Although corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an extensively studied topic, its determinants in the field of Islamic banking are scarce. In Bangladesh, CSR plays a vital role in gaining customer loyalty and confidence. Therefore, this research aims to identify and analyze the influence of the Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) and the Shariah Audit Committee (SAC) on CSR adoption in Islamic banks in Bangladesh. The study population is managers and second managers of 160 Islamic bank branches of different commercial banks in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The sampling technique used is convenience sampling where the first available primary data source was used for the research without additional requirements. The study developed a survey questionnaire from examining previous related studies in Islamic banking and CSR context. The final sample size in this research was n = 309, indicating the survey response rate was about 97%. The study used SPSS 23.0 software to interpret the statistical findings, and the findings revealed that support from the SSB and the presence of a strong and effective SAC has a strong correlation with CSR adoption and significantly influence CSR adoption in Islamic banks in Bangladesh. Finally, the study proposes several significant and crucial policy guidelines for Islamic bank branches to adopt CSR activities.

In Bangladesh, developing students' entrepreneurial intentions have received a lot of attention because of the country's current employment predicament and shifting labor market. Entrepreneurs play a critical part in a country's economic development. This study aims to examine the impact of creativity and innovation on students' intentions toward online entrepreneurship in Bangladesh. The participants in this study were Bangladeshi university students. Based on pre-tested constructs, a survey questionnaire was created. Convenience sampling, which is a common type of non-probability sampling, was used to choose participants for the sample. A total of 150 students from the public university took part in the survey, with 120 replies being accepted as complete, resulting in an 80 percent response rate. Hence, the sample size is 120. Internal consistency was determined using Cronbach's alpha, while correlation and hypothesis tests were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0. The results reveal that creativity and innovation have a statistically significant and positive impact on students' intentions to engage in online entrepreneurship. These two independent factors explained 75% of the variance in intention to engage in online entrepreneurship, resulting in empirical findings and solid information in the present body of knowledge. The study concludes with a conclusion and research implications for the future.

The aim of this study lies in answering the question "How to form weighting cells to enhance sample representativeness in telephone, Internet and mobile surveys\ulcorner". For this, we explored 2% raw data of Year 2000 Population and Housing Census of Korea looking for meaningful patterns for ownership of telephones, the usage of Internet and/or mobile phones. We found that telephone coverage rates vary significantly by household size; 84.6% for one member households, contrasting 98.5% for two-or-more member households. Thus, telephone survey samples need to be weighted differently in sub-groups by household size for proportional representation of target population. Searching socio-demographic factors influencing the use of Internet by C5.0 tree models, we found that education levels and the occupation (or housing type, the automobile ownership) are two most important factors in addition to gender and age. Thus, surveyor might form weighting cells by such factors at the stage of post-stratification or set quotas, a priori, proportional to size of the cells by such factors. For mobile surveys, we approached similarly and found that education levels and the occupation (or the automobile ownership, marriage status) are two additional factors that may be used in forming weighing cells or in setting quotas for cells.
The requisite numbers of sample replicates for the population study of soft-bottom benthos were estimated from survey data on the Songdo tidal flat and subtidal zone in Youngil Bay, Korea. Large numbers of samples were taken; two-hundred-fifty 0.02 m$^2$ box corers and fifty 0.1m$^2$ van Veen grabs were taken on the Songdo tidal flat and in Youngil Bay, respectively. The effect of sampler size on sampling efforts was investigated by pooling the unit samples in pairs, fours, eights, etc. The requisite number of sample replicates (n$_r$) was determined by sample variance (s$^2$) and mean (m) function (n$_r$:s$^2$/P$^2$m$^2$), at P=0.2 level, in which s$^2$ and m were calculated from the counts of individuals collected. For example, seven samples of 0.02 m$^2$ corer for the intertidal and two samples of 0.1 m$^2$ van Veen grab for subtidal fauna were required to estimate the total density of community. The smaller sampler size was more efficient than larger ones when sampling costs were compared on the basis of the total sampling area. The requisite number of sample replicates was also predicted ($\^{n}$n$_r$) by substituting $\^{s}$$^2$ obtained from the regression of s$^2$ against m using the Taylor's power law ($\^{s}$$^2$:am$^b$). The regression line of survey data on s$^2$ and m plotted on log scale was well fitted to the Taylor's power law (r$^2$${\geq}$0.95, p<;0.001) over the whole range of m. The exponent b was, however, varied when it was estimated from m which was categorized into classes by its scale. The fitted exponent b was large when both density class and the sampler size were large. The number of sample replicates, therefore, could be more significantly estimated, if regression coefficients (a and b) would be calculated from sample variance and mean categorized into density classes.
This article attempts to provide an overview of the exit polls for the 2006 local elections in Korea. The sampling method, sampling error, non-response rate, and prediction error of the exit polls are reviewed. Also, we explore the fact that the propensity to vote varies according to age and gender of voters. In terms of age and gender, the representativeness of the sample is investigated by comparing to the data released by the National Election Commission. Through this empirical research, we show that the exit poll samples are unbalanced in terms of age and this unbalance may be one of the causes of bias occurred in the prediction of the 2006 local election results. The design effects of the sample design implemented for the exit polls are also examined.
In this study, we performed 8 times of water quality sampling and continuous measurement of flow to identify wastewater flow characteristics for wastewater treatment basins of Namyangju city. The field survey has been conducted 6 times in dry weather period and 2 times in wet weather period. Each survey conducted 24-hr water quality sampling in the interval of 2-hr. From the analysis of flow data and water quality data, the following conclusions can be drawn. For Namyangju-1 station, which represents residential and commercial mixed area, flow rises early in the morning before office-going hour and moves up and down within narrow range, and lasted after office-leaving hour, resulting from continuous commercial activity. In case of Namyangju-5 station representing community and Namyangju- 6 station representing residential area, the flow immediately falls down after rising early in the morning and later rises again at the office-leaving hour, and arrives at peak flows around late evening. In the analysis of wastewater characteristics for weekdays and weekends, without landuse types the flow rate of weekends is higher than that of weekdays because it reflects population, being not contributed to generate wastewater during the working hours of weekdays, stay home and produce wastewater for weekends period.
The sampling methods selected for this area was (1) Simple random sampling (2) Systematic sampling and (3) Sub-sampling. For the calculation of the number of sampling plot, 10 % coefficient of variation was adapted. As a result, 57 plots each for simple random sampling and systematic sampling was calculated. In the sub-sampling method, however, total of 40 plots, which were consisted of 5 Blocks, secondary 4 major units and tertiary 2 minor units, were examined. The reuslts obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The rate of expected error was 9.24% for simple random sampling, 8.36% for systematic sampling and 7.54% for sub-sampling, respectively. Therefore, the sub-sampling was proved to be the most accurate method among the test. 2. The volume calculated by each sampling method was compared to the volume of all stand. The rate of expected error was also lowest in the sub-sampling (0.39%), followed by systematic sampling (4.18%) and simple random sampling (7.92%). 3. Comparing the various reuslts and analysis of these results, the sub-sampling was regarded as the most rapid and economical method because this method had not only the least number of plots but also the least expected error among the tested sampling methods Therefore the sub-sampling is proved to be an ideal sampling method for forest survey.
Distribution of population densities of heterotrophic bacteria, E. coli, and Salmonella and Shigella in seawater and sediments at 40 stations near Samcheonpo Bay were measured for 3 times from July to December, 2003. Population densities of heterotrophic bacteria in seawater during survey periods were in the range of $1.7{\pm}0.9{\times}10^3{\sim}2.4{\pm}0.9{\times}10^5$ CFU $mL^{-1}$ and the highest density was shown at St. 34 during the sampling period of September, 2003. Population densities of heterotrophic bacteria were shown higher values on September than those of July and December at all sampling stations. Population densities of anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria in sediments during survey periods were in the range of $2.2{\pm}0.2{\times}10^3{\sim}2.0{\pm}0.2{\times}10^5$ CFU $mL^{-1}$ and their population densities at sampling stations far from Samcheonpo Bay measured lower values than those near Samcheonpo Bay. Population densities of anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria in the sediments were not affected by physico-chemical factors of upper water environment. E. coli were detected only at 8 stations in seawater and 4 stations in the sediments among 40 sampling stations on July and were not detected during September and December. Salmonella and Shigella were detected only a few stations on July and September during sampling periods.
In this paper we have considered the problem of estimating the population mean $\bar{Y}$ of the study variable y using auxiliary information in presence of non-response. Classes of estimators for $\bar{Y}$ in the presence of non-response on the study variable y only and complete response on the auxiliary variable x is available, have been proposed in different situations viz., (i) population mean $\bar{X}$ is known, (ii) when population mean $\bar{X}$ and variance $S^2_x$ are known; (iii) when population mean $\bar{X}$ is not known: and (iv) when both population mean $\bar{X}$ and variance $S^2_x$ are not known: single and two-phase (or double) sampling. It has been shown that various estimators including usual unbiased estimator and the estimators reported by Rao (1986), Khare and Srivastava (1993, 1995) and Tabasum and Khan (2006) are members of the proposed classes of estimators. The optimum values of the first phase sample size n', second phase sample size n and the sub sampling fraction 1/k have been obtained for the fixed cost and the fixed precision. To illustrate foregoing, we have carried out an empirical investigation to reflect the relative performance of all the potentially competing estimators including the one due to Hansen and Hurwitz (1946) estimator, Rao (1986) estimator, Khare and Srivastava (1993, 1995) and Tabasum and Khan (2006) estimator.
