion achieved the lowest diarrhea index. Conclusion: Pigs offered 5 mg/kg of boron increased weight gain which may be deduced by improved dry matter, crude protein, and energy digestibility regardless of the sanitary conditions.
The water treatment by electrochemical method was performed to increase the yield of production. Continuous plug flow reactor was operated to treat poultry and domestic wastewaters. Experimental results were compared with experimental results of the wastewater treatment by chemical coagulation, they were increased over 10% in the removal efficiency of COD and the production rate of sludge was reduced by 30%. Ozone utilized to degrade or change the organic chemical structures, which removal efficiency increased to 20% in the electro-coagulation reactor. Economic evaluation was performed to estimate total cost of electro-coagulation reactor in comparison with that of chemical coagulation method. The total cost to treat 1000 ton/day of domestic wastewater was reduced by 50%.
Since the diffusion rate of sewage treatment plant is about 30% of the country. It is not enough to cope with entire sewage treatment of the community. Therefore, the septic tank is introduced which is connected with water flush toilet only. It is estimated that the large portion of water pollution has occured due to untreated sewage such as pollutants of kitchen, laundry and bathtub water, etc., which are not go through the existing septic tank. However, the construction of community plant which is could treat most of household run sewage should have flexibility in type, treatment method, effectiveness and economy which are adoption of the community. Without the treatment of combined household run sewage, the improvement of water pollution will be hardly expected.
This study was performed to examine the factors influencing on the degradation of TCE, Benzene and 2,4 DCP in aqueous solution using ultrasonic irradiation. The TCE,Benzene and 2,4 DCP, which are hazard compounds causing environmental pollution, were not decomposable pollutants by convientional treatment. The results shows that the generation of H$_{2}$O$_{2}$, H$^{+}$ and OH$^{-}$ radical was formed by the oxidation and reduction reaction of ultrasound, and then theses decomposed the refractory pollutants of TCE, Benzene & 2,4 DCP in aqueous solution. we conformed that the ultrasonic irradiation was excellent in removal efficiency of the refractory pollutants any other than Advanced Oxidation Processes(AOP), utilized the treatment of organic compounds in the industrial wastewater. Consequently, these results suggest that ultrasonic irradiation may be extremely useful for the treatment of wastewaters contaminated organic pollutants, which is difficult to treat economically by conventional process.
