SCP(Sand Compaction Pile) method that forms a composite ground by driving compacted sand piles into the soft ground. This method is one of the soil improvement techniques for reinforcing and strengthening soft ground deposits. This thesis describes the investigation on the behavior of soft ground reinforced with SCP by low improvement ratio. Direct shear test and consolidation test carried out to verified behavior of composite ground reinforced with SCP. Test results were discussed with reference to the amount of consolidation settlement, variation of shear resistance with area replacement ratio and effect of the stress concentration. And, laboratory model loading test carried out to verified the effect of the location and failure mode of reinforced embankment. Residual shear strength varies with the area replacement and constrict load in the low replacement ratio. Calculated stress concentration ratio overestimate than proposed valve by experimental, theoretical and analytical method. As regards the location, improving right below of the top of the slope was more effective than below of the toe of the slope. This thesis carried out to obtain fundamental information of behavior of the composit ground. Hereafter, centrifuge test that reproduce stress state of the in-situ must be necessary through the further study about pile penetration, reinforce position and construct time.
The characteristics of morphological shapes, wave heights, tidal ranges and sediment sizes are observed and compared between intertidal beach and mudflat. The Mohang sand beach, southwest coast of Korea, is located just next to the large mudflat and has tidal range over 5 meters. Wave measurements are conducted at each entrance of the beach and mudflat as well as at the outside waters representing the incident waves to these different coastal environments. The morphological characteristics are also examined including the sediment size and the slope of the bathymetry, For the observation of morphological shapes, camera monitoring technique is used to measure the spatial information of intertidal bathymetry. The water lines moving on the intertidal flat/beach durinq a flood indicate depth contours between low and high water lines. The water lines extracted from the consecutive images are rectified to get the ground coordinates of each depth contours and integrated to provide three dimensional information of intertidal topography. The wave data show that sand beach is in the condition of severer wave forcing but tidal range is almost identical in both environment. The slope of the mudflat is much milder than the sand beach with finer sediment.
In lateral ground flow, slope stability, and land slide problems, H-piles have often been used, on a horizontally deforming ground, to prevent the failure of mass of soil in a downward and outward movement of a slope. Here, theoretical equations are derived to estimate the lateral force, assuming that the Mohr-Coulomb's plastic states occur in the ground, just around H-piles. In this study, some model experiments were performed to check the lateral forces determined from theoretical equations, using several pile widths, heights and various interval ratios between H-piles for sand specimens. The solution of the theoretical equation, derived from previous studies, showed reasonable characteristics for constants of soil, as well as for the interval, widths, and heights of H-Pile.

This study is an experimental research for the dispersion behavior and impact characteristics of debris flow according to change of slope. Large scale experimental setup for the debris flow was established to simulate the artificial rainfall and control the ground slope. Parameters such as materials of debris flow, slope, and length of slope were used for the experiments. After the experiments, it was found that the speed of ground material components was increased about 28~47%. It was found that speed can be increased by increasing the particle size. Furthermore, maximum/final loads for ground material components were increased 89% for the coarse aggregate and 68% for the fine aggregate comparing with sand.

The author has studied the collapse of a slope with seepage occuring in sand model with a trapezodial cross section. The primary objective of this study was to examine the failure phenomenon of embankment with respect to change in void pressure at embankment slope. The contents of this experiments are as follows; 1) Determination of exit point by seepage line. 2) Evaluation of partial failure at exit point. 3) The effects of seepage force at embankment.

Greening sometimes fails because its method is not suitable for various site conditions, therefore the trend of selecting a revegetation method in Korea today is through test construction. However, due to enlargement, complication and diversification of domestic construction businesses, the importance of VE is gradually increasing as effective efforts over a whole life-cycle to obtain goals such as quality improvement and cost reduction, and not only quality and economic efficiency but also substantiality need to be considered in comparing revegetation methods. For this study, Sungnam~Janghowon (area1), where comparatively various slope revegetation methods are used, was selected the investigation site. The site was divided into three areas:blasting rock, ripping rock and earth sand. The revegetation methods used were six in the blasting rock area, five in the ripping rock area, and two in the earth sand region. 2007 monitoring data was analyzed, and Value (V) was calculated with LCC related ratio, and compared and contrasted with the evaluation of prior revegetation methods. Therefore it is believed that this analysis enables selection of the most appropriate method, unbiased towards one particular characteristic such as quality, vegetation growth and economy. When aiming for a durable effect, it shall be more efficient to select the most appropriate method focusing on LCC analysis, which deals with the economic aspect, as well as the design function aspect.
The analytical approach to determine transverse sand bed slope at river bend are based on two phases that the flow is considered as fully developed flow and the bed is fluvial having bed load. All existing methods are theoretically derived from the initiation of motion of the particles at river bed. They assume that the Shields parameter has a constant value of 0.06. In this study, the variability of Shields parameter due to the differences of shape of grain size distribution is considered. Therefore the parameter is not a constant, 0.06, but depends on the shape of the grain size distribution. This result gives good agreement to estimate transverse bed slope with actual field data at river bend.
This is a study on rectangular-shaped passive row piles in inclined sand-ground by model tests. The experiment controlled the angle of inclination of ground and induced the ground destruction. We also measured the behavior of row piles, by adjusting the shape, position and spacing of piles. As a result, we confirmed the earth pressure, the lateral resistance, and the effect of depressing on the ground variation working on passive pile. The effect of B-type pile of which the front width is wide is bigger than that of H-type pile of which the side width is wide. We can find out the failure angle of slope, the shared force of pile and soil by using the lateral resistance graph based on slope angle.
A series of high-pressure isotropic compression tests were performed on four types of poorly graded silica sand that were artificially prepared based on representative grading curves and similar mineralogy composition of seabed sediment containing different fines contents existing in the Nankai Trough. The addition of fines steepens the initial compression path and increases the decrement of the void ratio after loading. The transitional behaviour of the poorly graded sand with a larger amount of fines content was identified. The slope of the normal compression line shows a slight decreasing tendency with the level of fines content. The bulk modulus of silica sand with fines was lower when compared with the published results of silica sand without fines. A small amount of particle crushing of the four types of poorly graded sand with variable fines content levels was noticed, and the results indicated that the degree of particle crushing tended to decrease as the fines content increased.

In domestic case occurrence of cut slopes according to construction and expansion of road is necessary more than 70% of country has been consisted of mountain area. In the case of Kang-won Do, there are much mountains locals in road wiping away a disgrace and expanded and slant is connoting collapse danger of incision side by each kind calamity being urgent. When route alteration enforces disadvantageous road extension, stability examination and processing way about large slope happened are serious. During road extension work in the Kang-won DO secure stability for falling rock of road slope and failure that happen and established suitable reinforcement and countermeasure in reply in necessity. The Slope is divided rock slope and soil slope, and then in order to analysis soil slope apply LEM theory. And rock slope examined stability about stereographic projection and wedge failure. Is going to utilize in reinforcement and failure prevention if it is efficient cutting as reinterpreting stability and secure stability and wish to consider effective and robust processing plan of great principle earth and sand side, and present countermeasure inside with these data hereafter applying suitable reinforcement countermeasure about unstable section.
