  • As a result of quickly growing data, a digital transmission system is required to deal with the challenge of acquiring signals at a very high sampling rate, Fortunately, the CS (Compressed Sensing or Compressive Sensing) theory, a new concept based on theoretical results of signal reconstruction, can be employed to exploit the sparsity of the received signals. Then, they can be adequately reconstructed from a set of their random projections, leading to dramatic reduction in the sampling rate and in the use of ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) resources. The goal of this article is provide an overview of the basic CS theory and to survey some important compressed sensing applications in wireless communications.

  • We used blood data to predict obesity by complementing the BMI risk, because some blood factors are significantly associated with obesity. For the sampling method, a two-step stratified colony sampling method was used based on sixteen blood factors collected by the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES). We identify the number of effective blood data of obesity in the final model as 6 ~ 8 factors that differ somewhat depending on age and gender. Also, the coefficient of determination that represents the predictive power of obesity in the regression model is the highest for both men and women of aged 19 and in their 20s and 30s, and the predictive power decreases with increasing age.

  • Laboratory analytical results of 22 sets of hydrophobic adsorbent coils containing surface soil-vapor and two soil samples collected by conventional intrusive method from each boring location at two active dry cleaning facilities in the State of Illinois, U.S.A, were presented to evaluate the performance of soil-vapor survey. The most critical factor to determine the effectiveness of soil-vapor survey is the distance from the soil-vapor sampling device to the actual contamination, which is a function of soil porosity, permeability, primary lithology, and other geological and hydrogeological site-specific parameters. Also this factor can be affected by the history of contaminant-generating operations. The laboratory analytical results in this study showed longer dry cleaning operation history (i.e., 50 years) and presence of fine sand at the beneath Site B allow the contaminants to migrate farther and deeper over a fixed time compared to Site A(i.e., 35 years and silty clay) so that the soil-vapor survey is not likely the most effective environmental site investigation method alone for Site B. However, for Site A, the soil-vapor survey successfully screened the site to identify the location reporting the highest soil concentration of chlorinated solvents.

  • The design of safe and economical structures depends on the reliable live load from load survey. Live load surveys are traditionally conducted by randomly selecting rooms and weighing each item on-site, a method that has problems of low efficiency, high cost, and long cycle time. This paper proposes a deep learning-based method combined with Internet big data to perform live load surveys. The proposed survey method utilizes multi-source heterogeneous data, such as images, voice, and product identification, to obtain the live load without weighing each item through object detection, web crawler, and speech recognition. The indoor objects and face detection models are first developed based on fine-tuning the YOLOv3 algorithm to detect target objects and obtain the number of people in a room, respectively. Each detection model is evaluated using the independent testing set. Then web crawler frameworks with keyword and image retrieval are established to extract the weight information of detected objects from Internet big data. The live load in a room is derived by combining the weight and number of items and people. To verify the feasibility of the proposed survey method, a live load survey is carried out for a meeting room. The results show that, compared with the traditional method of sampling and weighing, the proposed method could perform efficient and convenient live load surveys and represents a new load research paradigm.

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct an empirical study on brand authenticity targeting sportswear brand consumers. Through this, we intend to provide the accumulation and implications of authenticity research. For the research model, first, the authenticity of sportswear brand companies was selected as an independent variable. Brand image and brand attitude were selected as the next parameters. Finally, the dependent variable was the intention to pay the premium. Structural equation model analysis was conducted for the structural relationship between these variables. The subjects of this study are consumers who have purchased sportswear brands within the past year. Convenience sampling was used for the sample survey, and 262 people were finally selected as valid samples. The survey was conducted as a non-face-to-face online survey due to the COVID-19 infection. For data processing, frequency analysis was conducted using SPSS 23 to identify the individual characteristics of the survey subjects. In addition, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were performed to refine the scale of the survey tool. Next, using AMOS 21, confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis were conducted to verify the measurement model. In addition, structural equation model analysis was conducted to verify the hypothesis. As a result of the analysis, all six hypotheses selected from the research model were adopted.

  • n accordance with the National Health Promotion Act of 1995, newly designed National Health and Nutrition Survey was carried out in winter of 1998. Although this survey amended most of the problems noted in previous Nutrition Surveys, it still had a limitation in reflecting seasonal variation in food intake due to the survey period which was confined to November and December. In order to counterbalance this limitation and estimate the yearly food intake of Korean population, three seasonal nutrition surveys were taken place in spring, summer, and fall of 1999. Seasonal Nutritional survey targeted 15 households each in 60 nationwide primary sampling units(PSUS) which were part of 200 PSUS of 1998 National Health and Nutrition Survey. Therefore, total of 2,700 households were surveyed in 3 seasons. The interviewers visited each household members and carried out face to face interview on household. Daily food intake was monitored using 24 hour recall method. According to the survey results, fruits, beverage and alcohol intake showed large variation with season while processed foods showed almost no variation. And intake of vegetables and fruits were influenced by their own harvesting time and had impact on the list of foods consumed most. With the result of the 1998 NHNS, this study made it possible to estimate the yearly average food intake of Korean population. The result of this survey is expected to be used in planning food supply and setting tolerance level of contaminants of each foods at the government level.
